So, it's been a year. Was kinda lukewarm towards the game after the initial "OMG IT'S HERE" phase, but I'm giving it another chance. Doing the whole multimedia experience, thanks to the list X provided above. Did Dawn, Brotherhood, and Omen yesterday, Kingsglaive today, the novel thing on Thursday and Friday, and starting the game next Monday, with all the DLC.

I'm so excited to see how you feel about itttttttt~

Dawn/Dawn 2.0 and Omen were pretty, but basically fluff, which is okay because, you know, trailers. I really liked Brotherhood. Especially the Prompto and Ignis episodes.

Will be doing Kingsglaive tonight. More thoughts then.

Hopefully Dawn helps to define Regis a bit before the crisis occurs, and Omen helps to give a little sense to Regis' mindset during Kingsglaive, since that's what he's learned from the Crystal and whatnot. Looking forward to your thoughts from it tonight & seeing if they feel a little less like fluff then!!~

I don't have it, so I'm not the best authority on whether or not that's got cool things in it that'd be prime for inclusion. Tres might be a better source of feedback on that one!

Kings Tale might give you some appreciation for Regis and his group in their younger years, but I wouldn't say that there's a story there that's particularly worth hearing. Apt bedtime story fodder for Noctis, but not much of a world-builder.

It does include the appearance of a series regular. Not the only time they appear in the FFXV universe either. However, due to the discrepancy in portayal between the titles, I think there might be some fun embellishment (If not complete fabrication) on Regis' part for his story.

It's pretty much entirely skippable in terms of the canon story. All you need know in that regard is that Regis once told Noctis an embellished bedtime story of an adventure he supposedly had with Weskham, Cid, and Clarus.

That story is itself probably as canon as "FFXV: A New Empire." :monster:

The game itself looks fun to play, and can apparently be completed within less than 90 minutes. I've downloaded it, but haven't started it yet.

EDIT: Ninja-ed. :awesomonster:

On the subject of Costlemark... anyone here clear the Item-ban section?

Advice on equipment/setups would be appreciated.

Thoughts on Kingsglaive:

"Damn this is pretty"

"Luna looks kinda weird"

"OMG IS THAT DIAMOND WEAPON?!?!?!?!?!?!"

"When the person that you are stealing a magic ring from is practically telling you to put the magic ring on, you don't put the magic ring on"

I love Regis

Yup. I cleared it when the Level Cap was still at 99.
• Magitek Suits to ensure everyone has HP maxed out.
• Ignis' ability to restore HP can be a lifesaver.
• Wait between each encounter to recover to full.
• Make a few spells that'll recover your HP when you cast them by making them with items.
• The most important thing is use the campsites for food.
• Ragnarok can be helpful.
• THE GODDAMN POWER PLANT SPACE SUITS FOR THE FINAL BOSS.

JechtShotMK9: Fantastic thoughts! I'm glad you seem to've enjoyed it overall. :D

I did not clear Costlemark until after I'd already broken the Level 99 cap, so I guess you could say I cheated. It was definitely the most difficult dungeon crawl out of all of them though. One of the things I did to make it easier was I'd stop short of going into the big open rooms and check out what kind of fiends are in there. If it were the Cthulhu-like things I'd equip my Magitek suit and then immediately remove it once the fight was over to conserve it for the rest of the dungeon. I agree with X's tips, definitely take advantage of the camp sites to refuel your HP and status boosts. Since you can't use items in this one it would be helpful if you cooked meals with regenerative boosts.

Just fought Max Angelus 0 THREE TIMES IN A ROW! (No save exploit).

Magitek Exo-Suits burn about half their charge in a protracted battle against this thing, but it feels nice to cut loose with the Royal Arms without HP dropping.

I took the suits off for Round 2 and burned through a ton of Elixirs and Megalixirs, and about 5 Phoenix Downs.

Round 3 I put the suits back on and went to town on it.

I got 2 additional Magitek Suit Accessories for my trouble (no V2 yet). All in all, not too shabby.

Later I'll work on getting more setups, since Gladio has Break Damage Limit now.

In case you get tired of the sort of fun fighting with them – You can ice them instantly with the Ring of the Lucii to farm Magitek Suits from them more easily / efficiently.

Note: I've killed like 25+ of them and still have never gotten a V2 from any of them yet.

I'm surprised no one made a separate thread for this.* Not that this is huge and amazing news necessarily, but hearing about it on YouTube only today is the first time I've heard the term 'demaster', so I started looking into it, realising it's actually a thing happening with several games. I find this topic to be kinda interesting. FF6 was my first FF and Chrono Trigger was my first JRPG.

Anyway I watched the first 20 minutes and I actually really like it. It adds this absurd cutesy level to the game (awesome how they reused the voice work) that somehow fits it in this almost laughing of self kind of way. Had to laugh at the lack of 'Stand by me' though. Guess they forgot to extend the rights to it, or didn't bother, or something :monster:

* I know it's covered in the latest Podcast, not the same as a separate thread though
