I gotta dumb question, does this game have New Game Plus? That would be really nice for equipment drops.

^ Indeed it does. You start at level 90.

There's also a New Game- where you don't level up :monster:

So I thought the Nabreus Deadlands would be a good place to level up...

:closedmonster:

30 seconds after entering:

Bwahaha! Even if you're around the average level of the creatures in that area, they'll still kick your ass. I'd say wait until you're in the level 50 range to go back there. But the fiends in the Deadlands are easier than the ones in the Necrohol, so keep that in mind.

And sweet jeebus, Force is in Tchita Uplands! You're farther in the game than I am! It's been a bust past two weeks for me, so I've been unable to play as much. I'm in the Salikawood right now.

It's ironic because I got to the Phon Coast and stopped like over a week ago, but not because I actually wanted to stop, just because I've had too much other shit to do.

Ironic because Phon Coast is where most people's first runs go to die :monster:

That's because after Bur-Omisace the game literally pulls the drag chute on the plot, and you wander through 5-6 huge areas with maybe 1 or 2 cutscenes between the characters. I don't need a cutscene every 5 minutes, but a little exposition from the characters about the area they're in and reestablishing their goals and/or character motivations wouldn't go amiss. Something to keep players on track who have a habit of easily straying from the hallway. *raises hand in guilt*

^ Nothing carries over, you just start at level 90. The difficulty is the same.

Same for New Game-. It's a clean start but you stay at lvl 122333 (Vaan, Fran, Balth, Basch, Ashe, Pen.) You get New Game- after finishing stage 100 of the Trials.

(Or, just don't kill any mobs until you equip Firefly's, same thing :monster:)

Re: New Game+, I went back to my old file instead because I wasn't going to play through the whole game again and doing all my hunts and getting all my weapons etc. My main party is at lvl 65. Took down Fafnir at ~60, it was a bit of a pain but Ice Shields + Bubble Belts + Reflectga Motes + Thundaga = OP. I want to try finding better weapons and equipments next - my experience with this game has always been that armour and weapons (and strategy) are more important than levels.

Oh, and since I'm a sucker for that PS4 Plat... I've decided to carefully plan out my next roles in order to get the Magick and Technich trophies. I'm not even sure I can get them all, I have 8 Technics I need to unlock, and I don't really want to waste Espers on getting them. Soooo... next stop: Research :monster:

Edit: Okay that was just 2 Technicks and I can unlock them both by getting a Monk.

Also, for the Magick trophy I need to get a Time, White and Black mage because those are the only 3 jobs that can learn some of the abilities. Hm. That leaves me with two more jobs to choose from... I really do want a Samurai/ Bushi, but the Shikari is really nice so I might get a second of those.

What to do...

I guess I need to choose jobs for my 3 main party to make them ready for the tougher marks. Say for Omega Mark XII, if Ashe had the Samurai job as well she could just wack away while Fran and Basch supported her with Decoy and Reverse. Only problem is, they're both kinda slow, so I should preferably give jobs with those abilities to Vaan and Balthier. Reverse is standard for both Black & Time Mage, Decoy for all mages.

Balthier the mage... hm.

Oh and this list is pretty nice. Pretty sure it was listed before though.

No, to get the trophy, you just have to obtain the ability, not unlock the license for it.

Ah. Well that's pretty much bullshit from PlayStation Network calling it "Learned every Technick" :P

Well, that saves me some trouble. Glad I spent those hours researching jobs and licences then :P

This made me laugh because I said the exact same thing to Kimble when we first discussed this XD

Glad I'm not the only one :monster:

Also I've realised I need a) second jobs (mostly because of Curaja), b) a more leveled up B party or c) more levels if I'm to survive Subterra. I don't know if it's just a thing where they throw their worst mob at you on the first floor you enter (probably), but I'm barely surviving he first wave and then I end up flattened. And with a B team of level 40ish I'm doomed to die :wacky:

I mean I just want to get the important chests and feck off... except not, because I want to clear the hunts and rare game down there and stuff. Except I don't really want to because that place is horrible and I'd rather put the battle speed to Slow and just weapon reset my way through that hell hole.

Hm.

So I tried using various RNG techniques to get crap out of Cerobi Steppe chests, but I've realised I need a program for this - one of the speedrunners I (semi) know has one, just need to hassle him to get it. Because what I ended up doing was: Immobilize a character, cross the zone to the zone the chest spawns, autosave, Immobilize trick down to the chest (enemies can't hit you and you can't cross a zone because that means RNG breaks), run down to the chest (while Immobilize resetting enemies), check if chest is there, quit and close application and reset if not. And then if the chest spawned I tried following Attack patterns, but I couldn't get it to work.

idk about RNG manipulation... takes a lot of effort and insight. I spent 6 hours on the game doing exactly nothing. Which could have led to something, if I actually did get something out of that chest, but, didn't. I guess I learned something though. But it wasn't worth 6 hours :P

Ok, so I'm catching up on some of my hunts, and I decide to do the Marilith one since I'm in the Zertinan Caverns and all that. I remember there's something specific about getting this mark to appear, but I don't remember what. I check my strategy guide. Nothing.

I check my OLD strategy guide instead.

...Tells me to shut off all gambits and stay in the room for 5 minutes to get it to appear. Why is it that an old BradyGames guide helps me better than this new Prima piece of shite?

It's kind of nice that RNG manipulation is nicer than in the original. I remember getting a ribbon from the Steppe in 2007 before I knew RNG was a thing, it took an entire day lol

Can anyone give me a suggestion on fucking White Mousse? I don't have Berserk and I feel like the Sleep + Fire route is going to take an eternity. :/

Fangu

Because it'll take you an eternity to get Sleep? Or?

Sleep, fire and Flame Staves :monster: Is he immune to oil?

(Also, Gambits with items to cure debuffs. Ally: Any works for almost all of them. It'll fire them off much more quickly.)

I already have Sleep, but having to repeatedly cast it vs oh hey you're berserk for the whole fight now and UH OHHHH SOMEBODY'S BEEN BLINDED~

Fangu

I'd avoid mixing up the Berserk strat with the Fire/ Sleep strat, particularly since Attack will cancel Sleep :monster:

Just stop to cast Sleep again before it runs out. If it doesn't say "Miss", you successfully prolonged Sleep.

If you're using Attack strat: Ally: Any - Eye Drop Gambit on everyone
If you're using fire strat: Who cares about Blind, it doesn't affect magick damage

It's great when you read a post someone made and it totally comes out at their voice in your head. XD

Also mmmm White Mousse, I remember that bugger

Do you have Berserk MOTES by any chance?

Either that or wait until you're a higher level. I completely forgot about the White Mousse until I was on my way to fight Orthros farther into the Waterway and I encountered it. Two marks, one trip!

It's amazing how often that happens though. I accept a bazillion hunts at once, some of them I'm not powerful enough to take on, and then I finally encounter the things when I'm traversing Ivalice.

Anyway, my party's average level is 50 right now. After getting the Vorpal Bunny last night I decided to go into the Feywood since I was high to enough to take on the fiends. Couldn't go into the upper part of it though, because story reasons. I'm SUPPOSED to be going through the Sochen Cave Palace right now, but... :awesomonster:
