No characters have been verified thus far. Some people believe people appearing in the trailer look like former protagonists of the series, but I'm not looking too deeply into that as of yet.
Bullshit, plenty of games take place in other countries/visit them and they don't affect their sales at all.
Hell a lot of the best selling games don't even take place on earth, this is a shitty excuse to not have another game taking place in a foreign country.
Or whatever the hell that last guy was.
Dacon said:It'd probably cost a lot to go and do a full citywide scan of Tokyo.
Still, it's always Americans going there for some reason. They couldn't even get a Dutch person to voice the Dutch character in Deus Ex, ffs. Name me one video game in a foreign country or outer space where the protagonist isn't an American. You win the prize if you find one - and you win two prizes if it's an American or Canadian-made title.
And Tomb Raider don't count 'cause I thought of that one myself. Or the fellow from GTA IV.
Yeah, but exactly how much more? Percentile-wise, of course. But also, they'd have to compete with Yakuza then. Not sure if any of those games take place in Tokyo though, nor how detailed they made that one.
The Call of Duty games feature British protagonists undertaking missions over seas, and Psycho in Crysis Warhead is British. Crytek is german though, but still.
The Assassin's Creed games feature protagonists who are far from American in very foreign settings but they do INCREDIBLY well in the market.
All these games still feature central protagonists that are American though,![]()
I think Rockstar sets GTA in America because America is funny. There's no country that's funnier to make fun of than America.
Okay I give up I got nothin'.
To specify what I meant, there's certain aspects of American society that Rockstar has grown comfortable poking fun at for their source of humor; American consumerism, our pathetic politics, outlandish American citizens, so on and so forth. It's stuff a lot of people worldwide can relate to, so it's a 'safe' choice.
But you're right; Japan is an excellent choice for a new GTA game. It's just that Rockstar has to find a way (and it's not hard. Pretty much every game they make is stellar) to creatively work around some of the inherent limitations of the setting, a lot of people are unfamiliar with Japanese culture, Japan isn't as diverse as America (or anywhere, really. Japan is one of the most static cultures in the world), and it would require a lot of work and research on Rockstars part to make a convincing, solid Japanese crime story.
But can it can be done. It's just a hurdle. But hey, that's why I think they're so focused on America. There's gotta be some reason, right?
You literally respond like a 12 year old on 4chan.
Like usually if people are swearing and trying to insult you it doesn't mean they're wicked happy, obviously you're going to say you're just typing but yeah, don't put that out there and then act like somebody is retarded when they assume you don't love them.
you just said you weren't mad and I said when you swear and insult people it doesn't make you look happy. But you just said you're flamebaiting me or something in another thread so that's cool, I thought you were playing the mature adult when you called me a troll but whatever. I guess switching your position every other post is cool.
There's a lot more political load if they were to make a Wapanese GTA though - I mean, it's usually acceptable for a country / people to make fun of itself, but it's a different game when you poke fun at someone else .
...Of course, they make fun of Chinese in GTA too. Nevermind, .
They would rule if they did GTA Baghdad though. Poke fun at the war and the middle east and stuff. Plus they could add Dubai, which is growing out to become the most glamorous / expensive city evar. Not sure if there's any gangs there though, but... fuck it, .
Mommy, can I have some herp with my derp? Read the shit you're writing. It doesn't even make sense, but keep trying, you'll get there.
Also tbh, I feel like it's about time GTA moved past these generic criminal stories. For once I'd like to play as a normal guy with a normal life, who gets swept up in shit he can't control and does his best to do right by himself and his people.
