Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

Fang's outfit has always been the absolute bomb-diggity though, so I'm not at all bothered by that :D

It is almost as though Lightning has stolen all the clothes so now no one can get changed anymore. I'm not sure why I thought of that. I'm tired.

The official reason for everyone else minus Snow and Light having new duds is

"they ran outta time"

The "strange" aspect of it is that I don't believe slaughtering humans was a "Focus", but rather a "desire".

Just had a thought pop in.

Orphan inherited Barthandelus' desire for Cocoon's destruction when they fused bodies and kept it even after having the Bartness of his body destroyed.

I don't think slaughtering humans were the desire either. It was just the step for what their desire was- be reunited with their maker. It's strange- their focus is the maintenance of the world, but they were created and manipulated to want nothing more than to be with their gods- or fathers- whatever framing it makes it easier to understand.

Cocoon was maintained to be a sacrificial alter- they had to protect humanity so that it could flourish just enough to force the doors of Valhalla, so they were protecting what they needed to kill. The paradox.

Which makes one wonder the truer nature of the fal'Cie. Are they independent lives created from parts of their parents, and yet also part of their parents - that at the end, they would reunite with their parents, in that they would return to the mind that they are actually from? Or are they separate beings created from parts of their parents, so that when all is said and done, they will still be with their parents at the end, but separate lives at the same time? I hope this makes sense, but I'm not sure I know a way right now to make better sense of it.

From what it sounds like, Pulse and Lindzei are like the over-soul in which their respective fal'Cie children will return to. The power, the mind, everything will be absorbed back into Pulse and Lindzei respectively. And then, further more, when done, Pulse and Lindzei will be reabsorbed into Bhunivelze. In Lightning's chapter in Fragments After, she - and hence we - are told that Bhunivelze divided his power to create all three of the fal'Cie. Then, the fal'Cie Pulse and Lindzei did the same to create the 'lesser' fal'Cie. It sounds as if the power that is Pulse and Lindzei has its own mind, but is a part of Bhunivelze, and then the 'lesser' fal'Cie are from the same power, ultimately, but from Pulse or Lindzei respectively.

Unless I am wrong, perhaps like Jenova cells, the parts wish to be reunited and part of the whole again?

Ooo reminds me of Sephiroth and Vayne (the Undying). Exactly the kind of antagonist design I like.

I got a Kefka vibe rather than Sephiroth, but I now see Vayne's Undying.

Actually, Cid's halfciethed form kinda reminded me of Vayne's too.

Ah, all splendid final bosses. I have to say though, on the topic, this still is the most awesome final boss battle in the FF series for me (sequels included), and I guess it's for the music mostly:

I remember finding the track underwhelming when I first heard it. Then I saw the final boss battle for the first time and I was blown away by the entire thing, the fight and the music.

So many people thinks Bhuni is the final boss though.
There was that trophy, yeah, but it never really implied that he would be the final boss. I guess I'm still expecting something more because even before knowing the confirmation that he will be an enemy we'd fight I always thought it would be something or someone else we'll have to fight for the last battle because it was a bit obvious.

As well, the trophy is "Very Rare", so I'm thinking special circumstances or alternate timeline.

Maybe Bhunivelze is not holding Serah's soul in particular, but humanity in whole? Perhaps the glowing sphere not even supposed to represent humanity.

And yes, I see Kefka in Bhunivelze's design. In his face. True, Vayne and Sephiroth would fit too; but, from what I've seen of Kefka, he's more like Kefka in looks (face).

What is the plan of the mythical god, Bhunivelze, the absolute existence who governs the world ...?!

I'm thinking that the person/figure in the sphere of light in Bhunivelze's hand is perhaps Light herself. Who else is his piece on the game board? Just thought of this...

EDIT: And oh my gods, more Labyrinth references (watching figure in sphere)! Okay, so, maybe not totally, but...
