Yep, fact. The game never says who Cloud loves. The burden's on you to say where it does. Several times, my ass. Prove it.
WTF do you think the lifestream sequence was about? Cloud and Tifa realizing they both like pie?

You have provided no proof whatsoever that Cloud could love both girls so I'm calling troll. Until you provided some evidence I won't reply to you because obvious troll is fricken obvious.

Ok... you say you're not going to reply, then you reply. I'm confuzzled.

I'm really having a hard time believing y'all don't like me stirring the pot, seeing as you keep talking to me.

First off, Hi Null.

Second off, fuck your new criticism bullshit.

Third off, even if 'commentary' cannot alter the contents of the canon, it is still entirely capable of COMMENTING on it, on elucidating things which were not already clear.
Even were it not clear in the canon that Cloud has made his choice, it's entirely possible for creator notes to shed light on such.
Much the same way that the Balrog not making ANY noise, in fact, being entirely and unnaturally quiet, was not spoken of positively or negatively in Fellowship, but revealed in later correspondence.

In any case, the statement 'a work stands on its own merit' does not mean that creator commentary is irrelevant to the story that is told. It means that what a creator was trying to do and what they did do are two entirely different things. It doesn't mean ALL creator comments are irrelevant, it means you can't go 'But SMeyer was trying to portray true love, so she DID!', though you still can go 'J.K. Rowling said X character is gay and there are this many wizards in Britian'

And this, kiddies, is why Love Triangle Debates are full of circular logic, debates and arguments, over and over again. That, along with my shifted perspectives, is why I've simply not the spirit for them anymore.

I don't know or care who this guy is, can we forget him and go back to trolling each other and posting PG13 fanart?

Incidentally, Drake, Null is engaging in the trolling each other tradition. Not so much the fanart, though.

Hence my displeasure at his behavior. Porn or GTFO.

Why? I was perfectly respectful. I just replied in kind to FHS. Singling me out is pretty hypocritical.

I won't lie, I love confrontation, but I'm not trolling.

Also, I don't porn for men, yo.

Hey man. Uh, again. :)

Benefit of doubt, assuming this is addressed below.

There's no difference between elucidating and altering the story. To shed light is to change what is being observed.

There was no mass consensus that Dumbledore was gay before JK decided he was ex post facto. There is no evidence of him desiring men in the literature. If she wanted him to be gay, she had plenty of opportunity to implement his homosexuality. Instead she pulled the rug out from the perception of the audience. The validity of her actions depends entirely on the will of the audience to be dictated to, after forming their own conception of the work.

If you need an author to constantly comment on something, either it was told badly or left intentionally vague. That is why new criticism is not bullshit.

Still didn't answer my question.

Ignoring it won't make it go away.

No no, see, earthquakes > tornadoes.

Now answer Quex's question. Whatever it was.

earthquakes > tornadoes > Baltimore. Maryland could suck the chrome off a trailer hitch.

I already offered proof that I could see how Cloud could love either one. Buried somewhere in my square dance / two step / ho down with FHS. I don't think the peeps read my statements carefully enough.

**starts slow clap**

You are special, oh, great puppet master :joy: anyway, onto response (of sorts)

I don't think you even remember what I wrote in the first place. Get it together. :loopy:

Nope, you're right. I don't remember what you wrote. It must have been brilliant for it to slip my mind so easily though. Good on you for making an impact argument.
Yep, fact. The game never says who Cloud loves. The burden's on you to say where it does. Several times, my ass. Prove it.

I only actually need to prove it once. And I did, when I pointed out that CLOUD tells TIFA that his feelings for her have not changed. Read: Loved you before, love you still. This too linear for you? If so, that's okay. I can wait while you chase your tail in circles. **waits**
But if you're not up to real debate, don't feel like typing, realize you said something incredibly fucking dumb and you're in way over your head, it's ok. I know you just can't resist responding, even if you have NOTHING but weak smack. It's not your fault I basically have this conversation and, in fact, you yourself, under my complete control. _I_ am doing the chewing here. You're just my tennis ball, my rubber toy here to amuse me while I wait for the Spurs/Mavericks game to start, which kinda drags here on the east coast. Dance, my puppet, dance!

Awww, that's a cute little Sephiroth complex you got going on there. You probably don't mean to sound like you're overcompensating, but I gotta tell you, you really do (just a heads up on that).

But by all means, I'll play... Chew away. I am nothing but a toy for your amusement, surely. Gnaw, gnaw on hide oh, great puppet master. I'll be sure and carry the teeth marks of your internet tutelage long into my old age...or for the 15 seconds I can recall the banality of your comments. Either way, I shall dance merrily in this forum for my own amusement as much as yours. ;)

No, I'm a grownup. I don't keep those silly things around, what grownup needs to read books about books.

Sorry, I have a hard time taking any adult that calls them-self a 'grownup' seriously.

So love stories can't have love?

que?

*snore*
More claims, lying about backing them, yeah back to ... *zzzzzz*
You cared enough to respond. Control, puppet, etc. Already covered that.

Sure, yeah. I cared enough to respond. You made a dickhead statement regarding creator commentary not mattering to the work. Given my field of study and profession, fuck yes, I responded to that. **eyeroll**

Hello, Google/Wikipedia/dictionary/education. Look up straw man. You don't seem to get what it is.

Sure. I'll get right on that. /sarcasm.
Doesn't running in a circle get old?

Dunno. You tell me.

It's called lazy + hiding behind other posters as your champions. I'm not wading through all that crap (unless I was part of the conversation, then I find it engaging)

Speaking of lazy...

Sure. He reached for her hand and smiled. Romance!

When? Because I don't recall this. Please enlighten me.
Look, Larry Bird - er, FFG is not walking through that door. I'm the best you're gonna get in this forum, sweetheart. And you jumped on my posts pretty quick, so don't lie and say y'all aren't DYING for someone to lock horns with. :)

FFG is never coming here, yeah, we know. So, a pinker troll will work. As for dying to lock horns...uh, sure. It's Sunday and the kids are playing Little Big Planet and I actually have more than 5 minutes to visit the forum., Yeah, I like a good 'horn locking'. I'd prefer a debate, but it seems you're not up to that. No worries. It's often the case when a man realizes I have bigger literary balls than they do. :D

I'll be around if you want to bait me some more. It's kind of fun dancing on your puppet strings. You are so, so clever and your evidence and arguments are near insurmountable... **is in way over her head** Oh, dear, oh, dear...

I asked you what the Lifestream sequence was about.
