If I get it, I'm going to do the japanese voices.

I'd rather play a game in moonspeak than having to hear what's his face yell about CAP'N BASCH11oen :monster:

Didn't know about that limit thing, pretty interesting. I would've thought they'd keep something like that in place, since it's effectively a gameplay mechanic (or limit) in the original game - one that forces people to rethink their strategies instead of just spamming the highest level thing.

(somehow I think I may have offended people with the above paragraph)

The only offensive thing I see is your opinion of the voice acting. >_>

The English cast of XII is probably the only one I've ever been truly happy with and wouldn't change for anything. I love all of the voice. Yeah, Vaan is annoying at times, but Tidus is worse to me. At least Vaan's English VA is tolerable.

That's not to say that I don't love James Arnold Taylor, but Tidus's voice can really grate my nerves sometimes.

FUCK YES!

And I agree about the voices, both in X (insufferable) and XII (amazing). My only gripe with XII's voices is that because English is a shorter language than Japanese, there's a lot of dead air between speakers.

ALL THE VOICE

But yeah I agree that overall the voice acting is really good. I approve of the translation greatly and also most of the directing choices - save for Fran's voice. *ducks and runs*

(No but srsly her Japanese voice makes so much more sense re: her character. I can totally understand why they chose to do something different for her English voice, but I still much prefer her Japanese.)

It does become a game mechanic of its own. There are many ways to utilise the queuing - like casting Curaja while your other two party members are Berserked and uses Attack like mad. You'll get a lot more hits in that way.

The most interesting part about it in my opinion is how - when you've learned about the effort of spells, you'll never ever use Curaja again. Hell, you'll probably never use Curaga again either, and use X-potions isntead, as they take zero time to load.
Items are OP in this game.

I don't think I ever used Curaja anyway XD

I seem to recall Reflect being fairly prevalent in some of the later battles, and timing Curaja queues with Reverse cooldowns is a nightmare. I usually just used Curaga.

Reflect (or Ruby Rings) + Firaga + Flame Staves + Oil = OP late game.
Reflect in general is OP.

Also asdfhsdf so amazing to see an XII thread being the most active thread on the forums. :joy:

Oh, and also
I suppose it would be too much to ask for that the various license boards not be freaking hidden so you can actually plan?
In IZJS they aren't hidden, so fairly sure that will be the deal for the remaster.

I use Curaja it all the damn time, I have no shame in it.

In some of the boss/esper/hunt fights I've been in lately I almost almost use Curaja or Cura purely because by that point I'm sick to death of spamming items, even if the effects are immediate. It severely breaks up my momentum, especially if I've gotten them to HP Critical and I have to take a timeout just to have individual characters heal themselves. I just want my other characters to keep on whaling on the enemy while my mage/backup whoever is spamming spells out the wazoo. I don't care about using MP, because I get it back from damaging and killing the enemy, and walking around.

Anyway, I hope like FUCK they give us more than ONE fracking Water spell this time around! That's probably the only thing that's always pissed me. Just Water. No Watera, no Waterga, just fucking Water. FUUUUUUUUU--

I haven't the slightly clue what you are talking about. >.<
The battle system in FXII was the gambit thing right?

I haven't played this game since the before time, in the long long ago. :wacky:

Equip a Ruby Ring (which has the Reflect status), cast Firaga with a Fire Staff (which enhances flame spells) while casting Oil on the enemy (which enhances Fire damage). Game Over. :neo:

Nah, you're doing it wrong.

The proper way to FFXII is to have your gambits set up to where you don't have to micromanage anything, and you can work on your thesis while kicking Yiazmat's ass in the background :thor:

Believe it or not, micromanaging is actually the fastest and most hardcore way to go through the game. See evidence Emanon :neo:

Gambits for me means setting everything to "Attack" since that's what works best for most mobs. Attack (and Greatswords) is boring.

"Gambits only" underlevelled is a neato challenge though :monster:

Well, like I was saying above, I basically MMO'd the postgame game, lol.

Basch was the Tank, using Berserk on himself with the Zodiac Spear, with Balthier using Decoy and Reverse to draw all enmity to Basch, and DPSing with the Masamune and Genji Gloves in the downtime, while Ashe handled healing. Fun stuff.

I really hope if they do any extra content, they'll get Alexander O. Smith and Joe Reeder back in, then continue working with them on FFVII Remake.

^^ DOUBLE YES.

The way they took the initiative by giving the cultures different accents and dialects was one of the things that made the game truly unique. I wonder how they feel about this news.

I'ma go check Twitter.

EDIT:

Reeder doesn't seem to use his, but Alexander O. Smith has replied to one of my tweets before about XII. I'm going to send a tweet his way and see if I can get a reply.

I asked Smith about a year ago about working of FF7 remake, and he said it would be fun. He lives in Japan at the moment.

We should try to get the XII novella translated. I was hoping we'd get to work on it once the Turks novel was done, but it's been kind of on hold.

They need to finish the rest of the damn manga series and have that shit translated, pronto. :neo:

It's amazing, once I finally get a XII remake I turn into a demanding little shit once more.

But whether or not that happens, I'm just truly thankful for renewed interest in the game.

And new/moar merchandise. :closedmonster:

At least this won't be split into multiple games. :ffuuu:

I hope that they add a minigame other than fighting, like Triple Triad.
I know I keep banging on about Triple Triad but it was like bacon crossed with cocaine with how addictive it was. :wacky:

^I'd love to see extra content in the game, like another minigame. Maybe more enemies and Hunts too *wishful thinking*

Not sure about it being based on the Zodiac version in Japan though. I never played it and right now I would kinda like the option to switch between that version and the original version.

Really, the only thing I would like to see as far as 'extra' content would be a couple more FMV sequences. The scenes we have are gorgeous, yes, and we do have the long ending sequence, but there are few moments in the game that I think deserve the FMV treatment. Will it happen? Probably not. But I don't think the game needs any more mini games. sidequests, or hunts.

Lex

I don't think it needs more FMV's purely based on the fact that the higher res rendering of regular cutscenes looks better than the FMV's do in that trailer (because they've just filtered the old FMV's, they're not gonna recreate them).

It was more a wishful thinking tangent. It doesn't need anymore FMVs sure, but would I like a few more? Of course I would.

But the new graphics do look incredibly beautiful. Can't wait to see more of the characters.
