SPOILERS LTD Remake — It's like New Coke except ... no, it's exactly like New Coke

His memory is probably blocking it out. We also see him mouth the “eyes are burning, mouth is dry” speech but it almost seems like Jenova is blocking it out to make him believe he’s a puppet with no emotions,
Right.. I had removed the Jenova variable.. sorry my error >.<

Remember Sephiroth WANTS him to believe he’s a puppet with no emotions. That’s why his trial has Jessie’s death in it which Sephiroth highlights that he didn’t cry.
And when Cloud himself believes he is a puppet then there will be the moment of greatest emotional detachment even with Tifa. And from here what MUST happen will happen

Yeah, I’d imagine all of this will culminate in Cloud completely losing himself at the Northern Cave.

Just saw this on reddit an honestly....I just got so tired as I looked at it.
Really, just regardless of how everything goes down in part 3, I HATE this so so much.
Like, even in a best case scenario where essentially nothing changes and the multiple timelines have barely any effect on the story in part 3 I just think this is all such terribly atrocious writing that I just find myself questioning why I even care anymore. I'm not a fan of this, whatever "this" is.
I'm a fan of FFVII and this entire thing just feels like an insult to it.

...
I don't know man, I just wanted to experience Cloud and Tifas story again, and the story of FFVII, I don't even know what I'm trying to say here other than I am sooooo tired. I just want to see the lifestream sequence and the highwind scene and just get it over with and never think about FFVII again.

Thumbnail please ^^' Also I'm not reading that when my own theory is explained in like 10 lines lol.

I’m not fond of the ending myself, but I did like the rest of the game. Same with Remake.

However, I definitely think some people are overthinking it and charts like that prove as much. (I’m not reading the chart because I know it will confuse me far more than the actual ending does)

My theory is that Aerith is dead, these “timelines” are just extensions of the Lifestream having memories of past, present, and future so alternatives would be accounted for because LS doesn’t follow laws of reality. And that’s kinda it… I guess.

To be honest I really don't know how they're going to fit everything that's left from OG (and things they wildly seems to have expanded on line Wutai) and finish up whatever they're trying to do with the timelines in a satisfying way in just one game.

I think it’s doable. Game is probably gonna have a longer main story though. Might have less side content. (Which I think is good since Rebirth has way too much imo)

They’re apparently done with the first draft of their script IIRC.

I don't even particuarly care to theorize about what the ending of Rebirth means, because post-Remake, everyone was going wild with their theorycrafting (special shout-out to the geniuses who predicted the devs would kill off Tifa instead of Aerith this time, in a groundbreaking twist that's totally not misogynistic at all!), but then Rebirth pretty much just followed the OG beat for beat (with some significant expansions/additions, just like in Remake). I've always cared more about the characters than the lore, so I'm happy to wait to see how it all plays out in 3-4 years.

Ultimately, whatever it means will just enhance/expand our understanding of events that happened in the OG, without contradicting it in any significant way, so all the major plot beats from the OG will still take place. The ending makes it clear that we're still obviously heading towards the Northern Crater early in Part 3, so I don't see why the rest of the events from disk 2/3 wouldn't just play out roughly the same way as in the OG a la Remake/Rebirth.

Does anyone think the Tifa in the "Purgatory world" is still alive

I am really curious about this tbh

YES, I remember that was a frequent theory I saw back then. Aerith lives and Tifa dies instead.

Would have made no sense.

And yeah, my biggest reason to play these is the characters. So on that subject, the games are meeting my expectations.

The endings for both are still… not great for me but I like enough of the rest of it to still like the game overall.

its just that I dislike the way they remake trilogy has continually done the same thing in both games of decent 4/5 of a game before having clusterfuck endings where they deliberately put in shit to mislead and force discourse instead of having a well thought out ending

I'm terrified that the last game will end in a similar manner

I think they may try to consolidate Rocket Town into one visit. While I can see how this might worry some people, I think it could still work depending on how they do it.

Same for some other places. Fort Condor is a board game so I expect going to the actual location will have different things play out. Corel would just be the same minigame as Barret and Yuffie did, except trying to stop a train this time.

Yeah I'm just replaying Rebirth in hard with no side content, and this where you realize how so little main content there actually is.

So I'm at a part with Zack and I have to say the devs characterized him amazing in this game. He is ridiculously charming and sweet. Sometimes I have to wonder if they're trying to make him so likeable that no one would be mad if Aerith ends up with him. I wasn't sure before but now I'm pretty certain they're gonna lean into ZA in the next part. Probably to explain why he is hanging around in AC but also to resolve their romantic arc.

I am kinda ok with rocket town being one visit, at the very least I am ok with the idea of rocket town happening before the return of Cloud.

This reminds me of a take that I hear a lot, one that basically comes down to:
"I am not that bothered by all the weird extra stuff going on, as long as the core story is still there"
And to me this just rings hollow. Like, I can imagine watching lord of the rings, and in the background in the skies above the mountains having x-wings and star destroyers and the death star. And I can imagine someone going "well, that's just happening in space, the story here in middle-earth is essentially still the same". But I can't imagine taking that argument seriously. Imo it's simply a fact that adding in a bunch of weird nonsense can ruin a story, even if that same story is still there underneath it.

To be fair, I think you can’t get past it but other people’s mileage with it varies. And that’s completely fine and I can certainly respect that.

I don’t think it rings hollow for me simply because core beats being retained is actually less about the plot itself and more about seeing the characters do character things that we’ve seen them do before but enhanced (which is one place I think this reimagining does incredibly well).

To be clear, I don’t mean to attack your perspective though. I think it’s equally as valid and I can certainly understand where you are coming from. Especially because I don’t like the weird stuff they are doing either. Or rather… I just find them pointless.

about to say Remake Theories none came true at all Unknown Journey yet still was the same mostly as OG and ends in the same place as OG forgotten capital. This trilogy is just a remake that adds scenes improves character moments and has a bunch of crazy stuff to keep people interested for the next installment. Whether it ends up having a different ending i think its clear the fates of characters will stay the same yet relationships are more clear and all the compilation stuff will tie into the story in a satisfying way by the end and maybe leave the state of the world open to having more stories with different characters afterwards.

i think if they do show that world again, theres a reason they didn't confirm dead or alive. possibly she might be needed to wake up that Cloud
or part of Cloud?

I think its very telling they make you pity and want to root for Zack. Makes the Reunion matter to people who haven't played crisis core or never liked Zack its almost impossible not to like him in this game
