Anything about fal'Cie?

I'm glad it's being released this year!

I assume they have dropped the FNC. Last time we heard of it was in the E3 '13 trailer.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope not. It would sadden me greatly.

Tremendously, here, as well...

Okay, so this is basically what was said last year:

FFDream: A few months ago, you said that Final Fantasy XV was still a part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation but it will not use his specific terminology like "l'cie" or "Fal'cie" ... Despite of this, why did you decide to use this mythology for the FF XV project ?

Tabata: There are two main reasons for that. The first is that the world of FFXV was originally designed with these elements and links to the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythology in mind. When we came to reajust the game and change it from Versus XIII to XV, we felt it was much better to keep them in there and incorporate them in a very natural way, rather than try and remove all of them at any expense. We'd lose a lot of the world and its attraction if we did that. But why we decided to remove all the specific terminology from FFXIII was because, if you start the story and we introduce these words and ideas from the start, people will think it's still very much part of the FFXIII world. So you'd lose some of the identity as FFXV, and we really want to avoid that. Instead, we decided to not use this specific terminology and to introduce the language of the game in an easy and understandable way, that anyone can follow when they get into the game from there.

Everything is still there just under alternate terms. I do hope they keep Etro.

Just watched the trailer now. I've not been invested into this installment of the series, but it's definitely got me interested. Didn't expect Florence and the Machine to have a cover in there either, it just added to the emotion of the whole situation for me.

I've got the Ultimate Collectors Edition on one tab on the SE store (I normally preorder from GAME, but they don't have this available, so this could be one of those extremely rare times I preorder from somewhere else! Le shock!) and the only deciding factor for me now is the demo, which has just finished downloading on my PS4. If I like what I see, I'm going to take the plunge.

For anyone that was unaware, At the same time the official Uncovered FFXV broadcast was happening another streaming was also taking place, this one was focused around the JP voice cast and some developers, fortunately someone took the time to translate all this, in another forum, here is exactly what went down:

Originally posted by user Rin in MOGNETCENTRAL forum:

UNCOVERED: FINAL FANTASY XV Festival

Source URL: http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv254372856 (Only Timeshifted broadcasts can be watched at this point)
Names in all capitals are surnames.

MC: Susumu IMADACHI (from Elecomi)
Support MC: Yasuaki NASU (Development Manager, FFXV)
Guests:
  • Tatsuhisa SUZUKI (Noctis)
  • Tetsuya KAKIHARA (Prompto)
  • Mamoru MIYANO (Ignis)
  • Kenta MIYAKE (Gladiolus)
  • Tomohiro HASEGAWA (Art Director, FFXV)
  • Ken’ichi SHIDA (Game Design Section Manager, FFXV)

While Square Enix streamed an official YouTube broadcast for Uncovered replete with simultaneous interpretation in Japanese, over at Niconico MC Imadachi hosted an Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV festival that featured the voice actors for the game’s main cast. While the show ran, they––along with members of the development team who joined the show midway––provided commentary on the trailers and made other remarks. The following is a summary of the most newsworthy points (and some funny comments) from this broadcast:

  • Nasu and Imadachi FaceTimed with Yusuke Naora and Hajime Tabata at the start of the broadcast. Tabata met ROEN founder and XV main cast clothing designer Hiromu Takahara for the first time at the Uncovered event (not newsworthy, but their unplanned introduction during the broadcast was funny).
  • The four actors are still doing voice recordings for the game every week. They’re adding bit by bit the lines that the characters say on the field (about random things, sometimes related to the plot). Suzuki revealed that Kakihara doesn’t always follow the script when doing voice recording, but Suzuki says it’s not particularly bad; it’s just a Prompto thing to do (lol).
  • The main voice actors auditioned for their roles at least 6 years ago.
  • The trailer shown at the start of the Uncovered event was edited and put together by the North American Square Enix team.
  • Suzuki explained a little bit about Amano’s artwork, “Big Bang.” The wave seen at the beginning of the trailer is based on a Shinjuku neon panorama, and the artwork is based on Shinjuku (Lucis) as the setting. He also made a comment about the first place that “the four of us start our journey in,” which is Tochō (the Government Buildings area in Tokyo that acts as the model for the palace in Insomnia). I’m not sure if this is confirmation that the game begins in Insomnia, but we do know that Noctis and his friends head out to Altissia from Insomnia.
  • Random: Suzuki said he and the others should be sitting on the sofas that were provided to Greg and Tim (lol).
  • Hasegawa and Shida joined the show at around the halfway point; both have been involved with this project since the Versus era.
  • World of Wonder trailer: according to Hasegawa, all footage is in real-time (from the game display), and this trailer is meant to show different worlds that players will travel through during the course of playing the game. Players will be able walk around in these places and engage in battle.
  • Random: Pretty much all of the XV dev staff in Tokyo watched the broadcast from their office. Here Shida holds up the iPad that’s set to Facetime. They were Facetiming with the staff in Tokyo.
upload_2016-4-2_13-53-11-png.357
  • The scenes in Brotherhood are exactly the same as those in the game. The anime is meant to help newcomers to the series understand what’s going on in the game, such as dialogue and battles.
  • Apparently the R8 that’s used in the Kingsglaive movie (and a real collaboration between SE and Audi) costs 4 million yen, or USD$358,000.
  • Random: Commenting on Lena Headey’s sitting position (when she came to the stage to talk about Kingsglaive), the JP voice actors joked that even though she’s Luna’s voice actress, Luna would never sit cross-legged and that Headey's sitting position looks like Noctis’s. In fact, Headey may be more similar to Cindy (lol).
  • Random: the actors joked that Aaron Paul spilled a lot of beans for someone who only started recording lines for Kingsglaive a few days earlier, while they worked hard to keep everything a secret for 6 years (lol!).
  • Random: when Greg asked about Kingsglaive having the most “stacked” voice acting with Aaron Paul, Lena Headey, and Sean Bean, Suzuki commented, “That should be us, yo,” and the others agreed (lol!). The interpreter had translated the phrase into “most wonderful voice cast” in Japanese, so the actors were responding to that.
  • Nasu explains that the point of the Platinum demo is to allow players to become accustomed to the new battle system before playing the full game.
  • Hasegawa says that SE got rid of the idea of a tech demo (at least, the way they’d explained it back in TGS 2014) and decided to go with a standalone game. That game is what we see now as Platinum.
  • Nasu says that the Japanese Uncovered trailer is the first story-related PV; this longer version was created by the Japanese Square Enix team.
  • Towards the end of the broadcast, we get a sneak peek at what the Collector’s Edition and Deluxe Edition packages look like.

