Well there's multiple endings so "canon" is whenever you stop messing with the timeline and give up.

Also I think Serah staying in the death dream counts as an ending -- the guy playing got fragments and new locations out of it before he got to reverse time and fix it.

Get Nojima back! It was his story, and it shouldn't have been changed at all! Explain the gods. Start from the beginning.

The fragments don't seem to be changing the outcome so far. It could be that only getting ALL of them will change it, but there's no difference apparently between getting like.... 20 or 120. Is this right? I dunno. FFS does no one who can translate exist?

update: teak got another ending where serah and noel tried to fight atlas and died horribly ahaha

got another fragment and location unlocked though, so it def seems like you have to fuck up before getting it right.

edit: there's an ending where they all get eaten/turned into flan what ahahaha TORIYAMA'D

I'm just going to say that I think Serah dies in every ending. tbh I always thought they were going to pull for a XIII-2 sequel thanks to them never quite denying XIII-3's existence (they say the American branch snatched up the url without their telling the Japanese branch, but honestly, that's a non answer) and them trying to do a new business model where they push out a major game very two or three years. Since Square spends a notorious amount of time just in pre production, I don't think they would be able to push a new title and battle system in a normal turn over. Yeah I know people hate the idea but whatever.

So my running theory is that the next game starts with Serah dead in the invisible world, where both Muin and Etros reside. Something that's not quite like Vallhalla.

Fuck that, Sami. XIII-2 better feel at least as resolved when it ends as the first XIII did or I'll be pissed well before XIII-3 can be rolled out.

Serah dying in at least the first ending makes sense because whatever power she and Yuel share is connected to the goddess (from what I gathered, they kept saying "megami" in relation to Yuel) that screws them in the end. I'm hoping with enough proper time loops there's a way around Etro checkmating them though someone scratch beat mesa and start a new session

The third game taking place in the invisible world makes sense though hmm....

Just saw another three alternate endings (without credits).

1) After beating Caius in Oerba, there will appear a new area on the time-space map (Historia Crux?). It says AF XXX (these spaces will be the alternate endings.) Vanille is a crystal, and she is placed by a tree (I wish to say the one in the center of the end of the road when you enter Oerba from the tower.) Before Serah and Noel find her there, they are going towards a small group of Cieth who are collapsed inside the lower part of Fang and Vanille's old house. They climb the stairs and find Vanille (who we get to see closer up as a crystal) placed by a tree (the central one at the end of the road you are on when you come into Oerba.) Vanille speaks to them; or it may be Yuel narrating - not sure. Cocoon never fell. (This one may have Fang dead trying to destroy Cocoon... I'm not sure.)

2) Snow breaks in and has Aryssa arrested. She IS working with Caius in this ending! Snow is still a l'Cie. He, Noel, Serah and Hope speak outside the building (one where Hope works.) Snow is sitting on a slightly different SHIVA TWINS in bike form!!! Something towards Noel and Hope back and forth. Then supposedly he says he'll beat Caius, asks for Serah's hand, which she TAKES IN A HEARTBEAT, grabbing Mog. They fly off - on the bike which flies. They disappear into some sort of blue gateway? In the sky, Buniberzei (the new Cocoon) seems to be floating. Nothing about old Cocoon, as it's never shown.

3) A weird one where Serah and Noel become AI forms for a computer. ?!?!?! Very - I don't know how to describ it - non-eventful and odd. Serah and Noel appear twice. First time, Serah seems to know it's not her, but she walks off. Second time Serah and Noel speak to each other. Not knowing Japanese, I don't know what's being said - which you all know. Also, most of the time the computer (female voice) is speaking.

Also something about Teak finding a Moogle world! I found this out in the chat. I know nothing more. Sadly, Teak doesn't save her (I believe I read Teak was a she) files.

also there's a paradox ending counter and apparently the cgi ending doesn't count towards it. make of that what you will.....

EDIT: okay there's conflict over whether or not it counts THE MYSTERY CONTINUES.

So, I've been trying to get caught up (doubt I will for quite some time). I just watched this video from Leta_jp's files:

The bit with the Lightning reunion was interesting. Didn't nearly try to make out the whole thing, but it would appear that -- as most assumed -- Etro either was the one responsible for decrystalizing Lightning and co. at the end of XIII, or that Lightning at least believes she was.

Also, those who hate Caius's last name will be thrilled to hear that Lightning actually says it within the story itself in that segment.

What about technically all endings being true? Every bad ending caused Noel to go back to square (no pun intended) zero, and start over again?

If this was the case, there'd only be an ending which is more final, not less true.
