I'd never seen his channel before, and I'm not big on the "get this to X likes to get the next one" type model for YouTubers. Couldn't pass up checking out & sharing the content though.

It's looking like Jax's style comes from WWE, and Jackie's comes from MMA.

That "oh shit!" he does? He does it to practically everything, with the same inflection and everything. It could be a soundboard. In an average video you'll hear it like 15 times in 5 min. Plus he comes off as an idiot to me.

Spoiler: Based on the leaked information...

--- They're both dead, but they're sort of in it. (They're assumedly defeated by Sub-Zero, though I'll be able to say for sure when I play it if that's addressed in more detail). Cyrax bombs ARE a stage effect that you can enable on Test Your Luck and other similar gameplay types (as are Kabal's blades).
--- Cyber Sub-Zero doesn't seem like it was retconned. It seems like it has to do with how the Revenants are formed by Quan Chi, and I haven't heard much about that yet aside from seeing how Kuai Liang (and some others) are brought back.

Spoiler: Things that I can say for certain:

--- Sektor is dead and in pieces. His digitally stored memories of Quan Chi's manipulation and betrayal leading to Scorpion killing Bi-Han are able to be displayed and are why Kuai Liang & Hanzo Hazashi aren't attempting to kill each other anymore.
--- Smoke is fully overtaken by Enenra and is a Revenant servant of Quan Chi.
--- Kabal is also a Revenant Servant of Quan Chi (as is everyone else that Sindel killed).
--- There's no information about Predator yet because -- like Jason, Tanya, & Tremor -- All of the DLC Characters are all still in development and haven't been completed into playable characters yet. Tonya is an opponent in the game -- as are many other non-playable characters.

Well, Quan Chi did have all of their souls taken into his possession and had created them as revenants during MK9, sooo... I'm not seeing how any of that comes as a surprise that they're all still in that state during MKX.

Spoiler: MXK story-specific spoilers

Raiden, Sonya, & Johnny Cage launch an attack against the Brotherhood of Shadow. During the attack, Quan Chi stabs Johnny Cage in the back and attempts to turn him into a Revenant while Scorpion, Sub-Zero, & Jax back him up. Sonya & Raiden interrupt the process to bring back Johnny's soul before it's trapped and by interrupting it at that point manage to break Quan Chi's control over his revenants in the immediate vicinity which is why Jackson Briggs, Kuai Liang, & Hanzo Hazashi are all resurrected and taken out from under his control, but the remainder of the revenants are not.

I've only seen gif'd parts of this bit of the story, so the specifics and dialogue for how it occurs aren't there, but still -- that's basically how it goes down.

Seemingly Non-canon Endings

Shinnok - (As the big bad, he obviously doesn't win/survive, so this is pretty much just a "What If?" type ending, but it seems to introduce mythology for the next arc with the One Being).

Goro - (Seems to conflict with the rest of the Outworld endings, although it explicitly refers to Osh'tekk, Kytinn, Tarkatans, & Edenians not taking the throne, which doesn't necessarily prevent Raiden's rule. Also, his presence among the living at all may have been ended with the comics, since there's a huge battle and he's missing all of his arms right now).

So, it looks like (almost) all of the arcade endings are there to construct the new canon for the post-MKX events, so I put them in the recommended viewing order in my earlier post, which is: Reptile, Erron Black, Jax, Sonya, Johnny Cage, Kano, Takeda, Kenshi, Sub-Zero, Kung Jin, Kung Lao, Liu Kang, Kitana, Mileena, Jackie, Scorpion, Raiden, Kotal Kahn, Quan Chi, Ermac, Cassie, Ferra/Torr, & D'Vorah. (This is leaving out Goro & Shinnok - who both show in the same place on the roster, and seem to have the non-canon endings).

Here, I'm gonna break down the rough chronological order of what looks to be happening after the end of the game, and setting up for the next one now that I've got videos up for everything.

Mileena's death resulted in her soul going back to the flesh pits where she was created, and there're a ton more of her clones, all of whom get awakened - likely by the machinations of Shang Tsung. They start to form together into a new force in Outworld.

