I understand now, Kaguya's descendant conveniently arrives to settle matters by bringing down the moon aka Kaguya which means death. Naruto and friends journey to the moon to stop this filler villain and bring home the bacon and finally either tying the knot with Hinata or beginning that romance I always hoped it would be.


Also a wedding in Konoha which I had always wanted to see cos Kishi failed to depict it with Harashima and his red head babe as well as Minato with Kushina. He's definitely saving an epic wedding for this.

I still have a doubt she and Sasuke will reconcile but I really don't like Sakura due to the impression she had given us in Part 1.

Well, to be fair, there's WAY MORE than enough background for Toneri to not be a "filler villain." Hagoromo did openly state that he had a brother named Hamura who initially helped him to seal the Jubi. We know that they were the first two humans born with chakra, and that while Hagoromo possessed the attributes of Kaguya that eventually split into the Uchiha & Senju bloodlines, Hamura possessed the Byakugan. Aside from that, there's almost nothing else that's stated about him in the manga. (Although this DOES go back to give some specifics to what Kakashi mentioned in the Chunin exams about the Sharingan being rumored to have descended from the Byakugan).

Given that the Hyuuga clan are ridiculously strict about their kekkei genkai getting into anyone else's possession as well as controlling their lineage with the main and branch houses, it's highly probable that they're descended almost if not completely directly from Hamura. On top of that, they're openly stated to be the strongest clan in Konoha (even with the Senju & Uchiha taking the spotlight).

It's a pretty big open end of questions that was set up at the time that's going to remain unanswered from the main manga, and I have been curious since he was introduced in Chapter 670 what his purpose in the grand scheme of things was (especially with Kaguya possessing the Byakugan).


Since Kishimoto is actually directing the story & other things for this film, and - unlike the other movies (aside from Road to Ninja's alternate reality) - it connects directly to the canon of the manga, it's highly probable that it's going to fill in the gaps about that side of the story with Toneri's backstory and will explain what makes the Hyuga as badass as they are -- especially since that element was introduced just 30 chapters before the manga concludes.

Really, without all that, the Hyuga's connection to everything has been standing as a pretty significant gap in the complete story of Kaguya's descendants, and it makes sense that if the film was always a part of the plan (which it was since it's been in development for quite some time), Hamura acting as the connecting point that ties everything together is a part of that as well. Obviously with both him & Hagoromo being long deceased, we're left with a descendant of some kind - Toneri. No idea how he'd come about now but that's really the meat of the story that's worth digging into for the conflict end of the story.


Everything else is centered around our main Hyuga character & Naruto, since it's been stated to be a romantic story, and you wrap that all together, and I'd say that it makes itself into a fairly solid extension of the main storyline of Naruto played out two years into the future from wherever we're about to leave thing off in a little less than a week.

• Hatake Kakashi: The man who used to be called Kakashi of the Sharingan. He may have lost this power now, but he was trusted with the protection of the village anyway.

• Yamanaka Ino: Sakura’s rival who kept up with her with a lot of hard work. Can use a jutsu to confuse the mind of others.

• Akimichi Chouji: (pending)

• Rock Lee: (pending)

"His pride in 'food' and his body weight have both increased with his growth. He likes the word, 'Chubby-ish'*"

(*This is the word that Chouji always responds with when someone calls him fat "Debu" he says, "I'm pocchari-kei!!" which is a positive chubby term in Japanese).


• Otsutsuki Toneri

Regarding that
I think doing that is more of a nod to Akira Toriyama (because of all the Saiyan having vegetable names, and him being a huge inspiration to Kishimoto) more than anything else. That being said, I have no idea what they're gonna run with in terms of English adaptations for names for Sarada/Salad, Boruto/Bolt, or Himawari/Sunflower.

If I was a gamblin' man, I'd probably guess that it'd end up like Sara, Bolt, & Himawari in English adaptations.

Artistically speaking, it's really neat that the very first page of the manga is like the very last page of the manga. It kinda feels like the first and last pages are the start and end of the story of Naruto as it's remembered generations later, while the manga is the story of what actually happened.

Just... I can't believe its finally over...

It's a really good read for a solid translation. They'll probably have 700 out relatively soon. Worth reading to get a better feeling from the MP translation.

Just all in all, that was everything I was hoping. I'm a tiny bit sad we didn't have any indication about what ended up happening to the Taka folk (mostly Suigetsu's quest for the 7 swords 'cause I wanted to see him all grown up). I'm wondering if he could be the Mizukage's bodyguard, since he isn't shown, and Choujuro doesn't appear to have his sword.

I suppose there's a tiny possibility they might end up in the movie, since Bolt & Himawari were originally leaked from images there, as was wheelchair Gai. I am curious why the kids don't seem to have the Byakugan and if that'll be mentioned.


Also, since D&D's post was initially spoiler-tagged (which I'll remove when I post this), Kishimoto's apparently gonna do a short mini series about the kids, which I look forward to.
