I saw Titanic. When Jack died, I laughed, because my heart is a cold black lump of darkness. :awesome:

I laughed when the girl says I'LL NEVER LET GO then lets go and screams when he sinks into the darkness.

I feel like crying out of sheer happyness because I just discovered I'm not the only female in this world that disliked Titanic. I won't feel alone anymore :awesome:

When the ship was going down and making all those loud noises, metal crunching, I was pretending I was farting.

Titanic was so bad I couldn't even have sex during it. It was distractingly horrible and unintentionally funny.

I've watched The Lion King well over 100 times. Don't judge

You and me both. I have STILL not gotten sick of Lion King.

Anyways uh back on topic, Avatar's visuals were gorgeous but the plot was pretty much just Fern Gully meets Pocahontas.

Blatant rip off of Pocahontas plot is why I liked Avatar. :monster: Pocahontas is one of my fave Disney movies. Don't judge.

Pocahontas is great, don't get me wrong; I loves it, too. But James Cameron is better than sticking to overdone plots. :(

I mean in the past with like Terminator, Abyss, Aliens (even though he got criticized about being a poor excuse for a director after what Ridley Scott gave us).

Oh no, I didn't say I had a problem with the plot. It was a little recycled but I still loved the movie. :awesome:

Articles like these really grind my gears:

I'm fine with people not liking something that the majority of people like (God forbid you're like them), but the whole terming the ones who did as sheep and dumb idiots who just follow the herd is just fucking annoying. If we liked it, it must have been because we are easily impressed and don't really think much about our movies, or simply can't tell good storytelling from mindless Michael Bay action.

AVATAR's box office opening speaks for itself. It wasn't just the hype. Fuck, I wanted nothing to do with this movie and only saw it because we needed something to fill 3 hrs with on a cold night. So to say that it was the awesomest CGI that drew people in and massive hype (not really) is just fucking wrong.

God, I hate pretentious fucks who don't like shit on account that most others do.

Oh, I only say I tend to be "meh" if something is liked by everyone. The word would be "skeptical", but that wouldn't mean I just turn my back on it... unless this something is called Titanic, that is :awesomonster:

I'll just hasten to add that The Matrix was actually based on a genuine sci-fi idea, and not just an old story re-located to a new planet.

Allegory of the Cave, dumbass. Phail review has phailed.

It still was fun though.

Yes it was. That was part of my high school philosophy class! We watched The Matrix, got a hand-out, and had to note the similarities in structure and themes between it and the Allegory of the Cave!

A movie doesn't have to be original to be good. It helps a lot of course, but it can be a good movie even if the story is recycled. See also: AVATAR!

Depends on who watches it, of course. If you watch it and go 'Meh, this is just Pocahontas IN SPACE!', you'll be all negative about it an' shit.

Silly Canadians and your schools letting you watch stuff. I remember there was a huge shitstorm when I was in ninth grade because a teacher was showing Amistad in a history class. That movie is rated R, mind you, and most parents probably didn't even know jack about it, but "Omigawsh my child is watching a rated R movie!!!!" A small vocal group complained, a rule was made that banned all R movies. This included The Matrix, which apparently one teacher did use in his curriculum for years without anyone noticing.

The school did allow one showing before the decision was made. After school, and only if you had a note from a parent. My dad is a huge history buff so the entire situation pissed him off, and he wrote a long letter and attached it to my note. lol

Idiot parents are idiots. I remember being at a friend's house once and we were talking about it in the living room. Her mom stormed in and was all, "Yes! And I'm one of them!" meaning that she was one of the parents who complained. Oh, if only I was braver back then, I should have thrown it back in her face that my dad was furious and she was an idiot.

Dude, I had the best English teacher ever. He played classic tunes during class (blue oyster cult, queen, jefferson airplane, etc) read us sections of the novel he was writing (which was actually pretty damn good), showed us movies like gump, gattaca, etc.

then the district made it illegal to watch real movies in class cause of copyright issues or something, but none of the teachers gave a shit lol

And we also watched Saving Private Ryan and Titanic in JR high for absolutly no reason.

I may not be a expert on Canadian laws but what? Even US laws allow you to show movies in an educative setting!

They'd let us watch movies, but only the specific ones that were slated for educational purposes the district approved of. so those shitty educational videos about lab safety and old shakespeare movies (Tho to be fair, the old '68 version of Romeo and Juliet is fuckin amazing)

Thats just the excuse they gave us. More than likely they just didnt want us watching movies.