As Johnny recovers from his injuries, Jax takes over the command of the Kombat Kids.

Raiden ties Scorpion's life to the Jinsei and the Shirai Ryu are Earthrealm's protectors.

Reptile does recon in Earthrealm for Kotal Kahn, and discovers Raptors living there that never left for Zaterra, so he abandons Outworld to remain with his people and attempt to take over Earthrealm for them.

*Jackie obtains the glowing skull from Kotal Kahn and takes it to Earthrealm.

Erron Black (who originally had his life extended by Shang Tsung) hunts the Kombat Kids down to kill them for Kotal Kahn. (He would've assassinated them all... but fate had a different twist).

Sonya had a dream that Kano held a gun to Jax & Cassie's head and made her choose which of them lives -- She chose Cassie. Because of this, Erron Black shot and killed Jax - who managed to protect the Kombat Kids. He knocked Erron out before bleeding out. Johnny - now recovered - found Sonya and told her of Jax's death.

*With Raiden's assistance, Johnny then travelled to Outworld to Shang Tsung's abandoned Island - where he found Shang Tsung's research on the Edenian's physiology (that allowed Erron Black to live for so long) and managed to extend his own life to take up the position of the leader of the Kombat Kids again.

Kano tortures and trains his own son as his replacement.

Kenshi & Takeda infiltrate the Red Dragons and find a dragon who leads them to find & free Taven (Dagon's brother). Dagon is the founder/head of the Red Dragon clan who killed Taven's parents and Kenshi's wife/Takeda's mother. The three of them raid the Red Dragon HQ, and Kenshi kills Dagon.

Kung Jin rescues Kung Lao from the Netherrealm, and they continue to resist his possession and fight against the demons of the Netherrealm.

Liu Kang slowly overtakes the Netherrealm, beating the demons into submission until he & Kitana are its emperor & empress.

Sub-Zero raises dragons for the Lin Kuei and acts as the defenders of Earthrealm.

D'Vorah escaped SF confinement with Shinnok, cocooned him and spawned new offspring from his body by allowing them to feed on his power, and destroying his body, but not killing him. She escapes and grows her Kytinn brood.

Raiden (seemingly growing corrupted) takes Shinnok's decapitated, but still living head into the Netherrealm to deliver his threat to the Netherrealm's rulers - Liu Kang & Kitana.

Kitana's hatred of Raiden for altering the timeline grows, and she despises being a revenant in the Netherrealm.

Raiden - no longer content with defense, launches his assault against Outworld as Kotal Kahn is still rebuilding his forces, and takes dominion over Outworld by defeating him. Kotal Kahn seeks help from the Elder Gods against this injustice, and they respond by reinstating the Mortal Kombat tournament every decade.

Ermac is lured away and consumed by Shang Tsung, allowing him to fully return (and likely putting him in a position to work with the Mileena he created).

Raiden sends Cassie to kill Shujinko (not Shang Tsung like she assumes).

The Elder Gods possess Quan Chi and send him to destroy Raiden for upsetting the balances of power.

Ferra undergoes her metamorphosis into a brute over three years.


The *'d ones might take place after Raiden's assault on Outworld, but are still likely before Shang Tsung's revival by destroying Ermac.

I'm actually seriously impressed with the amount of effort Netherrealm put into story mode. Like, effort with the presentation and transitions from story to fights, effort with cutscenes that aren't just recycled parts of stages and effort with dialogue and plot progression.

Mortal Kombat 9 left a goddamn terrible impression on me and my friends when we were putzing through the story mode for kicks. Fighting transitions would happen through mere excuses. Two ninjas would have a disagreement during the tournament and Shang Tsung would literally show up out of nowhere and go "A CHARRENGE! FIGHT NAO".

First thing me and my buddies did watching these MKX story mode videos was that we saw snappy dialogue and actual fight choreography, and we were basically like, "what. They put effort in. Look at all this effort going on in this game." It shows an absurd amount of maturity in a series I've never, ever considered mature (somewhat ironically). Certainly going to pay attention to the story mode this time.
