Wot time you getting into London Kev? Did you sort out where you were staying?

Knowing we're getting to meet Lic too has been one of the best updates so far, I'm excited as fuck now. :awesome:

Names: Fangu's name is like the Canton pronunciation of my name, but starting with an 'A' sound rather than 'O' (in Canton it's Oh-nah). People I know who have made mention of Yop either call him Flake (that damned rolled 'r') or 'that Dutch bloke you know'. :monster:

I think at this point I really need to stop procrastinating and start sewing things together. :wacky:

Getting into Gatwick at 5:30 on Friday. Staying at the Lonsdale hotel I think it's called? O_o I can drop my crap off and meet you folks somewhere if peeps are about.

Y'know...after I finish getting lost and stuff.

"To obtain entry, you will need to present a valid ticket with matching photo ID."

You guys think a Norwegian driver's licence will do, or will I have to drag my passport with me?

I don't have a EU ID card, not sure if we have them yet in Norway, so a passport is the only valid form of identification for me. But it's annoying having to carry it around. (Although if the hotel room has no safe, I still might.)

Do I gotta print the tickets or is having them on my phone enough?

I carry my passport most places with me as my form of ID so that's what I'll be using.

Use a passport; the UK is not part of the Shengen countries, so they might be anal. this article says a state-issued photo ID is also valid; idk if driving licenses count though.

I'll be using my drivers licence with my faec on it. It's the only valid ID I have. I'm sure it'll be fine Fangs, and if not we can just pull the 'do you know who I am? do you KNOW who I am? DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?'

Oh, good point. And Norway isn't part of the EU either, although it is part of the EEA, so I can still line up with EU countries at the passport control.

tl;dr it's just a con but probably best to just bring my passport, it'd be annoying having to go back and get it :monster:

Drivers license will be fine I think Fangu, but probs best to bring your passport just incase.

Is the EU referenced anywhere on your driving license btw? UK driving licenses have an EU symbol on them but I know Norway isn't an EU country.

It still is, and will continue to be until the politicians fuck shit up even moar when they "trigger article 50" (at which point they have two years to negotiate the terms of their exit) :monster:

The UK won't officially be leaving the EU until 2019.

Having them on your phone is enough.

You'll be fine. No one will be cracking down too hard on this or anything - it'll be sufficient ID for the event.

Also, and this counts for everyone for that matter, if for whatever reason there's trouble at registration or throughout the day, just ask for me (Alan). Even if I don't recognise all the faces ('cause I'm shocking at faces) I know all the names (and, sure, coupled the names, the faces will suddenly become familiar :)), so you'll all be fine.

EDIT: Jesus, it really is a week away. I'll be in London on Thursday. Wow.

If there's trouble at the registration, I'm sure everyone can pull the "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?" card, :monster:.

We're all internet famous, after all. ish.

I'll just try and do yours with the weird mid-word scandinavian pause where they make everything sound like a question. "An'nne?" or something :monster:
Start practicing :monster:

That being said, this lady has a very Oslo dialect ish heavy accent, so it's not how my mother would say my name - but I'm not even sure you would be able to tell the difference tbh :wacky:

I think I've seen enough Frozen.. :monster:

I'll just be plain old Ami, as I've never really had a unique forum username. :monster:

Less than a week to go until we all meet up, so excited! This time next week, we'll be getting ready to go to the actual event.

As for food, there are lots of places in the area from the train station to the hotel. I've been to the Nando's quite a few times since going down, which we could either eat in or take back to someone's hotel room aka Ami is obvs having a cheeky Nando's no matter when in Landantawn.

I also wouldn't mind trying Ed's Easy Diner either, as they have a gluten free menu (I have to plan my whole life around food obvs xD) and I wouldn't feel left out. :)

So, are there any solid plans as of yet?

If half of us have a free three-course meal in the hotel that's only available on the first night, it'd seem a bit silly to go anywhere else. I'm not getting a free meal myself so I'm not saying that out of self-interest. :P I'm assuming their restaurants are also open to the public. It would be good to see a menu though, make sure it's not ridiculously expensive. Could someone who has the deal give some more details on where it applies, etc.?

Eating there would also make meeting up easy; we'd just have to agree a time.

The reservation email I got says I get Two 3 course meals. I booked a Capital Weekend 2 night package. It doesn't go into further details and I couldn't find anything on the website.

They were doing so well with the names and then it was 'London ... Pub? Meeting place. Coffee place? Ah fuck it that'll do.

"Coffee place" is another simple and straightforward one. Simples.

Also @ ami, I'm going to keep tally of how often you mention your celiac. Advance warning :monster:.

UK has loads of options there though, it's much less of a bread culture than NL. Carveries are the best thing since the full English.

I'm happy with majority rule but I want to get my bit in and say I'd rather avoid Nando's if possible. You pay too much money for what is essentially a bit of chicken and some powder. And piri piri sauce.
