English dialogue.

I never understood the introduction of the Thirteenth Ark in FFXIII-2. There was really no purpose for it; of course, if the story was (existent!) better told, perhaps there would have been a better purpose for a lot of things in that game.

Thank you for the picture uploads, guys! ^_^

At minimum, studying it lead to the reveal that it could float with outside fal'cie power through the use of graviton cores. And then the Serah and Noel went to find graviton cores.

But it was too convenient really, especially since we've only seen one ark before. It makes more sense that if you were able to explore it as originally planned, and then that somehow led to the discovery of the graviton cores. But, well, they spit out XIII-2 too quickly for that.

I always like the seemingly needless attention to detail in design. Then again, I suppose it is more seamless when stuff like that takes place.

The Inn-keeper is the same guy who runs Serendipity. I think they're re-using his model.

Yeah, I've seen him in the early trailers too, he might just be a stand in model as a few of the other workers are there as well.

Maybe it's just me but I always found the Serendipity guy really interesting. He gets like, two lines, but he's got that strange enigma thing going for him. Especially in Sazh's story, I wouldn't mind seeing him again in a sidequest or something. I doubt we'll get it but I can dream.

So a Spanish speaker pointed out a language hint on the gender of the leader from this Spanish screenshot:

dead7_es.jpg

Nuestra from "nuestra lider" (our leader) apparently refers to something/one feminine (nuestro is masculine), and lider is a neutral word that can either be feminine or masculine. From this we've concluded that the bandits' leader is female.

Praying it's Fang tbh (idk how or why, I just wish it's her).

Just to make sure this wasn't typed wrong: You are saying that when Hope et al. studied the Ark, it was found to be able to float via things called 'graviton cores'. To quote you, "... it could float with outside fal'Cie power..." Do you mean as you typed, or did you mean without fal'Cie power. Sorry, I just wish to make sure.

It would be nice if Vanille and Fang were awakened from their own crystal stasis. Still, it would also be kind of anti-climatic, since that's what everyone was pretty much fighting for, at first...

Holy Etros balls, my typos are something horrible, I'm sorry. I'm surprised that some of my shit is even readable.

I meant that the 13th Ark floats WITHOUT continuous fal'cie power, and Hope and co found out it was powered by the graviton cores.

I wish they would stop trying to sexualise Lightning's outfits. She is attractive enough, the skimpy outfits do nothing but undermine the strong female lead they've got going on.

Don't worry. That's why I asked. ^_^

That's what I thought, too.

She has a flat chest compared to Fang and Jihl Nabaat. Regardless of what she wears I will NEVER be more than slightly impressed. :nah:

What is the leader is that Lumina girl?

Also, consider the "nuestra" thing confirmed. The leader is a female. :)

Although in all honesty, it's strange. Usually you would say "nuestro" because you're using the gender-less form. (In fact, nuestro is genderless and nuestra is female-flexed, technically speaking. It's just that, since there is a word for females, it is assumed the other one is for males. Even by Spanish speaking people).

So normally you would say "nuestro líder" and not specify whether that person is male or female. It's used in stories to create surprise at finding out the leader is not a male, since a Spanish user would assume "nuestro" means the leader is a male. Do I make sense? :monster:

It makes sense, yeah. Don't know why the Spanish translators insist on telling the player straight away it's a female when they didn't have to. Strange.

They did get sidetracked quite a bit in that game. :awesome:

Alright, let's go save Lightning!

Wait, scratch that, it's time to save Vanille and Fang!

Wait, we'll tackle their problem later, back to Lightning!

Nope, we need to save the timeline, that's more important. Lightning would want us to do that!

Hope: Screw Lightning! How come nobody wants to save my mom?!

*Serah dies*

Lightning: I'm here to save Serah! Again!

Pretty sure that outfit is the same outfit we've seen before, although I forget what it's called. The one with the Odin tramp stamp.

XIII-2 was a gold mine of unused concept art locations, and I think exploring wtf the arks were would have been awesome. Also not using Eden in Oerba and underwater Lake Bresha is almost criminal because those concepts looked awesome, but oh well.

Not really keen on any of the outfits shown so far, apart from the Shadow's Dust outfit. That one looks kinda cool. And that new outfit from the recent screenshots looks a little cheap, did they really have to show her wearing a miniskirt and thong? IMO, a pair of cyberpunk pants might've made it look better, but that's just me :monster:

I agree on the inclusion of the unused locations. I really would have liked to explore the Thirteenth Ark and the Underwater Lake Bresha, sucks they didn't have enough time to include them in the game. I hope LR gives us the chance to explore at least one of these locations this time.

Which makes me think that, from a narrative standpoint, we may get to know who the leader is pretty early. Or at least, be told straight away it's a female.

Well, looks like my speculation of them releasing a trailer for PAX or GDC was wrong. I think this is for the better though, I want them to work on the next trailer seriously and not have its quality similar to that mess of a trailer we got first. Bring it on, E3.

Anyways yeah, I'm guessing we're going to know this bandits' leader's identity soon, likely in the next trailer. If not blatant, at least hinted on since we apparently know this character already. Also a new outfit reveal please; I love the Shadow's Dust but I have to erase Dark Muse's image from my mind. Maybe that tasteful and elegant dress the previewers saw secretly or something else (on a side note, I don't think they're sexualizing Lightning at all, it's just that certain parts were badly designed (colors clashing, etc.). It's obvious that the Dark Muse and Shadow's Dust were designed to fit with the Dead Dunes. Dark Muse was likely inspired by Ashe's outfit, which was also flamed a lot because it was also ~sexualizing~ and it's not like she lives nearby a freaking desert. They may have taken this old feedback in mind which is why they designed the desert-themed outfit Shadow's Dust as well, with her wearing pants.).

It's all about sex, which I think is ludicrous (though they say it sells!), but to get to the point: What gets me is that skimpy outfits are pretty illogical. If Lightning had to bend down to do something, she'd be flashing her butt off to anyone and everyone who was behind her. That I do not feel is Lightning's character. Being sexy and well groomed, that's one thing, but some of the skimpiness is just blatantly stupid, not to mention totally tasteless (slutty).

Nothing wrong with a sexy female character. But those are some butt ugly designs. At least try to keep some class. idk, I felt XIII and XIII-2 tried to keep a mixture of roughness and elegance. And this is an overdesigned mess and a skirt that is hilariously overtelling.
