Some thoughts on episode 5 and 6 that I haven't had time to put here yet.

First, I loved the scene with Dany and Jorah. Yes I'm a sucker for those scenes, got me a bit teary-eyed and I just loved seeing him confess his love so simply, and her forgive him, and tell him to find a cure. Like, so lovely <3. GoT doesn't have too many scenes like that. ;-;

Not much else to say here besides the fact that Summer and Hodor dying just killed me. Is it weird to say I think I was more upset by Summer's death than Hodor's? Because at the end of the episode I sat there thinking that Hodor was 'made' for that moment, to just hold the door and stop the wights from getting Bran, like through that time paradox thing it literally made that moment his one life's purpose, or rather his life's end. And it was super sad and depressing and you feel so bad knowing that through some freak thing Hodor's life was altered permanently, though at least it was for a good purpose, to save someone's life (but I see why Bran is so distraught over it, he probably feels that he just ruined Hodor's life before he was even born. Like if that was me, I'd have felt that I ruined my friend's life and that I forced him to die for me in the future, and I'd feel terrible about that).
But with Summer, did Summer really have to die? Summer would've been better off running after Bran and escaping through the door with him, to still protect him further on, not by staying behind and sacrificing himself to give them like... 10 more seconds, if that. I just had this terrible feeling in me when Summer wouldn't move and then gets slaughtered and, agggghhh.... :'( Like then Children of the Forest were already doing a good job at delaying the Wights, Summer hardly gave them any more time. Summer whyyyy didn't you run, I just hate seeing the direwolves get killed. ;___;
I never thought Summer would die like that. I always felt Summer was going to live the longest, because he had such a deep meaningful connecting to Bran. He was Bran's legs and eyes, the one Bran first learned to Warg with. I just feel like his death was pointless. >,<
Which reminds me,
I was both sad and disappointed that Shaggydog was killed off-screen. A direwolf deserves a better death than that. Lady was killed off-screen too, but you still heard her die/was there. Shaggydog was just butchered off-screen and you only find out later on when the bastard Umber's present his head to the Boltons. The fuckers. >_>

Main thoughts for this episode, I actually enjoyed Sam's whole storyline, and I love that he didn't leave Gilly there and then took the Valyrian steel sword. I'm curious where Sam's storyline takes him; right now it almost seems like there's no real purpose to it, but like all things on Game of Thrones, nothing is a coincidence. So I feel that the Valyrian sword will play an important part (it's the other weapon that can kill White Walkers, if I'm not mistaken, and as a certain someone in this episode said, the White Walkers will be coming south of the wall (or try to) and thus I think this might be more important once again). Go get 'em, Sam the Slayer :monster:

Next thoughts, UNCLE BENJEN IS BACK!!! It only took us 6 fucking seasons to find out what happened to him! :awesome: But I knew we would. It's been a mystery for so long, no way were they going to leave it that way. Like I said, these things all have meaning in GoT, one of the reasons I love it. Even though it'd been so long since I saw Benjen, he was always there in the back of my mind every season, wondering what part he'd have to play. Seems like he'll be taking care of Bran and Meera now? Will they travel back to the Wall now that the Raven and the Children are all gone? I can't think of any safe haven north of the wall anymore, so it seems practical that they should be traveling back south now to GTFO of there.

Last major thought, Arya's defection from the Faceless Men. :awesome: Awww damnnnnn she really did it finally!
I liked your thoughts on them, Shad, and how you point out that even thought they claim to be no one, they still have their own personalities and emotions that come through (the waif disliking and wanting to kill Arya, Jaqen wanting it to be a quick painless death). As you said, it seems strange that Jaqen wouldn't have foreseen Arya leaving the group. I think he hoped that she would become a Faceless Man because she certainly had the talent and drive for it, but when it came down to her just killing anyone on orders, even good people, she couldn't do it. Which he should've seen coming.
Anyways, I have a prediction here for how this story could play out now. I think the waif will find Arya and they'll fight. Since I can't imagine Arya suddenly kicking the bucket after all this shit and not ever connecting to another storyline and thus making her whole ordeal mean nothing in GoT, she'll kill the waif. And then I think it's possible that she could take the waif's face, wear it, get back inside the House of Black and White, and maybe kill Jaqen.
I only say this is possible because Arya's worn a face before and might already know how to take one off a body (did she learn that yet?) so I think it's possible. Maybe she'll try and lead the Faceless Men and like, control the greatest assassins the world has ever known :awesome:
I realize this prediction has lots of reasons why it might not happen, but it was a thought I'd had, so there. :monster:

Lastly, Dany one again got an epic ending of her on Drogon and mustering her Dothraki horde. Like she steals the ending spotlight so many times. :D But I still love it. Drogon is so cool <3

I love seeing all the storyline's slowly start to come together now. Like you really can glimpse the end in sight. Dany is finally going to head to Westeros with the army she needed, Bran is now the Three-Eyed Raven and needs to stop the Night's Kind, Jon and Sansa are going to try and take back the North, ect.

