Still in recovery from last night's finale, because O.M.G.

I have to be in class in about 40 minutes so these thoughts might be split up.

I'm so glad I never went crazy with the book/show comparisons, because regardless of the differences or if any of this will happen in some way/shape/form in the books, I am living vicariously through these characters right now.

First of all: that opening montage--WOW. Cycling through the characters as they get ready to start their day, and then continuing into the various scenes at the Sept, beneath it, and back at the Red Keep; very good decision by the director and film editors. You almost get a monotonous feeling until we see that Cersei, and then Tommen being stopped by the Mountain, not joining the others at the Sept.

Anyone notice that Cersei's new outfits look similiar to what Tywin wore? It's like a laser cut pattern on leather over fabric... Either way, she's rocking the high collar and the pauldrons and chain. :awesome:

I was wondering where the 'Light of the Seven' track would be played, and I got my answer as soon as the episode started up. What an awesome track by Ramin Djawadi. It gave these scenes such an eerie feel. If you skip toward the end of the track, you'll notice the main GoT theme being played the organ. Talk about an eargasm.

Poor Tommen. He really didn't deserve everything that had been thrust upon him. The one flaw in Cersei's plan, not going to her son immediately after the explosion...

Speaking of which, while it's awesome to see these characters come out on top, it's equally as gratifying to see that their actions are having consequences. For Cersei it's Tommen's suicide, for Sansa it's guilt about lying to Jon, and then her further distrust of him, spurred on by Littlefinger.

Oooh Littlefinger. You creep. I literally kept saying that after he approached Sansa in the Godswood. Creep. Creep. And Sansa turned him down, LIKE A BOSS.

I honestly thought Melisandre would be executed, but it's good to see that Jon didn't forget that it was through her that the Lord of Light brought him back. Speaking of which, will we see Arya run into her down south? Melisandre did say back in the 3rd season that they would meet again...

I literally started screeching at the TV during the rest of the Tower of Joy scene--at first I was afraid they were totally going to cop out on the reveal, but you can hear Lyanna straight up say 'Robert will kill him, you know he will', and the shot of that baby opening his eyes, with that music...

FUCK YOU HATERS!!!! R + L = J CONFIRMED!!!!

Bella Ramsay is such a wonderful little actress, and completely steals the show as Lyanna Mormont no matter what scene she's in. I hope we see her again next season.

THE KING IN THE NORTH. Seven hells, what a good scene. It evokes a different feel than the first time we see it with Robb in Season 1, and although it's triumphant as hell, you can't help but wonder if this will bode well for Jon. Either way, Sansa doesn't appear to look too happy towards the end, and it's all because Littlefinger is trying to sow those seeds of doubt and distrust. Of COURSE my Stark babies can't just get back to being a happy family once again. Creep. >_>

FREY PIE. We not have Stoneheart, but holy cheesus is this just as satisfying.

HOLY SHIT CERSEI. God, you can tell this woman is just completely empty inside and gives no fucks now that her last child is gone. Was NOT expecting Cersei to be crowned queen at the end, but boy is a wildfire mixture of pride and fear. And Jaime gets back just in time to see it all unfold. You really get this giant sense of foreboding at the glance they exchange in the throne room, and it's really right there that we start to get the feeling that maybe Jaime really will be the little brother to kill Cersei in the end.

Olenna Tyrell officially gives no fucks. It was lovely to see her put the Sand Snakes in their place. I think this is probably the one scene to do with Dorne that I actually enjoyed.

Daenerys. Almost teared up when she put that pin on Tyrion.

AND FINALLY! She is on her way to Westeros. Holy sheet.

There's no way it can be this easy though. Something HAS to happen--she's gotta run into trouble; maybe they meet Euron and get into a naval battle, something. I know everything in her storyline since Season 1 has built up to this moment, but there's no way it can be this easy. There's no way she'll just pull up to fucking King's Landing all hunky dory like this.

