The water is actually about 24-28 degrees Celsius, which for a pool is actually quite toasty

Isn't diving all about doing impressive flips and shit and then hitting the water with minimal splash? Maybe they just tuck it back really well to cut resistance.

My theory is that they tape it under or something for this very reason. The point is to be an arrow going into the water and to keep the splash as small as possible so yeah this seems likely.

Good I'm not the only one that likes the Spice Girls, don't judge me.
The Closing Ceremony was boring too. The very few highlights included The Who's Baba O'riley, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody followed by John Lennon's Imagine and for me seeing two athletes from my Country with medals was nice.

Since they came on I experienced some ridiculous flashbacks to my pretween years and have been mass-texting all my friends about which their favourite Spice Girl is/was, what their favourite song is/was, and receiving shockingly sincere replies and a couple of hopeful suggestions about maybe watching the god-awful Spice World this weekend.

Wasn't able to post because we had no internet for days, I'm depressed that our BMX athlete finished last place. No medals again. Anyway, I had fun watching the rhythmic gymnastics, I'm sure those Russians are aliens but Austria got my heart. Poor Egypt and Germany in their ribbon routines.

I'd really like to watch the volleyball games, but never managed to catch them because they're played when I'm sleeping (and I don't watch TV).
I think it's bullshit how I can't seem to view any replay footage of the olympics, except on the free to air television channel that has bought the rights in my country (which has finished its coverage with the games over). The Olympics people won't even allow me to view the content on their youtube website, and I failed to find any footage on the Olympics website. They must have a lot of people looking through the internet filing infringement claims.

Things I liked about the Closing ceremony:
The Octopus
Brian May noodling on his guitar and also that he had a fox and a badger on the arms of his jacket (a nod to his saveme.org campaign)
The fact that it had a slightly anti religious vibe (Imagine and Always Look on the Bright Side of Life)
The fact that Eric Idle said 'shit'
Kate Bush music being used
Some of the costumes.
Things I didn't like:
Fatboy Slim - the guy is just not relevant
The Bowie medley - don't get me wrong I like Bowie but I dont like medleys and the way they did that montage made it look like he was dead.
Timothy Spall yelping in a model of big ben.
Spice Girls - I've never liked them
Children singing - I cant stand children singing!
Imagine - yeah I know I said I liked the anti religious stuff but I also think the song is probably one of the most overrated/overused songs of all time.
The fact that many of the singers fucked up their own song (or other peoples songs) by ad libbing or being out of sync. Something that often happens in live music.

The 5 minutes Brasil was on stage was more interesting than the Opening and Closing Ceremony put together. As for the Olympics themselves I enjoyed, they had more than a few memorable performances like Usain Bolt, Misty May/Kerri Walsh and those Chinese divers, oh and NBC can go to hell for not showing the Woman's football gold match on their main network.

I couldn't agree with you more. I used to just dislike Imagine, but I've been forced to it listen to it so often that now I hate it. It's such cheesy, idealistic claptrap. I hate the piano music, I hate the stupid lyrics, I hate the veneration people have for it, and I can't believe John Lennon wrote it.
