It's said several times in the game. Especially when Gabranth reveals the fact that he was the one that did it, and Vayne discusses with Cid how all of his plans are coming to fruition in Archades. He specifically says several times he's the one that planned it all.

Gabranth is merely a dog. He is not a mastermind or schemer. The story was quite clear and definitive about what the plot was and how it went down. I don't know if you haven't played it recently or something but there's nothing to clean up. It kinda beats the whole "Vayne is the villain and plotted the death of Raminas, his brothers, his father, and the others" quite hard with a sledgehammer.
[/quote]

While I'm playing through now, I only played it two other times and honestly I was stuck on some parts of the story - and no, I haven't played it totally through, recently. I will keep an eye out for that 'I planned it all' this time through. Right now I should be on my way to Geruvegan (spelling.) Trying to clean up some extras first. Maybe I just get too carried away with the extras that the main story gets lost... Alright, well, I'll buy that right now.

Re: FF12

The best proof actually of Vayne being the mastermind is right at the beginning. After "Basch" kills Lord Raminas, a mysterious figure covered in shadows appears and says with satisfaction while looking over it all:

"Well, so much for peaceful negotiations."

Then the real Basch argues and he responds:

"But the war is over, my dear Captain. You have lost. Dalmasca
is the property of the Empire, now. And to think, we intended to let you keep some of your sovereignty, out of respect. But now you’ve gone and ruined that. Haven’t you, 'Captain?'"

The man is Vayne. He was there the entire time. Furthermore later on when talking with Ashe, Basch states "After Vayne’s ruse I had abandoned hope for honor… Yet never did I forget my knightly vows" when talking about what happened to him after the incident at Nalbina. He attributes the deception to Vayne who is clearly shown to be in control of it all and gloats about the war finally coming to a head.

So there you go. The only time Gabranth attributes it all to himself is when he tries to goad Ashe and the others to kill himat the Pharos.

Re: FF12

Jesus hito, that's scary. I was literally thinking the exact same thing.

I was just looking over the Final Fantasy wiki's Ivalice article and I'm seriously getting frustrated and pissed out how fucking inaccurate it is. I know Ivalice isn't the easiest continuity to untangle but Jesus, it's wrong.

FF Tactics Advance 2 happens after Revenant Wings, which means its before FF Tactics. It can't be after FF Tactics. I have no idea how they could put that there in continuity, let alone also before Tactics. How can an event be in two places of a timeline at once?

I also really want to know what the Clan Primer of the Japanese FFXII says about Ajora and shit. Why the US version contradicts the FFXII Ultimania Omega is a mystery.

I really am tempted to just fucking buy the FFXII Ultimania along with the Revenant Wings one and just see if we can make some heads or tails from it, but I know we've got enough trying to keep up with FFVII and AC.

Maybe later once AC Complete's done and stuff? :monster:

I remember saying something about Ajora, but I forgot what I said now :duhard: IIRC the Japanese one is vague enough to fit with what it said.

RW's does have a lot of background stuff for its new elements, too.

If that's the real Basch, then the real Basch killed Reks.

The whole thing is confusing to me.

Yes, Ultimania translations would be wonderful!

I think I can conceed to the war being Vayne's work...

Still, I say there are many factors in to each action that transpires.

Thank you for the information.

No, the real Basch didn't kill Reks. It was Gabranth, but if you remember the opening, Basch and the others WERE on their way to the room where Raminas was to save him. He got their too late, Gabranth filled in the rest, and confused Reks into thinking he did by looking exactly like him.

So that little moogle has been flying around in the Strahl the whole time? :/

Re: FF12

Of course! He's part of the crew! He's the one that takes care of the Strahl when the others aren't aboard and piloting it. Don't you think its odd that the Strahl is always anchored in the area you're in?

Re: FF12

Wait really? Anchored in every area or just in the aerodomes?

But yeah first time I ever noticed the moogle was in Balfonheim. If he has popped up before I thought he was just a random moogle and not a member of the crew.

Re: FF12

In almost every area that isn't Jagd or a city, the Strahl will be anchored and you can access the airship from those points. Just look at your map when you go to different places.

When I first heard about Revenant Wings, I thought it was going to be a full-blown sequel to the original. Not a DS mini-adventure.

Re: FF12

Same here. Color me disappointed though I haven't played it. I almost bought a DS for it but after reading the synopsis, script etc I figured it wasn't worth it.

The world of Ivalice could've gone without it.

Re: FF12

As you would expect, the plot was dumbed down for Nintendo. And I don't think they could decide on what the battle-system was meant to be.

It would have been cool to see a sequel on PS3 or something. I'd like to see where they could take the story; but it could be difficult without Matsuno's influence. They had enough trouble finishing the original after he left.

Revenant Wings was really good, you really should try playing it for yourself Purple. I loved it, right after playing XII. It's really fun and customizable which I enjoy.

Re: FF12

Okay. I might give it a shot. I need to get a DS first though.

And yeah a PS3 sequel would be awesome.

Re: FF12

I'm actually against FF sequels, tbph, since sequels in general inhibit originality and development. There wasn't a sequel for I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VIII and IX, which also means they never got lame. How many game series are there in which the second or third are still as good - or better - than the original?

Re: FF12

Legend of Zelda.

Sequels are not inherently bad at all.

And FFV did have a sequel. It's called Legend of the Crystals. :monster:
