Chug chug chug chug.
Since most of my stuff looks like rainbow vomit, I decided to try painting this with only red blue and green.

I really like the way you draw hair. You manage to hit that happy medium between hair being "one solid mass" and "individual strands". It has a nice "naturally messy" feeling to it.

^^^ Thank you. :D

:excited: Okay guys, I'm really excited to share this with ye' fellow arteests! I was able to successful make sort-of-alcohol-ink with 91 proof rubbing alcohol and sharpie markers.

Basically, I just popped open a few sharpie markers, took out the little foam ink cartridge, and soaked them in alcohol for, oh...a month:

The result is just what I wanted:

This is exciting because ink is so expensive. Reasonably priced pigment inks are $4-5 per ounce and alcohol inks are about $5-6 per ounce. You could easily make an eight ounce jar with just a few sharpie markers and a bottle of alcohol. :excited:

Note, however that these can't be used on canvas. It will basically just eat through any sizing that's on your canvas, destroy your paper, etc.. I 'm using it on Yupo (synthetic) paper, which is sort of like painting on a sheet of plastic. It works well on glass too.

They are transparent but can be built up semi-opaque, and because it's made with alcohol, they dry VERY fast.

Even if you don't consider yourself to be an artist, painting with is like free therapy. :awesome:

I guess when I'm not being a lazy twat, I'll take a better picture because on this one you can see alllll the texture of the paper. :wacky:

Texture of the paper doesn't necessarily take away from the artwork. One of my classmates does trippy stuff with the surface texture to add to their work. I haven't ever seen them in class to ask about their process though :P.

^ Okay, I like the texture now...it's found a place in my heart. :D

I wish I could invite you all over to my house to do this with me because it's SO relaxing. :wacky:

Yeah, I did some crappy cropping in paint. It's late. :wacky:

I really like that Jenova one, the paper texture actually adds to it in my opinion. The color's beautiful, and the line work is beautiful. <3
Did you do the colors with watercolor?

I like how your Jenova looks like something out of classical sculpture from the shoulders up... and then is straight out of a horror film from the shoulders down.

Jenova was done with watercolors and white acrylic. ^.^
I just noticed that her right side is uneven but before I decided to put some hair there, her torso actually looked fine despite the curves. I wanted to make her a little curvy but she still came out a little too scrawny IMO. ^.^

You're really good at painting traditionally; I've never really delved into watercolors myself, so I really love seeing other people use it nicely like this. ^.^

I have to stop looking through people's threads in the "Creativity" section - I'm beginning to realise what a talentless f*ck I am when it comes to drawing :D

Seriously good stuff! Love the Ultimecia, in particular

I know what you mean Red, I watch youtube videos of people painting all the time (not time lapse, but real-time) and some people can whip out masterpieces in 20 minutes or less. And then I'm like...

On the other hand, you can find a lot of inspiration from looking at other people's work. I poked around Flare's art for a few days and found myself wanting to go buy clay and bake some baby chocobos. ^_^