Ooooh shit. 10 bucks says when Cersei sees that fleet pulling up into Blackwater Bay she gives the order to start having King's Landing systematically reduced to melted rubble with the rest of the Wildfire and Jaime is forced to stop her to save the people once more, adding Queenslayer to his list of titles. Or maybe they both burn together, seeing as how they came into the world together, and he wants to die in the arms of the woman he loves.

Damnit, now I actually WANT this to happen! :rage:

If there's anything I missed, I'll get to it later--gotta hop on to class!

I can't believe that we have to wait 10 months for season 7!

Honestly thought that the episode wouldn't live up to much after the last one, but holy shit, it did! I need to get this all out in the open now. :awesome:

So let's break this down into sections:

Jon: Holy fuck, he's King of the North now AND I FUCKING KNEW THE THEORY WOULD BE CORRECT! Everyone's been going on about it, but never did I think it'd happen (but then I at least just KNEW that Ned's sister would be the mother). I was almost tearing up at the northern houses accepting him! <3

Sansa: Way to go turning down Littlefinger, gurlalurl. It's about fine time it had to be said and I'm glad she's making her own choices now instead of claiming Winterfell for herself as he advised her.

Cersei: What a beautiful, vicious bitch. I couldn't help, but root for her when she took down the faith. You know what they say about desperate measures and all that. Tbh, I don't think she cared Tommen died. The moment he announced the faith and crown were one, I think something finally snapped inside of her. But having her as the supreme queen is such a daunting prospect...

Olenna: Oh, I've really come to love her recently. I love the way she put the Dorne's in place! :awesome:

Arya: YOU FUCKING BEAUTY! THE WAY YOU WALTZED IN THERE AND MURDERED WALDER FREY. I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER FOR THAT <3

Jaime: He's so going to kill Cersei next season if he gets the chance. He's finally seeing the mess that she's created and there's only going to be one way to stop her. Queenslayer, anyone? :monster:

Tyrion: Aww, him becoming Dany's Hand was like the acceptance he's always been looking for. References to the Mad King in their scene also feels like a foreshadowing, too.

Daenerys: FINALLY. GOING. TO FUCK. SHIT. UP. IN WESTEROS. Just please don't go Mad Queen and stay true to yourself!

Overall, this is definitely my favourite episode of the show so far. It was a fantastic season finale and the flow was really great.

Now I need to go and stare at the wall for five minutes.

Wtf did I just watch!? :awesome:

I think I made a prediction about how this episode would end but I can't find it. Anyway, still called it;
ends with dragons screaming, as usual. le sigh. The king in the nerdth bit is also kinda a repeat from when Robb was the dude.

Anyway they pulled out all stops for this episode, simultaneously concluding a fuckton of things in a big way and opening a whole new can of whoop-ass.

I really wonder how much of it is canon as in just like that in the books though. Not sure how much I care at this point though, the TV show is doing a fine jerb of shit and I'm the last person I thought would be admitting that.

edit: Guess we'll never know whether Margery found jesus or she was just faking it. Maybe her mum knows, although the note she passed a few episodes back was cryptic at best.

Predictions: This'll all end in tears. Nobody will want to follow Cersei because she's pranced about naked in the streets and blew up the church (and I'm sure everybody knows it, IDK why they made that dude crawl there besides for dramatic effect) and overall hasn't made herself any more popular since ever. Meanwhile, there's an army of dragons and shit, a conspiracy from Dorne and Highgarden, and some king up north that probably has a thing or two to say too. I don't think the north will head south though, I'm sure King's Landing and the crown will go to Dany easily enough (or not and dramatic plot twist she dies) and the whole lot will have to go north to stop them ice nerds.

I wouldn't mind (and I think I mentioned this earlier) if those ice nerds had some more backstory though. I mean everyone that dies has a good reason to die; Evil Santa and co are just unmotivated evil, beating them isn't very satisfying, them beating the civilised world isn't very satisfying either. Not on their own. Maybe if they break open a can of fantasy epic, do over the battles from LotR or something.

