Guessing Game: When will we get the remake?

Well, that leak says early November this year, though I'm hard pressed to put my one on that.

The original PSOne Japanese release date is January 31st and the worldwide PS4 release December 5th. FFXV came out early November as well.
Which one is the most likely? Are there any other significant dates?

January 31st would mark the 22nd anniversary, but December 5th would benefit from the holiday season and early November might take advantage of Black Friday (November 29th), although to put it on sale less than a month after its release would be treason!

Let me ponder on that for a little while longer.

Those are all good points. January 31st is especially a good choice. If the game IS supposed to make it for the holidays this year, and there is even a minute delay, I would expect a January 31st fallback date for certain. A whole lot of us seem convinced about January, in fact.

For the sake of record, here are the names and dates currently called:

Kain424 January 14th 2020

Castiel Strife January 17th 2020

Alex Strife January 29th 2020

Celes777 February 17th 2020

JechtShotMK9 March 26th 2020

Animexcel April 7th 2020

trash panda August 11th 2020

SeaDragon October 20th 2020

Tetsujin February 23rd 2021

Mr. Ite November 20th 2021

The Twilight Mexican November 21st 2021

Shademp January 31st 2022

LicoriceAllsorts February 19th 2025

There are also quite a few vague predictions about a certain month or time of year, but I'll allow people to name a date. Special mention to
Tetsujin, who is going to dye his hair blue if it comes out in 2019. So I'm all about that. Pot currently at $100

I seriously hope those saying late 2020 onwards are joking.

That would make it a PS5 title when State of Play was explicitly for PS4 titles with no next-gen stuff. Says to me that there’s a release date or window that isn’t yet public coming up soonish

Nomura has also very recently used, for the first time, the phrase “leading up to release”.

With SE stating that they would only start to market games a lot closer to release makes me think they’d start to market when the game is a year out at most.

The FF social media channels are also FF7 orientated with the PlayStation twitter pinning the recent remake trailer

Ok, I'll join in.

December 5th 2019 (thursday) with a delay fallback date of January 31st 2020 (Friday).

Suggestion: I receive half of my share if Jan 31st is the announcement date (I'm only betting on Dec 5th because nobody else has occupied that spot yet), full share for Jan 31st, if it happens to be the release date after an official delay (KH3 style). Sounds fair?

+$50 to the pot!

I finally got around to watch the trailer, for some reason the characters look weird to me...

I'm going to guess that the launch window for the first episode is late Q4 2019 or early Q1 2020, with the final episode released by the end of Q4 2022 so they can release a complete edition for the 25th anniversary.

Square Enix announces projects way too early in the pre production phase, but when they actually go into full production and the marketing campaign begins, things start moving really fast.
