What subtext? That's not subtext, that's TEXT honey.
You're right. XD

You've got two female characters, one grabs the other's breast, then she turns around so the other can lift her skirt to look at her thigh, and they die holding hands.
Seriously, all the fucked-up fan pairings aside, could this actually be making a case for the first canon FF homosexual pairing?
I think it may well be. It's certainly as strong a case as has ever been made, at any rate.

I await someone to bring up Clack or Clephiroth
But second to these, of course!
I saw you hiding that text there.

And think about it, if she was still a boy, would people even be questioning her relationship with Vanille?
No, they absolutely wouldn't be.
And, hell, we can say that with confidence without even having the benefit of seeing most of the dialgoue in English yet!

It seems to me so far that it's only the fact that it's two women that people are insisting "girls just act like that" with each other and...no, not unless they're fucking, they don't.
Okay, this line may have to go into my sig.

The ending alone screams canon. I mean, it's the epitome of every cliche anime romance ending. Not to mention there's romantic music when they embrace, the casual but intimate touches they share, the really gay stuff Vanille narrates about Fang...I'd say it's pretty obvious.
Not to mention how we get shots of the other characters' reactions to them in
this clip and
the upskirt one, as though they know what's going on.
In addition, the way they run up to each other and stop in that first clip? The direction of the scene? This including the reactions of the other team members -- a "What's about to happen? Are they gonna kiss?" kind of reaction.
Classic cinematic language for certain feelings being in play.

Are people really questioning it? For the record, I'm not - I merely pointed out that I didn't find that particular bit in the video romantic or suggestive - possibly, I wouldn't have even if it was a guy, simply because of the sense of urgency with which it was done.
I think it's more the fact that Vanille
let her do it that's an indication of what's going on between them. XD

And then there are people trying to pair Vanille with Hope, which...what the hell?
Yeah, having now watched most of the cutscenes, I've got to say I can't see that
at all.

Next time I'm in a crisis I'm just gonna stick my hand up my BFF's skirt and see what happens.
Either she slaps you and walks off or she slaps you and things get frisky. Do keep us updated on how this progresses!
And, as always: pics or it didn't happen.
By the way, LV, see the very end of this post for something special just for you.
Thank you!
Yep, the man has class.
By the way, guys, it would appear that the person who uploaded the video that Like Vines gave us has uploaded what is essentially a complete playthrough of the entire game (only missing some level-whoring and dungeon crawling):

Some highlights below, put behind a spoiler tag to keep the post from looking so damn long.
Oh, and just for Like Vines:

Oh also has anyone seen any of the MANY slapping scenes? I keep hearing about them and have yet to find any. I'd really like to see Fang backhand Snow plz.
Just before three minutes into this video, as he tries to go after Serah's crystal form:

It's not quite a slap, but it's close.
And, yeah, there do seem to be a lot of scenes like this. Vanille slapped Hope in one of those videos I linked to above (the one ending in "10"), while Snow slapped Gadot in another (the one ending in "12"). Meanwhile, Lightning punches Snow at least three times (once in the video ending in "21" and two more times in the video ending in "32"; she also puts her sword in his face
here), then we have the scene just now with Fang and Snow.
Yeah, it's going on quite a bit.
