I am going to describe each of the main events of this episode in five words.

DANY'S COUNTER-ATTACK AT MEREEN- Well, it's about fucking time.

THE NEGOTIATION WITH BOLTON - Should have listened to Sansa.

DANY'S ALLIANCE WITH THE IRON ISLANDS - Fuck yeah. Also, lesbian lovers?

RICKON'S DEATH - Farewell, boy who did nothing.

BATTLE GOING TITS UP - Should have listened to Sansa.

THE RALLY W/ THE KNIGHTS OF THE VALE - Well it's about fucking time.

RAMSEY'S DEATH - By his own fucking hounds!

...for killing off a character we love to hate and having justice prevail for once!

When's the next little shit going to terrorise us? :monster:

Oh shit you're right;
we don't really have a major shit everyone wants to die anymore, do we? Maybe that Frey guy, but he's funny so I'd allow him to live. I wonder where they're going to head to next. I don't think it'd be fitting if the ice dudes take over the role of bad guy, they don't have any personalities and the series, both books and TV shows, are all about personality. Plus the ice dudes are just generic evil, not the killers of <character everybody liked>. Well, except
Hodor, but they were generic zombies.

Anyway, the visuals in this episode were pretty damn good, Jon's long battle scene was an interesting mix of what I think was either CGI and/or clever editing and practical acting/effects, dudes coming out of nowhere and shit. It went a bit weird at the end of the fight though, I mean they have a giant, they should've given him a log and they'd be out of the press quick enough. Or just push to one end. I don't think the surrounding with spears is a valid battle technique, anyway.

Dude, they based the encirclement battle with the spears largely around the Battle of Cannae with the Romans and the Carthaginians, where Hannibal used the envelopment technique. :monster:

All in all, very good episode. Never been on the edge of my seat with this show more than this episode right here. I laughed, I gasped, I jumped, I cried...

Despite how little we saw of him, Rickon's death was emotional for me. I knew somewhere in the back of my mind that he would not survive, especially when Sansa straight up told Jon that Ramsay

That was just the cruelest way to taunt an audience. Give them the slightest hope and... man. It just makes me incredibly sad, that three Starks were all right fucking there and... :(

The shots of Rickon running, Jon riding with his hand outstretched, the shots that pan out to show just how far away they are... Good god. I didn't think anything else this season would mentally screw with me after Hodor, but damn, I love my little Stark babies, especially Rickon.

Ramsay's death? Pure poetic justice. And they said Season 5's plot did absolutely nothing for Sansa's storyline. :awesome:

It's hilarious to see people jumping on her character's bandwagon now when many fans still admitted that they didn't like her, no matter how much she had changed since Season 1.

I'll give the rest of my thoughts later. I need to work on homework and go to bed, have another graveyard shift tonight unfortunately.

I just rewatched the episode. This season is so good that several times I've felt like I wanted to watch the episode again just after watching it for the first time, but this time I actually did that. :awesome:

Even though I really liked the episode, I kinda felt that there were no real surprises to it. In Game of Thrones terms it ended the best way possible and I quess I was expecting that at least one of the more important characters to die, but instead they are all alive. Of course Ramsey is dead, but he deserved to die and won't be missed. Rickon hasn't really been around much for the last two seasons so I wouldn't say he is that important and I think it would have been more surprising if he hadn't died. It was still quite sad because he was probably the Stark that deserved it the least. He never did anything to anyone. :'( Wun Wun's death was also sad but I knew it was coming. There was no way the only giant would stay alive. I am a bit surprised that John Snow is still alive, and I am really intrigued to see where his story will go after this.

I really enjoyed the parts with Daenerys and it seems she is finally headed to Westeros. The thing that kind of seems weird to me is that so far the show has made it quite clear that she is not really able to control her dragons, but suddenly it seems like they are much more manageable than before. It doesn't bother me too much but it does seem awfully convenient. The two other dragons don't even seem to be mad about Daenerys locking them underneath the pyramid for a year or so.

Something I noticed after watching the episode again is that there is a bit of a plot hole. Before Ramsey is killed by his dogs Sansa says that he said himself that he had not fed them in seven days. The problem is that Sansa left the negotiations before Ramsey said that. I know someone could have told her afterwards what he said but her words make it sound like she heard him say it and not that she heard from someone else that he said it. Maybe it's just my inturpitation but still.

And as for who is the new little piece of shit, how about Robin Arryn? I think he posses the qualities though is clearly easier to manipulate and not quite as cunning as Jofrey or especially Ramsey were. Also he might be a bit too young for it, but he is probably the closest when it comes to the characters people are familiar with. Euron Geyjoy might be another but he has had very little screentime so far so it's too early to tell.

re: Kuro:
IDK about the Arryn kid, he's more of the naive shit, more of a victim of his mother than being something intrinsically evil. If he dies, I'm sure it'll be met with indifference or pity.