Did anyone else think that the combat system was difficult in the demo? Not difficult in a bad way, but....I certainly hope there's a beginner mode. :closedmonster:

Yeah, did anyone else take 20 mins to beat the Iron Giant? I for some reason could not get the handle of the warping and the dodge seemed very... slow or near unresponsive.

Maybe I'm just used to Type-0 where I hit dodge and they fucking dodge. <_<

I replayed the demo to get the shuriken and shield.

Doing mid-air combos with the sword and shuriken feels pretty badass :monster:

On the balcony above the entrance to the citadel. Warp up, then drop down to it. You need to beat the first Iron Giant to unlock them.

This demo is a feast, to be sure.

I found the "Child-size" Meteorain in the Dining Room, but I haven't been able to use it on anything other than the Nightmares...

Any other secrets people know about? I got the Soccer balls, Rain Drops, Lightning, and Brave Hammer/Sword, but not sure if they apply to Adult Mode or not.

I wasn't at the event to play the demo(which sucked) but at least I saw the gameplay on youtube.

There was one point of the demo with Child Noctis(and I have to admit, he is adorable, for a ten year old, or is he eight?) and I know this sounds very silly, but it reminded me of one of the illusion worlds in the PS3 remake of Castle of illusions starring Mickey Mouse, and a bit of Kingdom Hearts dream wise.

And the world name Eos, is it short for something in the world of FFXV, or just Eos? If you ask me, it's one of the most stupidest names for a world I've ever seen/heard.

^Actually, my sister played the demo (lucky sucker :awesome:) and she said it reminded her of Kingdom Hearts because of the toy weapons and the nightmare enemies. She's all "I didn't really like it and it's really short" and I'm like "Stuff it you, I don't get to play it!" :wacky: But her husband played the demo and he loved it. He's never played an FF game before. He must be converted :monster:

Also, I quite like the name Eos. Is it 'Ae-ous' or 'Ee-ous', I wonder?

Don't know why your sister didn't like it, but then again, everyone has different views in everything. And of course it's really short. Demo games are exactly that-short versions of actual games before the main big thing.

Heh, sounds like FFXV will cause your brother-in-law to become a Final Fantasy fan from the sound of things. My brother-in-law(my sister's husband) isn't really into Final Fantasy that much, but even he agrees with me that FFXIII was the worst Final Fantasy game in history.

Also, I quite like the name Eos. Is it 'Ae-ous' or 'Ee-ous', I wonder?

That's what I'm wondering too. Well, the only way to find out is to play FFXV and listen and hear how the characters of that world say it.

Though I'm thinking, in my thoughts at least, it's short for "Eeons Of Spirits" or something along the lines.

Here's a case of the Developers thinking of EVERYTHING.

Apparently if you Warp Strike a lot, there's a chance you'll warp strike through solid objects by accident, such as the floor of the area.

I got an error message saying "You've entered a restricted part of the stage. Talk about a Limit Break! Returning you to the starting point of the area."

Also, I've been tinkering around with the Iron Giant, and apparently on certain "swings" you can parry the attack and counter with a series of quick-time blows in to a spell finisher... it was really awesome when I pulled it off.

Also, I'm not quite sure how Armiger is supposed to work, I guess it's like a special mode where weapons gain certain properties or attack moves?

Also, on the Balcony of the area, I got some fun screencaps for you guys!

Hrf0yFf.jpg

y9yZXC4.jpg

Noct does a "cool pose" for every weapon he equips. Even the Shield has combos! It's too bad I couldn't get a solid shot of the "ring of swords" effect you get when picking weapons... the animation rate is too fast for that.

As for other glitches, I noticed things in the distance do that "model flicker" thing... also if you try and knock down the the block castles in the Dining Room you get some interesting bugs now and then... got stuck in a fall animation at one point, until I squeezed out of it and knocked the blocks over.

You're probably wondering why I have over 500 gems... you can basically farm the enemies in the second area by spamming Meteorain. You keep getting spells back for clearing the area too.

More Balcony Screenshots for you guys to Drool over!

Finally figured out how to activate Armiger Arsenal, it's L1+R1 together (cool name, though it may take time for me to master using it... I hope there's ways of extending the gauge or active time).

Sorry if the Arsenal looks a little fuzzy and broken up, it's mostly invisible and moving around Noct... it'll be more visible once you collect more weapons to add to the Arsenal I think.

It was a little tricky getting a screenshot of the shortsword that comes with the Hero's Shield as I had to do it mid-combo and pressed a button I didn't mean to, which is why I got that error message in the corner. (Pro-tip for close-ups: find the nearest wall the camera can't go inside!)

That's a no. But perhaps a "Perfect Run"? Okay my next goal is not only 999 shards but stepping on every plate including the hidden gold plate in the second room (covered by blocks on the armchair table in the southwest corner that gives you Meteorain) and the Cross Shuriken and Hero Shield.
