Massive new XV update is now available--8.6 GB. It probably contains some data from Episode Prompto.

That'll take my broadband about half a day to download. Better get started now

DUDE IT'S GOT THE OFF ROAD REGALIA I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!! :excited:

Forgot about this, too! Can't wait to try it out - I'm gonna be a shite driver :D

On a different note, I'm looking forward to Episode Prompto. The trailer has really grabbed my attention. It's perfectly timed too, as in my replay of the game I've just finished CH. 10 yesterday, and will do CH. 11 (and maybe 12) tonight.

Episode Prompto is out in (at least) Australia, that's why there are videos.

So, uhhh, that DLC was pretty good. Much better than the Gladio one. Gave me some vibes I wanted the main game to give me.

I had a feeling that would be the case before Episode Gladio was even released. And while I did enjoy it, I feel it was a missed opportunity by Square to expand on his character.

At least I got to see more Cor. :awesomonster:

Just noticed something... spoilers in case anyone still...

It's supposed to take place after the Tenebrae portion of the main game, where daylight is obviously sparse and pretty much gone. Yes, there's periods of "non-night" but it's not proper daylight either. And yet, there's real, bright daylight during the DLC.

This blows ass. The Episode Prompto download isn't showing up for many of the Season Pass holders in NA, including me, and AskPlaystation on Twitter is recommending waiting until 5pm PST when the store finishes maintenance to download it. They also recommend not just buying it anyway, as it may override the license.

Gonna download and play it once I get home tonight – but I can't play it until AFTER the missus gets home (since I'm not allowed to play this without her at all), so probably gonna be up late tonight to roll through it. (and we have to watch the new episode of Preacher since I passed out early before she came home last night).

I think I'm going to stream it sometime this weekend. Just watched the trailers for both episodes. Prompto looks so intriguing and a bit better than Gladio (which I thought was ok, but seemed to be lacking something), and I'm dying to play Ignis.

Are there any other episodes coming out afterwards? I did hear a rumour there might be one for Ardyn, but nothing more.

There aren't any character DLCs besides those 3 right now. Hopefully that will change.

AM I the only one that doesn't give two shits for an Ardyn DLC? He was a good villain, but I don't really care to play as him; I feel like it's just a waste of assets. More story content, now that's different.

I feel the same way. In terms of potential DLC, I'd want to play as Luna because of the perspective it'd give on current events like the Chocobro DLC does.

I feel like Ardyn is always served best as being outside the player's control. IF they do it, it only stands to reason that it'd be in Zegnautus Keep or some other time he can fill the "enemy of my enemy" role (like the sections of FFVII where Sephiroth is playable when he's still on a path that aligns with that of the player and overall party).

Still – Ardyn's most interesting bits are all in ye olden days before the current quest was put underway when we find out how and why he becomes immortal and jaded, and those all seem to be served better when given as story bits, rather than as him-playable DLC.

It never occurred to me that a DLC delving into Ardyn's past may involve playing as him. I don't feel like that's what was implied by the survey, whereas a playable Lunafreya would logically go with the "Lunafreya’s activities" option since a playable Lunafreya was also listed as an option on the list. There wasn't an option for a playable Ardyn.

But I also seem to have taken the opposite expectation from you guys about what we would get with the Ardyn selection vs. the Lunafreya option -- i.e. I believe going into Ardyn's past would be the one to actually give us new story content.

Just noticed something... spoilers in case anyone still...

That's a great observation. For a minute, I thought they'd also forgotten
that Pryna died alongside Lunafreya, but it kind of seems like that sequence was a hallucination?

Biggest thing I'm wondering about is where this puts us in terms of what Prompto knew of his origins and when. Up to now, I've felt like the localization team had completely made up the notion that Prompto had always known with that "Not exactly something I could tell people growing up in Lucis" line from Chapter 13. He didn't say anything even a little bit similar in Japanese.

The new DLC seems to have Prompto going back and forth about knowing vs. being completely caught off guard. I'm wondering if the localization team wrote themselves into a corner with that line and then had to try working both into the DLC. I need to check the Japanese lines now. Dammit.

EDIT: Maybe we're supposed to take the understanding that he somehow knew he was from Niflheim, but not that he was an MT? ... I really got to check the Japanese.

I don't think they would make Ardyn playable due to redundancy since...
it would basically be a reskinned Noctis, nothing unique or different gameplay wise, which is the main selling point of the characters DLC (according to the DLC director)

Just need to say that driving off-road through Leide, playing "Gotta Run" from the Brotherhood OST while casually ploughing through the local bestiary (bonus points for whenever the battle music doesn't come on during that), is just gold. I pity those who aren't as easily amused in life <3

Also, will be playing Episode Prompto tonight. I showed the trailer to my friend, who hadn't picked up FFXV in a while, and he was really keen on getting it. As he described it, it looks like it's going to be lot more relevant to the character in terms of development and has a lot more meaningful backstory, "unlike Gladio, who got upset 'cause Ravus hit him that one time".
(I know there's more going on in Gladio's mind, but that was still funny - and I couldn't take the credit for saying it :P)

Thinking back on that survey released with ver1.10, I'm pretty sure I selected Story Content: World of Ruin. Anyone else choose this? (Though, admittedly, I'm bloody fascinated about having Gentiana as a playable character).

Nothing unique except for, you know, playing as Ardyn.

I'm not saying that it will happen but you have to admit that there would be a lot of people interested in playing as him.

Personally, I might be more invested in World of Ruin Iris, though.

World of Ruin and Iris are both really high on my list for things I hope to see.

Insofar as Episode Prompto, it was a bunch of fun, although my tactics are apparently "grenades are too much like magic — never use them. Stealth and snipe when you can — unless you can rocket people. Then DEFINITELY ALWAYS rocket people. If nothing else, machine gun until it's gone, or regular pistol from cover"

The story gave some really nice connections to Kingsglaive and other general backstory.
Good to see how Diamond Weapon was developed, and what the process for the Prompto clones were. A little curious about how Prompto was stolen from the lab as a little one & and taken to Insomnia, but then also had a really disconnected relationship with his adopted parents after something so risky.

The giant cyber ape was a surprise, and I wish I knew more about why it existed as we've never seen anything like that creature before, it'd be cool to know it is was just like an Abominable Snowman native to that area or what. Lastly, the Godslayer was an EXCELLENT boss from a gameplay perspective of shooting something constantly, getting tense dialogue and bringing it down, but I have no idea how it was supposed to've taken on the Astrals when Prompto manages to machine gun it to death, and it seems like Ramuh would've just fucking toasted it instantly, Titan'd've crushed it, & Leviathan would have it sailing skyward and short circuiting.

I do wish we saw a little more specifics about what happened after and how he gets captured and beat to hell after parting ways with Aranea. Especially after the DLC let you feel like solo Metal Gear Prompto, that extra detail would've really helped tie the credits sequence together. Obviously it was Ardyn, but I want more reasons to hate him specifically — especially waiting for Episode Ignis.

@Tres: I think he's meant to've been aware that he's not a local, but not specifically where he was taken from or what his actual past was until he goes on walkabout.

Also, I did notice the light levels being very bright at times, but the snow also helps with that since the entire landscape is reflecting any light at all. I am curious about the disconnect there though.
