Nanaki, I don't watch youtube vids of people doing art, but I see speedpaints of bleed-your-eyes-out-it's-so-f*cking-beautiful art and stuff, and I'm like, I can't draw an environment like that in 5 hours. How do they do it in 20 minutes?
I'm not a speed artist, I suppose.... unless it stick figures. XD

I made the ink (in the background) with sharpies and rubbing alcohol.
The Cthulhu looking thing is done with acrylics. I actually did buy these to see wot neat things could be done with them because my mom is about to rebuild her bathroom and I want to (f)art all over it. ^.^
All you have to do is put epoxy over it and it's basically invincible.
Anyhoo, it's cheap and easy and it only looks like I spent more than 5 minutes on it. My blind grandma with no arms could make a masterpiece with a piece of tile, sharpies, and alcohol.

Lightroom is a program similar to photoshop. They're all watercolor/mixed media and modified in Lightroom.

And then...so...I was going for a Queen Brahne, pre-bitch era sort of thing...idk. O_o
I guess maybe I'll finish this if I ever have time? I cba to figure out what the hell is going on with her head piece in the fmv image I used for reference so I just sort of made some stuff up. And that's not a worm crawling across her upper lip - it's a highlight I forgot to color. Also, I know her shirt isn't all wrinkled up but I'm practicing folds and shadows and stuff. Ofc, anything that's crooked will be fix'd with acrylics later (i.e. some parts of her head piece). Her outfit is a little loud in the game so I think I'm going to just stick with pinks and golds.

Howl, your art is stunningly beautiful. Do you ever sell it or do commissions, or is it entirely for your own pleasure - and ours when we look upon it?

I do do commissions (although I've only ever done a few in my life). Last year I was charging between $75-$150 for a 22"x30" painting. Ofc, I only sold one for $75. I'd rather just sell things that I paint on my own though because I usually lack the motivation to do commission pieces.

I love your coloring style! The detailed pieces (love seeing the details on the drawings on the progress pictures, too) and the speed paint both look super good (the older speed paints you posted don't seem to load anymore ). I really like the Jenova piece in particular, especially how Jenova looks simultaneously pretty and creepy.

Okay, so normally the way I draw people is I do a nude sketch and then I add clothes by having them sort of follow the shape of the body, then I figure out which bits fold in which directions...now....
With Tifa....*scratches head*...I tried sketching this out about a hundred and one times and there's just not any sense to be made from a kickboxer wearing a skirt. I tried finding a way to make her skirt stay down but it just wasn't right so I threw my hands in the air and gave her some shorts. :|

I think it's possible to wear a short skirt and kick like that, but it'll stretch the skirt out and you're showing off your underwear to everyone, so...
I like the shorts here, nice pose and everything! I admire you for being so creative with your poses. <3 I feel like I'm never courageous enough to try out poses like this. I hope I can get better like you!
