They didn't use the monkey thing as canon proof. They just thought it was an allusion to CxA... just how I randomly thought the relationship between Squall, Cloud, and Tidus in Dissidia is somehow an allusion to Weiss and Genesis' next canon appearance.

It is pure nonsense.

Cloud as "Winter" is pretty accurate for me, but I think Aerith is more of a "Spring". Tifa is more "Autumn" and Zack is the "Summer"...
