I still haven't finished FFX-2. =/

Playing two long-ish RPGs back to back is something I don't have patience for anymore nowadays. =<

ForceStealer

Double Growth
I was surprised that I was able to pound through them pretty quickly. (I played them semi-simultaneously, but definitely focused harder on 10 first.) Especially considering I managed more completion of FFX than I ever have.

I never got round to FFX-2 because I absolutely refuse to play it until FFX is platinumed. Even though it does slightly annoy me that I got the PS3 version and announced the PS4 one, I'm looking forward to playing through the game as it's second (FFIX being first, obviously) on my favourites of the series. :awesome:

I haven't got the article to hand, but apparently, there is something wrong with the RNG (random number generator) within this version of the game, where it has become locked into one set instead of being random. So every encounter, and all moves, are exactly the same, regardless of timings or resets. I haven't played this game since it originally came out, but this is supposed to have a bearing on obtaining certain items and such?

In any case, just started replaying. I am enjoying the arranged music so far, but good god, I had forgotten just how awful the voice acting and writing truly was. I know it picks up later, but right now ... it's all very cringe-worthy. Oh, and I'd forgotten just how irritating the the one step - cutscene - one step - cutscene aspect was, lol. Still, beginning to slowly feel the game again. Battles are nice so far and I've just hit Besaid were finally the goosebumps and nostalgia is kicking in.

^I wasn't aware of that, I'd be interested in reading it if you happen to come across it again :)

So this happened to someone on NeoGAF:

Yes, that's the trophy for killing Penance...after killing a random bee with the Magus sisters.

(I also took the liberty to change the thread title - I would've asked the OP if they're okay with it but as the account has been inactive for three years or so...)

I gathered the RNG for the PS4 version is horribly broken, :monster:. At least they can patch shit like that. Right?

the engine for the ps3 hd remaster of zone of the enders 2 was rewritten in a patch, so i don't see why they can't (as if i know what i'm talking about here)

whether they will or not is another question :monster:

Claymore

Just finished the Luca segment. I still hate Blitzball with a passion - that's never going to change - and I had to sit through that cringe worthy fake laugh scene with Yuna and Tidus. It still makes me shudder to this day. Really badly performed. On the plus side though, Tidus' voice acting keeps improving (which just baffles me why they didn't re-record the opening game segment stuff, or at least improve the writing).

Game is hitting its stride now. I've always found the underlining Wakka and Lula situation to be a heck of a lot more riveting than Yuna and Tidus. That moment after the game where he collapses into her arms and she just holds him is just awwww. And now the badass Auron has joined the party. One thing I had forgotten about was the party chatter that changes at moments like these. Really enjoyed those. It's something that XV looks to be doing quite well so far from the demo. More of this please.

About to set off. Voice acting is still all over the place but really enjoying the game now.

It would have been badly performed if you didn't cringe. That's the point.

Perhaps, but the end result is that I'm left with no positive lasting impression of that scene, when I'm supposed to feel a bond between Yuna and Tidus at that moment. And that's down to the voice-acting of that fake laughter.

Oh, we're talking about the Luca laughing scene again?

The thread I linked to is just one of far too many conversations we've had about it before. Just search "laughing scene" if you don't remember. There are even seven posts about it in this thread, excluding this one.

On the topic of the VAs, Seymour's voice fits him soo well.

I like how calm he is throughout the game. Calm insanity is one of the creepier forms of insanity.

I enjoy his PS2 face a lot more than the HD face.

Ok, couple of things.

First: The cringeworthy laugh sequence.

Just because you make something intentionally annoying doesn't make it not annoying.

Claymore and the Blitzball Hate
I get that the game is clearly not for everybody, but I have an embarrasing confession to make. When I was a kid, I took Blitzball like... WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. I played that more than I played the rest of the game. I even created excel sheets to keep track of my players performance during each season and tournament.

Yeah, it was that bad...

I was beginning to write a fanfiction based entirely around the game of Blitzball simply entitled Blitz which was... terrible. Basically the Besaid Aurochs and a new OC became charged with saving the world while still winning the season. Think Angels in the Outfield with a molotov cocktail.

My team was unparalleled thanks to me hiring Jumal as my goalkeeper (yes I know Keepa turns into a better goalkeeper if you train him, but I was lazy in that one aspect) and getting Wedge as my fellow forward. Some games Wedge scored more points than Tidus.

I would absolute buy a standalone Blitzball game and play the hell out of it. That's one of the things I hated most about X-2. They had Blitzball, but it wasn't accesible until Act 5 and was this dopey management simulator that sucked all the fun out of it. Yes... the kid who made an excel sheet for his players stats said this version was boring.

On The Remastering

I played the PS3 remaster for FFX. The graphics and music were great, but it didn't sell me on buying it. Sure the Last Mission stuff from X-2 might be cool to look at but it's not essential for me.

Also the "audio drama" thing... I'm sorry but it sounds like moderately decent fanfiction. It does not sound like something that should be an official product of the Squeenix.

^I also had Blitzball love, so I appreciate that spreadsheet XD.

OK let's put this laughing scene thing to bed. People are perfectly entitled to feel like the scene is annoying. I find it awkward, and have turned the volume down on it maybe every time I've got to that point because once was enough. The annoyance with people constantly mentioning it isn't because people are saying "omg it's so annoying", it's because people often say stuff like "wtf is with that laughing scene", "omg it's so awkward is it because it's japanese like wtf" etc.

Mainly the people who complain about that scene are people who don't understand that it's intentionally forced and intentionally awkward, and claim that it makes no sense. Which is super duper annoying. Moreso than the awkward laughter :monster:

So when we express our "omg not this again" disdain for it, that is why. That scene shows up in every single review, in every retrospective, every fan mentions it and a shitload of them don't remember the dialogue that clearly states it is forced, crazy laughter. It is ALWAYS taken out of context to diss the game, particularly in reviews. And in the context of the Tidus/Yuna relationship, it's actually quite an important emotional plot point between them.

Higher Further Faster
Lex wins the thread.

The way the laughing seen makes you feel is the way it was intentionally trying to make you feel. It made the rest of the cast feel the same way. They were all, "What's wrong with you guys?" after the fact.

Even Yuna felt uncomfortable and tried to get Tidus to stop at first before joining him.