I am so excited to see the last 4 episodes of this season. :awesome:

Have the showmakers ever stated exactly how many seasons they expect GOT to run for? Do we have any idea how close we are to the climax and resolution? Obviously there will be a Season 7. Will there be a Season 8? 9?

I think, like with any TV show, they'll keep churning out seasons until it's no longer profitable. They'll have to come up with their own storyline and shit though, given that GoT will (and has, for now) run out of them.

I heard and read somewhere that they'd already planned the next book thereafter, supposedly the last, A Promise of Spring? would be split into two seasons but George is still nowhere near starting it.

Originally the treatment D&D had pitched to HBO was a show that would last for 7 seasons. The treatments are basically a rough outline of how the story would start and end, and details would be fine tuned once the show got approval.

However, because no one expected GoT to be such a great hit, an 8th season is definitely in the works, but I don't believe it will go past that. There's already talk that the 7th and 8th seasons will be a shorter episode count, likely because an 8th season was added when D&D originally didn't want that. 7 seasons for 7 kingdoms, that's how it was supposed to go.

The danger with adding more seasons to this as it's nearing its end is that somewhere, some plot line is going to have the drag chute pulled, and that can be harmful to the show as a whole. Look at how fast the 6th season has been moving--do you really want things to slow down right now? The prime opportunity to do that has already passed; I believe the 5th season was the right time to slow things down just a tad bit, especially with the Dorne plotline. I had absolutely no problem with Jaime and Bronn being sent to Dorne, it was just the way it was executed, especially with Ellaria and the Sand Snakes. But it's over and done with now.

I just don't see the point of adding on more seasons. Unlike The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones always had a definite ending.

And speaking of TWD, Robert Kirkman is talking major shit about GRRM for letting the show supposedly 'ruin' :quote: his unreleased books.

Yeah, I like The Walking Dead, but for someone who doesn't even know how his comic series will end, and for a show that is getting predictable season after season, with the the major of your main characters still alive... Whatever, I'm just going to stop right now before I upset someone.

As someone who has read TWD's comics, ASOIAF and has watched both t.v adaptations this sounds hilarious to me. Kirkman sounds like he's just pissy that George's series and t.v. adaptation are better and more popular than his (admittedly both t.v. series are pretty equal in mediocrity these days). What exactly did he expect George to do anyways? Go to production and tell them to go on hiatus for one or two years while he finishes The Winds of Winter and then do it again for like five while he writes A Dream of Spring? So then they would have the complete source material for the last few seasons that they were going to ignore anyways?

Kirkman should really look in a mirror first before criticizing other people because one he has been a producer on TWD and hasn't stop anyone from ruining his material like when they fucked up Andrea's character. And two the show is getting awfully close to catching up to his comics and I'd love to see what he intends to do then.

Anyways I came here to share this article about Margaery.

The titles and run times of the last two episodes of the season has been revealed. Kinda spoilery, you'll probably know the gist of episode 9 by the title alone, so read at your own risk :monster:
Here's the link, and here's the stuff quoted here.
The title of episode 9 (and this is the spoiler-y one) is “The Battle of the Bastards” – presumably referring to the epic Jon Snow vs. Ramsay Bolton face-off that’s been teased all season. The Thrones showrunners have previously told us that season 6 includes the biggest battle in the show’s history and it’s fair to assume this is it. The running time is 60 minutes, which is firmly on the long side. That episode airs June 19.

The title of the finale is “The Winds of Winter” – a nod to George R.R. Martin’s forthcoming sixth novel in his A Song of Ice and Fire Saga (which was also given a verbal shout-out by Arya’s favorite theater troupe in Braavos earlier this season). The finale is a whopping 69 minutes long – which makes it the longest Thrones episode ever. That airs June 26.

Both episodes are directed by Miguel Sapochnik, who helmed last year’s acclaimed “Hardhome.”
The fact that the guy who directed Hardhome is directing the last two huge episodes makes me happy. :awesome:

I for one am sure there isn't going to be much of a fite, or if there is, it'll all end in tears just like that fight where that dude was still alive, :monster:. The guy's not made for fites-as-justice, I tells you.

I think I mentioned it a poast earlier, but the theme of "rebuilding" after the war was repeated again in this episode, with the priest dude and some people in the middle of nowhere building a thing. Off course, it all ended in tears, because off course it does :monster:.

I did like how there were actual bits I recognised from the book again (Jaime at that castle thing). I don't think it was a very remarkable or memorable moment from the book though, I forgot what actually happened there. But then, I've probably forgotten more about what happens in the books than I care to admit, :monster:

^Am I the only one who didn't like her? I thought she was really annoying. :P

I've been lurking here for most of the season and I can't believe people are not talking about the newest episode. I mean I understand that there are lot of things that have happened in real life and E3, but still.

