In all seriousness though, I don't mind not having summons as long as we have really strong monsters we can recruit, like Omega or Odin. X-2 didn't have summons either and I did not miss them.

I really wanted Siren for XIII, the fact that she was in that CGI scene at Nautilus was such a tease

Although having Lightning as a party member sounds awesome too

I think having monsters to fight with you is cool, but they shouldn't have removed summons as well. And tbh, I'd rather have more REAL party members than monsters....

X-2 made up for not having summons by having Dress Spheres and a tribute by fighting the aeons you acquired at the end of the game. Not seeing any summons at all is kind of just... wrong? It just doesn't feel right and I hardly think that having monsters in the party makes up for it.

I am not a fan of the monster system as well to be honest, but I hardly ever used the summons in XIII so that's the one thing I'm really not going to miss. Plus neither Noel or Serah are L'Cie so it just wouldn't make sense. I'm hoping some of the big, super powerful monsters will make up for it, but that's just me trying to be positive

I'm a little skeptical of the whole monster system as well (pretty sure I stated that a while ago in this thread, actually), and am a little sad that there won't be summons. I don't think I used them all that often in XIII, although when I did, it was because I sorely needed their help. I'm sure the gameplay/battle system has been adjusted in XIII-2 to make up for the fact that you won't have summons, though, so I still have hopes that this will be fun. All I really want, actually, is to have fun while playing this game

I like summons too. But the plot just doesn't make sense with them. No one is l'cie anymore. We did see Shiva fighting with Lightning, didn't we? So they still exist. It would feel forced if they shoved summons in where they don't make sense within the world.

And even though fighting with the monsters might be fun, I still agree with you that I'd rather have people party members.

Well, after reading more of the LiveJournal user who was kind enough to translate the game pretty much, I can say I'm thoroughly confused by XIII-2.

I wish this answered: WHERE IS ETRO!?!? Is she dead or alive? Does she have some power to remain active in the living, while truly being dead?

Did Lindzei somehow give Etro life again in some small way by creating humans out of her blood and she uses this to keep watch over the living

? Is Valhalla actually a part of the living world - and so while closer to the realm of the gods, still physically bound by some rules of tangible nature? Is that why Etro's whereabouts seem to be completely a convoluted enigma?

Once again feeling the excitement for the game, while the apprehension is sort of disintegrating. Serah is tolerable.

Still, I'm so confused. How can SE say this story is easier to follow than XIII's?!

This may seem random but I've been wondering why Lightning in the Amano artwork isn't wearing breastplate armor. Was it a character design change to maintain some degree of modesty or is this of some relevance to events in the game since it was suggested that her armor is *special*.

Amano usually draws the characters outfits with a twist or his own special flare so idk maybe he didn't like it or something.
