FSDFDS I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS GAME.

So I pretty much died a miserable death in fandom terms, but then was on Youtube and found an FFXIII trailer and it was sparkly and pretty and now my fandom love has been revived. GODDAMN YOU AND YOUR BRIGHT COLORS NOMURA

Okay so I've been keeping up with pretty much everything (mostly spoilers, because I just... don't like surprises haha) and first of all I think the gameplay looks wicked. I don't really see the issue with it being "linear" because personally I don't do any of the sidequest shit unless I have to anyways. XD And by the way being linear does NOT mean it won't have replayability value. I don't do any of the extra crap in Ocarina of Time and I used to play that game all the way through at least a few times a year.

WITH THAT ASIDE the spoilers have made me giddy. The ending is beautiful. I cried and I couldn't even understand what they were saying. ;o; FANG YOU ARE SUCH A BEAST I LOVE YOU that scene when Ophan is torturing her broke my heart. ;o;

Also I got chip in and say that yeah, I thought the ending was... well, romantic. I mean, they put out there to begin with that Fang was originally slated to be a male character. WITH THAT IN MIND it's pretty clear the whole Fang and Vanille storyline was supposed to be something of a love story, but they didn't really change that much when they made her female?

idk but regardless of whether or not it was intended to be ambiguously gay, I really adored the ending. Fang and Vanille topped my favorite characters list, I can't wait for more details about them. ALSO THE SKIRT LIFTING SCENE IS WOW I am leaving a link here since it's not on Youtube as far as I can see, hurr.

Also I saw some similarities between Sazh and Barett and lol'd hard. GOOD JOB RECYCLING BLACK MEN SQUARE. I loved Sazh as a character though and d'aw Dajh is cute as hell. CHOCOBOS HEEE. Also Lightning is a pretty neat character, she made for an interesting lead. I also love Snow and Serah even if the story is a little cliche, plus Snow is MANLY and that's awesome.

Oh also has anyone seen any of the MANY slapping scenes? I keep hearing about them and have yet to find any. I'd really like to see Fang backhand Snow plz.

Also I didn't know that about Yaag's death, I knew they died but I didn't know how. That's epic, I can't wait to see.

I say yes, in all seriousness. It's pretty exciting! Fang was originally a male character, and I like the fact that they decided to keep her story the same once they decided to make her female. And think about it, if she was still a boy, would people even be questioning her relationship with Vanille? It seems to me so far that it's only the fact that it's two women that people are insisting "girls just act like that" with each other and...no, not unless they're fucking, they don't.

The ending alone screams canon. I mean, it's the epitome of every cliche anime romance ending. Not to mention there's romantic music when they embrace, the casual but intimate touches they share, the really gay stuff Vanille narrates about Fang...I'd say it's pretty obvious.

Are people really questioning it? For the record, I'm not - I merely pointed out that I didn't find that particular bit in the video romantic or suggestive - possibly, I wouldn't have even if it was a guy, simply because of the sense of urgency with which it was done. :monster:

Then again, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. People will twist - and deny - anything to fit what they want, even stuff between heterosexual couples.

And, yeah, there do seem to be a lot of scenes like this. Vanille slapped Hope in one of those videos I linked to above (the one ending in "10"), while Snow slapped Gadot in another (the one ending in "12"). Meanwhile, Lightning punches Snow at least three times (once in the video ending in "21" and two more times in the video ending in "32"; she also puts her sword in his face here), then we have the scene just now with Fang and Snow.

Yeah, I've seen ones like AerithxTifa, CelesxTerra and more, but there's actual scenes that seem to indicate a real relationship here.

As much as I ship (and joke) about Aeris/Tifa, there is certainly a huge difference here. Aeris is blunt and forward about everything, but I can't imagine a situation where she'd lift up Tifa's clothing and know exactly where a mark was on her body.

Ooooh that first one was new to me! Haha they really do love crying out each other's names and running towards each other. You're right though, everyone around them could see it. :desu:

And yeah, in the upskirt scene they're actually EMBARRASSED to see Fang looking up her skirt (they all sort of turn their heads and one of them is like WOAH) which makes it seem like the gesture was unexpected and a little more than friendly.

In-party violence will now become a trend for each Final Fantasy to come. We all knew XIII would be groundbreaking, we just didn't know HOW.