So Arya is returning to Westeros! I think most people saw that coming. Though I was really surprised how easily Jaqen let her go. By the way, can someone tell me why he said that finally girl is no one? I didn't quite get that. How does the fact that she killed Waif prove that she has learned her lesson?

I don't know why, but I wasn't expecting Mereen to really be attacked. I thought it would have been Daenerys and her Dothraki army on those ships after they had retaken Yunkai but I guess not. :wacky: But I'm happy that Daenerys is back in Mereen. I doubt she will be happy to find out what Tyrion has been doing while she was gone. Also the scene where Tyrion, Grey Worm and Missandei tell jokes and Missandei gets a bit tipsy was quite funny.

I was a bit disappointed in how everything ended in Riverrun. So all they had to do is to make a few threats and let Edmure just walk through the gates. How did Edmure even know that he really has a son? He has been a prisoner for ages and now he is willing to help the people who killed his relatives to be with the wife that she has seen once and happens to be the daughter of the man who betrayed him and kept him prisoner and a son he has never seen? I'm sorry if it sounds cold but I think that's just too easy. Even though I guess it's a nice change to see a takeover with no violence in Game of Thrones.

I don't know if I remember much else. The scene with the Mountain was pretty cool. :awesome: Wouldn't want to fight that guy!

It seems like there's going to be a big fight and it seems like another episode where we only get to see what's happening in the north. I would love to hear everyones' predictions. I really can't tell how it's going to end. Somehow I can't quite see it ending too well for John Snow and Sansa. Somethin that I thought could happen
that just when John Snow is losing the fight the army from the Vale comes but instead of destroying just Ramsey takes out everyone and takes the north.
But that's just a guess. Anyway, I'm afraid that it could be the last we see of John Snow, though I truly hope that I'm wrong.

Ultimately the big showdown has to be between Fire (Daenerys and her Dragons) and Ice (The Night's King and the Army of the Dead). The army of the dead are too numerous even for the dragons, so I think wildfire is going to come into it. We've seen two major characters - four major characters - Tyrion, Varys, Yara and Theon - driven by circumstances to throw their lot in with Daenarys. Eventually Jon Snow, Sansa, Littlefinger, and the Brotherhood without Banners will have to do the same in order to defeat the danger that threatens them all. Arya will throw a huge spanner in the works by killing the wrong person at the wrong time.

Maybe Arya isn't Arya - maybe she's the Waif wearing Arya's face?

Haven't really posted much about these past few episodes, and I got incredibly distracted by E3 this week.

I won't go through with a huge play by play like I usually do, but I'll just say that I wasn't too impressed with last week's episode, both story-wise and pacing-wise. That's not to say that there weren't parts I didn't LOVE, but I can just tell that D&D are starting to rush toward the finish line with these episodes, trying to end the season (and the series) the quickest way possible. Yeah, we're overdue for a big battle this season, but some of the storylines these past two episodes have started to feel extremely rushed.

Bah, just ignore me. I'm sure tonight's episode will be fantastic.

Yeah so I'd like to mention 4 moments here from this episode really quick :monster:

Fuck yeah Rhaegal and Viserion are free! All three dragons are once again in the skies! They look so fucking cool. The realism of them just blows me away every time they're on screen. Seriously, gorgeous. <3

Rickoooooon. ;-; I knew he was going to die, poor kid. I knew it when the episode started, and so did Sansa, as she told Jon the night before the battle that they couldn't save Rickon. Just like Ramsay to shoot him like that too as he runs towards Jon. I was actually expecting him to let his dogs loose after Rickon, but thankfully Rickon didn't have to die like that. He died quickly, an arrow to through his chest; that's the only good thing about it. I'm sad to see another Stark go, even though you saw him the least.

That battle tho. Wow, was that a brutal battle. Honestly it's one of the most realistic looking battles in GoT so far, I think. The way it was filmed was amazingly well done. It had me on the edge of my seat. Was happy that Tormund survived it, and Jon and Sansa, sad to see Wun Wun die though. And I was glad to see Littlefinger, because he saved some of my favorite characters with the Knights of the Vale. As much as he's a manipulative creepy bastard, I like his character and I enjoy seeing where his story goes. :wacky:
The next episode preview has him coming up to Sansa and telling her that she knows what he wants. I'm wondering if he's going to ask her to marry him or something. :closedmonster:

FINAFUCKINGLY RAMSAY YOU MOFO YOU ARE DEAAAADDDD. DEAAAAAAAAD. BY YOUR OWN DOGS YOU SICK FREAK, YOU DESERVED THAT SOOOOO FUCKING MUCH.
After all the people he had his dogs eat alive, this was justice.

Tbh I almost looked away but thankfully they didn't show too much of the dog attacking his face. >__>

Would ya look at that, Ramsay is getting promoted to DOG SHIT! Oh how happy I am for him. :muhaha:
