First taste of Remake BGM

Putting these in spoiler tags as I can appreciate some folks may want to wait until the game to hear these tunes, uploaded by someone who got the JP Vinyl release.

And here are the others finally. Only one left is the Guard Scorpion one I think.

EDIT:
After listening to the Hurry remix, maybe I should not have thrown such a jab at it. Now I see why Square-Enix showcased such a tune like that on the small list of songs to showcase early. This is amazing!

I'm in love. No doubt the goose bumps will come full force when the game loads. I'm just going to sit and stare at the title screen for a while...

I actually agree with your instance. It definitely feels like a beautiful and boy do I imagine hard execution, but it didnt quite catch the feeling of the original. But I imagine that it will feel more at home given the Remake's circunstances, and it would be foolish to me and to anyone to believe every single track would please me they way the original did. By listening to a part of the leaked soundtrack, I can safely say that I wouldnt for anything in the world change the way these tracks are made, so they can be "closer* to the original or please me more.

I know some people may not like the orchestration direction the Remake has taken for most of its music, but as an orchestra/classical nerd, I fucking love it. And it gives FFVII Remake the sort of cinematic, Big Budget Hollywood movie feel the OG wanted to go for. The "Hurry!" and "Scorpion Sentinel" tracks just exude "epicness." I can't... Describe it any simpler than that.

Nobou's tracks mixed in with the new arrangers and the orchestral quality just creates some serious, high quality music. It's just superb. I'm getting goosebumps just hearing these.

And it definitely feels at home with the Remake's visuals. It's so beautifuly integrated, even to gameplay, I dont even know if a "Original Soundtrack" switch would work tbh.

That "Turks" redo is just cringe-levels of "no" for me. Like, it would be great as part of a live performance at Distant Worlds or something like it -- but I sure hope they aren't planning on sticking that in the game.

Yeah I gotta admit, the original Turks Theme has not been beat yet in the 'oozing coolness' department.

Does anyone else listen to this and feel like any second it's gonna transition to this one: :P

Hearing a new version of Hurry! is cool because pretty much everything else is something we've heard a billion versions of already. That's the fun of the VIIR OST, now we'll get new arrangements of everything, not just the fan favorites!

Yea dont really get Turks aswell. I mean, this track is good here, but it's such a departure from the original, I dont feel they even tried to keep it similar. I wouldnt call it cringe levels of no, it is a good track in itself but damn....they really must have had a different direction.

Edit: I gotta say, I cant take it off my mind lol. Damnit Square. Also, The Scorpion Sentinel was probably the one I most awaited for, and holy shit if isnt one of the most epic and insane battle orchestrations I've ever heard. It's definitely up there in my best boss tracks ngl

Maybe it's just because I'm a sucker for guitar, but I really like the new Turks theme. It's definitely different from the original, maybe not as cool as before, but it's got a good feel to it.

I haven't listened to the new music - want to wait to hear it in-game - but I was wondering if you guys think there will be brand new tracks in addition to remixes of the originals.

The Turk's Theme... it feels too "beach rock" for the Turks. I could totally hear it being the BGM of a spy movie set primarily in a tiki lodge with surfboards in the background.

What it lacks is the sleazy jazz club feel the Turk's Theme has always had. Even the Crisis Core version managed to hold onto that feel.

Agreed. I prefer the CC take over this so far. Perhaps there are different iterations of it and other pieces.... or at least I hope there's one that's slightly closer to the original. I mean I don't hate the remake's Turks Theme...and I enjoy different takes on music we've heard redone so many times.... but, I can't say I'm LOVING it.

Heh... that was exactly the take on the Turk's Theme I was thinking of that at least sounded like it was in the same music genre as the OG one. The amusing bit is that Takeharu Ishimoto, the composer of Crisis Core, has done like... three versions of the Turk's Theme
(Before Crisis, Last Order, Crisis Core) to Umetsu's one. And while they all have their similarities (bass, piano/strings filler, guitar melody, drum kit), they got less and less rock-like and more and more jazz-like as new varriations were come up with. Crisis Core was the version closest to the OG in style.

Hooo boy these are terrific.

I actually don’t mind The Turks’ Theme. On this particular track (and perhaps a few others) I think it would be tricky to replicate the atmosphere of the original track given its odd composition. It fit really nice in the trailer with the drums leading up to Aeris’ dress reveal, but the litmus test will of course be how it fits into gameplay. Who’s to say there won’t be multiple versions like the battle themes?

Guard Scorpion one here.

Scorpion Sentinel is mind-blowing and fits perfectly with what’s unfolding on screen. I can’t be the only one who rewinds over and over certain bits because it’s so epic, right? In this instance it’s at 3:51 where it’s been winding you up back to the start of the Bombing Mission theme. Phew!

I peeked at the Turks theme - it does sound like something out of Rocket Power, but I kinda like it.