Anyway how is wossname + who's face confirmed? Only Lyanna, no father was named officially :monster:.

For me the big question is, who will Dany marry? Most of the eligible men are dead; all that's left are eunuchs, dwarves, Jaime Lannister (not even an option) and Jon Snow. He's her nephew but they're both Targaryens so that should be a point in the match's favour.

I agree with Yop. Nobody will follow Cersei, because she inspires neither respect nor love. She's a stupid woman who has created most of her problems for herself. Arguably her biggest mistake was Joffrey; her second biggest was failing see Tyrion's ability and using it to full advantage for her family and her house.

She has made King's Landing irrelevant. Dany doesn't need to make straight for KL - making Casterly Rock her HQ would be easier and would send a clear message that Cersei and Jaime have become irrelevant. I'm sure there's some cadet branch of the family who can be promoted to the Lordship of Casterly Rock. Dany can ensconce herself at Casterly Rock with the Greyjoys watching her back, and wait for the Seven Kingdoms to come to her - because they will. She's everything Cersei is not.

I found Tommen's suicide hard to believe. That whole set piece seemed like a way of quickly sweeping aside a bunch of characters whose stories had become unnecessary complications to the main plot. But who knows - maybe Margaery isn't dead.

I read a fan theory that Ser Jorah will encounter the Red Woman and she will cure him of his greyscale. I guess we'll find out next year....

He's some Danish actor of no big name, I read about him, was really odd that he'd show up - too bad they dubbed him; apparently his accent was too strong XD

Anyway,
that scene where Cercei takes the Iron Throne was absurd, confusing, sad, strange, and joyful all at once. I really think it's one of the best scenes of the entire show. Basically this woman has been talking about how she's had to watch the men in her family snatch power right in front of her all her life; had to see her husband, father, sons, and all other relatives (whether she killed them herself or not) to die in order to take the throne. And now she has it. idk it was just a really layered moment that had me in awe for the actress.

As for the rest of the deaths... about time/ deserved/ whatever/ shrug/ oh well/ yawn. And Jon "Snow"... meh. I hope people never find out. Until he starts flying dragons or whatnot :monster:

/ not really watching

I forget, is "The Prince That Was Promised" the same thing as "Azor Ahai"?

*waves hand in the air energetically Ooh, ooh, I know. Azor Ahai was a legendary hero-prince; the Prince that was Promised is a Messiah figure. Some people think the PTWP will be a reincarnation or avatar of Azor Ahai; others think the PTWP will fulfil the same role in the present world as Azor Ahai did in his time. (In the same way that people who believed in the Messiah were never sure whether he would be a reincarnation of the prophet Elijah or just fulfill the promises of Elijah).

Random thoughts about GoT, mostly pertaining to Season 7.

It's interesting to see the Tyrells (what's left of them at least) and the Martells (Ellaria and the Sand Sneks :quote:) team up to help Dany. Ellaria helped contribute to the Tyrell's downfall by killing Myrcella, which led Cersei further down the path of no return.

And I wonder if they show will touch on Tyrion's feelings on the deaths of his niece and nephew. Joffrey was a c*nt, but Tyrion loved Myrcella and Tommen. Dany has allied with Ellaria and the 'Martells'... But how is he going to feel when/if he finds out that Ellaria killed his innocent niece?

And although I love Olenna to death, Cersei's vengeance quest started with her and Littlefinger's killing of Joffrey. Admittedly, Cersei has brought a lot of things upon herself, but still.

Oh and I'm calling it now--for Season 7, when Cersei sees those ships sailing into Blackwater Bay with those 3 dragons, she loses her shit and gives the order to have King's Landing reduced to scorched rubble. And either Jaime is going to kill her to prevent that from happening, or it happens anyway and they both die, and he can go out in the arms of the woman he loves.

Oh and 10 bucks says that Euron's and Dany's fleets do battle on the way to Westeros. :monster:
