Been watching alot of Fairy Tail as of late. (possibly my favorite anime series). I've been waiting for the collections to be released and just watch all of the episodes in that collection. I got up to Episode 96 by doing this.
However, I went to order collection 5 the other day which would have seen me through to episode 120 I believe but I couldn't justify paying £40 to watch just 24 20 minute episodes. So I bit the bullet and started to watch the episodes on Kiss Anime.
I'm now up to episode 155 in about 4 days worth of watching and finally got to the Arc which features the character that got em into this show. Sting voiced by Michael Jones from RoosterTeeth.
Seriously Love this Anime and as much as I want to start watching Re:Zero right now I can see myself getting up to date with Fairy Tail pretty soon.
Edit: up to episode 160 now with 15 episodes left of the original run left which I should get through on my day off on Thursday. Seriously heroin is less addictive than this anime to me.

The new seasons finally here \o/ I've already watched all of Re:Life (as if Crunchyroll uploaded all 13 episodes in one go) it's really good, I can't wait for a second season of this so I'm going to have to start reading the manga. I've also checked out Orange, it reminds me of Ao Haru Ride (Blue Spring Ride) I can see it being another one to watch this season. Beserk was exactly what you would expect as well, it was brutal and brilliant, I can see why the animation might put some people off but I personally like it as it's nice to see more developed styles than the go to standards every now and again. I also watched the first episode of The Morose Mononokean, it's pretty much the standard, nice guy who can see spirits story, I didn't really get into it and doubt I will carry on with it unless i'm bored.
Has anyone else found the last two episodes of Re;Zero a bit hard, Suberus character is definitely off right now, but i get the feeling it's intended after all the grief he's been through.

^Aye. Even encouraged Joe to watch it a few pages back on this thread. Also began to read the light novels (although only the 1st volume was released in English).

I wouldn't say it's up there with Berserk, really. It's a lot less graphic, for starters.
But what it does, it does very well. I did not start it last season but after I heard it was so popular, started to watch it a month ago. Fortunately I was able to watch it blindly. It's been great!!
Interestingly enough, it's not the first time I manage to initially miss something that goes on to become one of my favourites of the season (if not THE favourite).

Recently finished watching both seasons of Fate/Zero (more like 2 parts season :/ ), pretty solid anime on its own right, good starting point for introducing someone to the Fate franchise.
I haven't been watching any new 2016 anime, yet. The only anime that I´m currently following is Dragon Ball Super.

^ I personally preferred Fate Stay/Night which is chronologically later but was actually made earlier. Pretty good series.
My personal favs for 2016 so far were Erased - Boku Dake ga Inai Machi, and Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, by quite a margin.

^ The latest series Unlimited Blade Works was probably my favourite, I prefer that story arc/ending and god the old first series' pacing was slow. Erased was amazing too

^Actually, for this season, one that I've been enjoying much is Thunderbolt Fantasy, the new weird project of Gen Urobuchi with the team of Taiwanese puppeteers. Not actually an anime but you can't really classify that with anything else.
From your list, I've been following 91 days and Alderamin on the Sky, which I find enjoyable but on a level below the ones I mentioned before. My SO enjoyed Re: Life, but that wasn't really for me.

This season, 91 days looks the best and I'll probably catch up with it. Other than that, nothing really stood out to me, but I might look up with Mob Psycho, which looks fun and is created by the same guy that did One Punch Man and produced by Bones and that's a pretty stellar combo. Saiki made me laugh too, but it's a short series.
Last Season had more substance. Kabeneri ended really disappointingly but I still hold true that it was a pretty fantastic run, even if it is extremely derivative. I mean, if every season has a 1000 harems and cute girls doing cute things, I welcome shows riding off the Attack on Titan hype, especially when they worked as hard with this show. I still maintain that the first 5-6 episodes are worth it.
And Boku No Hero also is angling on my top 2 this year. I like good shounens and it had me smiling all the way through.

That being said - the game is currently running, and is censored.
The DVD could end up being more grotesque.
I also made the comparison more on the basis of the psychological element to the violence.
What makes Berserk, Gantz and now, Re:Zero's violence so heavy IMO is because they subject established and humanized characters to it, rather than random fodder characters of no consequences.
Non of the three aforementioned anime comes even remotely close to the violence of Ninja Resurrection - arguably one of the most senseless gory anime ever made - but it doesn't have the same impact as any of these others, simply because the only people who're dying bear no relevance to the main-characters nor to you as the viewer.

Happens to me all the time - usually I figure, because the best anime is hardly ever the most popular.
Most people who watch anime are the kind of people who just want to fry their brains watching vapid shit like the Asterisk War, and so that's the anime that gets pushed to the front.

Nah, I don't see Re:Zero being on the level of Gantz. I haven't seen Ninja Resurrection or Beserk (for a number of reasons), but Gantz feels a lot more hard than Re:Zero. I've felt sick after reading Gantz, something that Re:Zero hasn't done to me yet. I feel like the Gantz guy sits there and thinks of more horrifying, grotesque ways to kill someone off, and while Re:Zero is occasionally brutal, with all the dismembering and disemboweling, but watching a guy have dozens of parts of himself claw his way out of his own head while begging others not to kill him is one of the most horrifying things I've seen in awhile and I have tried to forget and my mind won't let me.
It might also be the added extremely disturbing sexual violence as well. Re:Zero pretty much wants to just kick the crap out of Subaru, and even when other characters die, the only thing that would really turn heads is what's done to him. The show is pretty nice to its waifus, minus the deaths, they aren't prolonged torture like done to Subaru. And Gantz is all... ALL PAIN ALL THE TIME TO EVERYONE EVEN YOU GRANDMA, want to see someone implode from the inside out, lol, of course you do, here you go, also have some dead kids.
I feel like Re:Zero is just more watchable. I haven't watched the shows in a long time, but it feels like it's more on Deadman Wonderland or Claymore's level than Beserk or Gantz. It could just be the mission statement of the show too.
Re:Zero is all about making Subaru suffer, psychologically and physically, and seeing him through it all. The violence isn't as prevalent because seeing how Subaru reacts emotionally takes priority in killing him.
And Gantz is pretty much gore porn and wants to put a lot of different people into increasingly lethal and horrifying situations and watching it all go to shit. For a long time, it was a shock when characters were there long enough to be reoccurring.

I don't see how any of this conflicts with what I just said.
I just admitted that Re:Zero is less gory.
My point is that I wasn't comparing the level of gores of the series - I was comparing how all those three shows/manga comment on the psychological effects of violence by having that violence happen to characters that actually mean something to the audience, rather than simply having it splatter entertainment happening to people you either don't care about, or actually want to see punished (like villains etc.).
Also, how many times do I have to say "almost".
I am definitely not saying they're at the same level.

I just thought it was an odd comparison. Like saying Hunger Games was almost like Saw.
But since we are on Re:Zero, I haven't watched the most recent episode but the one where
Rem confessed to Subaru made the fandom go insane. I actually had a big laugh about the whole "I love Emilia" in response to the whole thing, but I liked it.
It feels like Re:Zero is going down the path to a ship war, only the ship war is just an overwhelming amount of Rem fans screaming into the void. It honestly makes the most sense, imo, if none of them get together in the end.

I think those two are further apart. More aptly I think Re:Zero's take on violence's psychological effects are similar to Gantz and Berserk the same way that Hunger Games is similar to Battle Royal.
Specifically, scenes like the first death of Tae in Gantz, or the infamous rape scene of Caska is very similar in both composition and impact to that of the ending of episode 15 in Re:Zero.
This annoys me about anime fans in general. Shipping is a horrible trend in fandoms that needs to go and die in fire as far as I'm concerned.
The way I see it, the plot of the series is really up in the air at this point.
For all we know, it's going to end up with the cliche of the protagonist waking back up in the real world, figure out he had a stroke, or got hit by a car or something, only to see that many of the people he met in this "alternate" world were actually people that lived around him all this time but that he never interacted with because he was a shut-in nerd, with the moral of the story being "you need to get out of your house, live your life and meet people".
He definitely isn't going to end up with Rem though, simply because no anime I've ever seen actually ended up pairing the protagonist with the "loyal friend on the side-line character".
The entire Rem scenario thing is giving me a real "Scrapped Princess"-vibe a la what happened to the protagonist there and the character "Fulle".