Also, S06E09 spoilert. Totally cannon.

also: GoT cast to get big salary bump for season 8; the top actors will get north of $500.000 an episode (although in comparison, didn't those Friends actor get $1 million / episode back when?), and another interesting rumor is that upcoming seasons will have less episodes; probably due to both lack of source material and increased cost of episodes.

idk, I'm somehow convinced that shit will dwindle after this season.

The Big Bang Super Trio (Leonard, Penny and Sheldon) have been getting a million per episode last 2-3 seasons at least.... but yes the Friends cast were first to do it, as a group, mostly.

Game of Thrones Season 6 Score was released yesterday, for any music nerds who care *looks at JT*. The score for this Season has definitely been outstanding. Season 5 had some GREAT tracks despite being one of the most mediocre seasons of the show, but Season 6's score has blown me away. Ramin Djawadi has definitely outdone himself this year.

Track names are under the cut. It's worth noting that there are significantly more tracks on this score than any of the others, almost as much as Season 1; and some of them are quite a bit long! There are several bonus tracks as well. Only $9.99 on iTunes for almost 30 tracks. This might be the one score I'll actually buy this time around. :closedmonster:

I'm one of those wierd people who never really notices the music. I mean, I guess I register that it's there, but I couldn't have told you what it sounded like once the episode is over.

The only song that has ever stuck with me is the awful crescendoing piece that plays when
the bodies of the farm boys who have been killed and burnt in place of Bran and Rickon are revealed
. I love love love a good soundtrack, but yeah, the music seems to take a backseat in this series for me. Not it's not good, mind, but I just haven't found it to be that memorable.

Music for most TV shows, movies, and video games is pretty unmemorable TBF; some notable exceptions, I guess, but most of it is just what it's supposed to be; background music, matching the visual content and expressions, not necessarily good musical pieces (or listenable) on their own.

I was just posting it in case anyone's interested. *shrugs*

I think GoT has some pretty memorable pieces, if you just listen them on their own without the show happening in front of you.

Caught up to Episode 9.

Wun Wun (whose passing I am the most saddened about) and all of the countless other forces attacking Winterfell died because she refused to tell Jon and the others on countless occasions that Littlefinger had massive numbers of additional forces to assist them. Fuck her. Even when she's helping people she's still fucking useless.

Also, being eaten by his own dogs was far too poetic and kind a death for that cunt. They should've broken his arms and just fed them his legs and then given it another week to figure out what to do with the rest of him.

This is quite a lovely and eerie track from the Season 6 score called 'Light of the Seven'. One can only guess that we'll probably here it tonight during the finale at some point. A beautiful combination of piano, strings, organ, and chorus. Reminds me of Final Fantasy at some points. A long track, but well worth the listen. I haven't hear Ramin Djawadi use much piano in his scores throughout the series, so this was definitely a surprise to hear.

Best season finale of the series so far and I honestly don't think they are going to top it. I'd like to be proven wrong.

Everything just speaks for itself.

AND THE WORDS OF HOUSE D&D ARE: FUCKING FINALLY!!!!!

Ridiculous Fan Theory Confirmation Hat Trick: Wildfyre, Red Wedding Revenge AND R+L=J!!!!!

Like don't get me wrong, I was 100% convinced of R+L=J. 100% BUT TO FINALLY get confirmation and then to have he named King of The North immediately afterwards.

Also people dying like crazy in this episode. I had to keep a count:

My list said:
Deaths:

Pycelle - Stabbed to death by kids
Lansel Lotta Fire Down Here - Stabbed by kid, then burned by Wildfyre
The High Sparrow - Point Blank Immolation
Lawrece Tyrell - Point Blank Immolation
Margery Tyrell - Point Blank Immolation
Papa Tryrell - Point Blank Immolation
Religious Bitch - Tortured endlessly by Ser Gregor.
Tommen Lannister - Suicide (because why the fuck else would they be holding on that open window)
Walder Frey - Ego Cock-Slapped By Jaime Lannister, then killed after eating his sons BY ARYA MOTHERFUCKING STARK.
Walder Frey's Sons - Carved up for food by Arya Stark.

Injuries:

Meilsandre - Banished... because Jon Snow is stupid.
Daario Naharis - Friendzoned. No, no... Governorzoned.

And yeah, ARYA WAS THE ONE TO AVENGE ROBB. That had to be the case. She has used her assassin training to great effect and I was soooooo fucking happy! Also it seems the baby Starks are on their way back to Winterfell.

==

So now we have The King in the North: Jon Snow, the Queen on the Iron Throne: Cersei Lannister, and the Queen Mother of Dragons: Dany. This is going to be one hell of a Season 7.
