I was actually a fan of the original outfit, and was disappointed when they said it was just a placeholder. Same with the rest of the chocobros. Although their newer designs have grown on me.

I just like that you can switch outfits at the drop of a hat and already have a quite a few to start off with. Ten bucks says that Prompto's beanie and bomber jacket ensemble become part of his costume list after Episode Prompto comes out in June.

Yeah, but out of all of them, Prompto's design was reworked that many times through out the decade, and I wouldn't be surprised that Prompy's outfit for Episode Prompto does become part of his costume list in FFXV.

At least we only have one month before Episode Prompto comes out since we're in May already.

I actually did that on my first playthrough so yep!! You just need to go to the left-most part of the beach.

You can see I wanted to explore more of the dark world... :sadpanda:

WHOEVER SAID THIS GAME WAS FUN NEEDS A SWIFT KICK TO THE BALLS.

Just finished a session and got to the beginning of chapter 10. I just KNEW that the friendship between the four was going to crack at some point and it seems like it's started now. Poor Ignis, though :(

I'm going to cry in a corner again now.

Here's an interesting detail of the ending I never noticed (more that I never understood what I was looking at) until it was just pointed out to me:

When Noct is preparing to give his life, right after he says "Kings of Lucis," we very briefly see the gods appear above the Citadel and seemingly merge while in energy form. They then either facilitate or add their own essences to the "blood price" process, and seemingly pass from the world along with the Lucii.

Even Ifrit is represented in the gathering, as it looks like Shiva is holding his severed horn.

Was I the only to not notice this? :monster:

I haven't noticed that either, honestly.

Yeah, I see all of them except for Ifrit. I don't see anything resembling a broken horn tbh. Just some swirls.

That I guess could vaguely resemble a horn.

It's extremely blink-and-you'll-miss-it (it's most visible before
Leviathan
has even fully taken shape to the far right), but you can see it in this screenshot I took:

Shiva is definitely holding something, and it looks a lot like Ifrit's horn.

Here's an image to compare it against from when Noctis has just broken the horn off, before it goes flying off screen:

Planning on giving the new hunt a go when I get home. I'll letcha know how it goes, and if I decide to try to knock out the other Episode Gladio things.

Didn't Astral Ifrit go rouge though?

He did. Because reasons.

Everyone seems to feel pity for Ifrit, especially since that Pitioss theory started making the rounds, but I still think he's a giant dick for the crap he's caused.

Thought so.
And I agree, Ifrit did pretty much betray them because he was, as you said, a giant dick for the things he did. No sympathy to him from me.

I actually brought this up a few months ago, as have others elsewhere on the Interwebs, but it seems to be making the rounds again.

Anyway, the matter as it's being reported isn't accurate.
An alternate version with a tear does exist, but it doesn't have anything to do with the photo that Prompto takes of the dress. As you can see in that video, it happened with a different picture entirely, and other players reported months ago getting it with pictures that weren't even taken in Altissia.

The stock photo of the dress also doesn't get any special attention when selecting it. It elicits the same generic comments as other stock photos (e.g. "Really takes you back, doesn't it? Makes you think about everything that came before, and after, too"). The photo in that video I linked above was also a stock photo, so I don't think whatever triggered the difference has anything to do with the final photo selection. It's either a version update difference and/or has something to do with the replies Noctis sends to Lunafreya in the notebook.

I'm leaning toward it being a possible combination of a version update difference and the notebook selections, as it isn't simply a version difference. There was another notable difference in the ending that was simply a matter of whether the player had updated the game.

The original final camp scene has Noctis remain in his chair when he tells his bros "Well, what can I say? You guys...are the best," with the camera slowly panning up away from the shot of all of them as he says it (see this video; the scene begins at 18:23, and the specific part under observation takes place at 20:36). In updated versions, though, Noct stands to deliver this declaration, the camera focuses on his face, and it then cuts to black after he says "You guys..." -- leaving "...are the best" to be said after a cut rather than the slow drift to black in the original version of the scene (see this video to compare with the other I posted).

There was also a notable difference in Version 1.00 experienced at the end of Chapter 13 (go to 12:20:00 in this video from the same player as the other 1.00 recording to see/hear it). In the original version, Bahamut spoke in the language of the gods. It was only after Version 1.01 was applied that he began speaking the common language.

You'll notice, though, that despite this player getting Bahamut's original voice and the original final camp scene, they don't have Luna crying at the end of their playthrough.

Others have tried reproducing this teary ending post-Version 1.00 with consideration given to the various notebook responses or pictures selected, but no one else has been able to succeed in anything but Version 1.00 as far as I'm aware.

The fact that the only video we have of this was recorded with a webcam or something similar also suggests to me that this player may not have been playing with their game updated. Whatever other requirements may be involved remain unknown to me.

Now that it's possible to actually take pictures of Lunafreya with the flying Armiger glitch, though, I do wonder what comments the bros would give.
:monster:

Probably something generic and profoundly disappointing. =P

It's really cool that...

Tabata and Co. changed the cutscenes with updates (I assume, based on player feedback).

(Not sure what the issue was with Noct sitting down, what whatever. That's not the point here.)

The last time someone ever did that for a game was probably that slideshow tacked on at the end of the ME3 Extended.

And that was a slideshow with a voice track on top of it. Not a change of dialogue (Bahamut) or a change of position (Noct) to make it feel better.

Bravo.

Smashed around on the new hunt and did ok. Didn't really specialize equipment or anything, and just liberally used items when needed being as I'd maxed out a lot of them from just roaming around nuking scrubs. Having a ribbon might've been helpful on the teammates (mostly Gladio), but nothing major insofar as advice on that hunt.

After the end of the battle, I went to Altissia & got myself up from 106 to level 107. Also, it's nice to have the Ragnarok & Ring of the Lucii back to wander around feeling op af. Additionally, I remembered that Prompto had an item to make my party immune to magic (which is useless given that I've never intentionally used magic in the game, because it was such a ballache to keep hitting your own teammates, I literally didn't even fill out any of the Ascension stuff for it until everything else was completed recently), so I've swapped that out for a better drop item, and am gonna go back to hunting down MA-X ANGELUS-0 and hoping to eventually get a Magitek Suit V2 for once, and also maybe probably do some other misc. hunts and stuff that I didn't get 'round to earlier.

Aside from that, I'm gonna be in Texas from the 16th-19th, so the next hunt even will need to wait for me for a little bit.

FUCKING ARDYN MAN, I SWEAR.

Got on the train, got the tomb on the stop there (I took Iggy with me) and then the train gets attacked. Shit ensued and I hurt Prompto! PROMPTOOO </3

Now I'm off the train and just met up with Aranea. I've got hope Prompto will be ok because of the flashforward at the beginning of the game, but I'm so bloody worried about him!

We haven't done one of these in a while. :monster:

Let's start with some FFXV news: There's currently (until May 28) a collaboration going between FFXV and "Terra Battle," a wicked mobile strategy game from Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of Final Fantasy.

Apparently you'll be able to acquire the Chocobros as playable characters in "Terra Battle" -- which has me seriously considering downloading and installing the game again after not touching it for ten months.

Also, in case you've not come across it already, there's now a "Terra Battle" decal set to put on the Regalia in FFXV. Pretty sweet, and rather appropriate given the bros play mobile games.

With the news out of the way, let's get to the FFXV Fun Stuff Roundup. :monster:

—Prompto and traffic still don't mix well
—Speaking of Prompto, checking out these three exploration videos (1, 2, 3), you can see the steady progression of assets (with significant changes obvious) being brought in for Episode Prompto through the various updates since Episode Gladiolus was released (gameplay spoilers for Chapter 9 and later; possible gameplay spoilers for Episode Prompto)
—And still speaking of Prompto, Iris is really pleased with him photographing her ass
—FFXV: A modern romance
—"Final Fantasy XV: The Phantom Pain" (Chapter 14 spoilers)
—Amusing glitch video of it raining inside a Crow's Nest
—Equally amusing glitch video of a Crow's Nest that didn't load while the NPCs within still did
—Gondola in Chapter 9 that didn't load, but was still functional
—Due to yet another hilarious glitch, this time at the beginning of Chapter 11,
Noctis sits at the table in the dining car while the train carries him all the way to Gralea from Cartanica
—Similar but more unfortunate glitch that took place during the final battle for some player:
Ardyn's HP is fully depleted, but the battle won't move forward
—Really bizarre Chapter 11 glitch leading to an alternate universe where
Prompto was never lost, and everyone is a Super Saiyan
—An odd series of glitches finally ending in a permanent loading screen
—Glitch in which (ha, fun to say) the player had already glitched
the older Chocobros to the past, and was then exploring Steyliff Grove; at some point during this, Noctis's beard disappeared, giving us a good view (before the very, very end of the ending) of older Noct sans beard
—Closeup of the Kingsglaive symbol, in case you've never seen it (yeah, that dragon is who you think it is)
—Video showing the gondola dock Noct would have used to go to the church in Altissia (Chapter 9 gameplay spoilers); the video title calls it an "unused" spot, but it might be more accurate to call it "unseen"
—Using the Death spell on the final two bosses to produce some hilariously skinny versions of them --
—Using Death on the Adamantoise
—Beating every main story boss with Alterna; this produces some genuinely awesome effects -- my personal favorite:
Ardyn getting sucked into the void just as he's about to strike Noctis, begin "dead" for a moment, and then popping back from the void and pushing Noctis to the ground; it really fits with his whole immortality gimmick
—Following the Zu after its appearance at the beginning of Chapter 1 (gameplay spoilers for Chapter 9)
—It's possible to make the Daemonwall in Steyliff Grove follow you down multiple hallways
—Thorough exploration of the Fodina Caestino Mine (gameplay spoilers for Chapters 9 & 10)
—This video really gives you a proper sense of how
full of daemons the World of Ruin was
—A really good look at the Disc of Cauthess crater in
the World of Ruin
—A few small forgotten islands at the "edge of the world" (gameplay spoilers for Chapter 9)
—Some impressive screenshots taken when a player managed to explore the westernmost and northernmost areas of the Lucian continent
—Turns out Eos is actually flat; the ocean pretty much just runs off into space and everything (gameplay spoilers for Chapter 9)
—Even after Version 1.08's patch of the method to get out of bounds in Cartanica on foot, it's still possible to do so using this method
—Interesting demonstration of the potential DPS capabilities of the Scepter of the Pious
—Probably old news to most of you, but cooking the bros' favorite meals at camp allows them to use enhanced versions of their techniques
—Cidney running over a guest party member (Chapter 7 spoilers)
—In the last 15 seconds of this video, it becomes clear just how much
Gladiolus's
brief absence took its toll on the bros
—Noct showing —Sweet-ass Regalia Type-F crash spiral
—Ignis still acting like a frog after being turned back into a human during a battle
—Noctis handing Ignis his dropped spectacles during a battle
—Amazing fanart of the Chocobros' lowest moments (super spoilery for Chapter 9 and after)
—Interesting Ardyn fanart
—Gorgeous Lunafreya fanart
—

Just got out of the Crystal and Noctis now has facial hair. :monster:

I tried fighting off monsters on my own at the bay, but I just kept getting my arse kicked (think I'm like level 39/40?) and sodded it, running off. Do you have to run all the 2 miles back to the city?

Still feeling incredibly sorry for poor Ignis, but I'm so sure I saw his eyes open for a brief moment when they reunited with Prompto. It might've been a glitch, knowing my luck. :awesome:

Going to post some more progress when I get to it! Still questioning why I'm thinking this is game is fun, though...

I have a small update to make about this. Going through the FFXV playthrough from RabidRetrospectGames (the player whose videos from Version 1.00 I linked), I noticed that
they sent the most affectionate responses to Lunafreya via Umbra on all but the last occasion. This leaves me to wonder if they would have gotten the ending with Luna shedding a tear had they sent the most affectionate option that time as well.

It may well be that we'll have no way of confirming any of this until I get the game myself. I don't really want to do a playthrough on Version 1.00, but the needs of science may demand it.

—Speaking of exploration, while we've already seen videos now of

—Also also:

Finally, I don't like to promote this guy's videos at all since he's a major self-promoting douchebag who copies other people's exploration videos without giving them credit (see this video for details, if you're curious), then deletes comments to that effect where he can, denies it where he can't, and accuses anyone who calls him out for his b.s. of being a YouTube competitor hiding behind a fake account ... but his exploration video of Tenebrae is the only one where someone took the time to figure out where in Fenestala Manor that Lunafreya's room was located.
