This means it starts right before I have to go to work.
I'm going to miss Voldemort vs Marry Poppins.
I'm more into the Winter Olympics anyway...
I thought it was pretty good up to the point where the Olympic rings came together in the sky. After that it has been totally random - "look at all this stuff we have! Hospitals! With sick children! Some fairy tales! Some sitcoms! Some musicians! Dizzy Rascal!"
I haven't "got" it. In fact I think it's been quite boring.
HEAVENS, THEY DID IT. XD
NBC showing the opening ceremony in 30 minutes.
Nah, he was probably thinking "thank god they're doing that to one of John's songs and not one of mine"... though I didn't think it was too bad, myself. Alex Turner isn't the most accomplished vocalist, but for that song, he didn't really need to be. The rest of the band did a good job.Probably what I hated was the rendition of "Come Together" many of the notes were flat that I think Paul is probably shaking his head somewhere in the stadium.
Most popular sports are completely random and unpredictable in the olympics anyway. Football for example is wholly unremarkable during the olympics, in my experience.
Opening ceremony was alright, not a big fan of artsy bollocks like that, stopped watching and went to sleep once they started bringing in the countries. The NHS-sponsored thing was a bit random, like a giant sponsored thing. Which, I guess, is a british thing - make government services like the NHS look like a business with a brand name and advertising. Like putting "Major of London" under pretty much every public announcement kinda thing. Selfish much?
See this post:I was watching some of it by the beach bar last night and thinking... who are the random people they choose to play for the football teams? IDGI. It's like eurovision, they seem to pick crappy second rate people to represent the country because no one really cares about it. If they actually cared for a half a heartbeat they might win.
They are only allowed to pick three players over the age of 23, and at least 15 under it. That's why. It's because the Olympics are meant to be for amateurs. Barring all professional footballers would mean that hardly anyone would be eligible, so they reached a compromise.I agree on the football thing at least on the men's side, the women take the Olympics a lot more seriously. I think for the men they send their under 21 or under 23 team.
I missed the opening ceremony! and I can't find it anywhere on youtube except "pixelated" versions...
