Can I also touch on the fact that almost this ENTIRE CHAPTER was seen from Sasuke's point of view? Like, we get his internal monologue rather than Naruto's for everything aside from the Kurama chakra moment. Seeing the other side of the battle from his point of view makes it feel a lot less like Naruto's just going to overpower Sasuke.

Also, we get Naruto punching Sasuke in the head & Sasuke hitting Naruto in the chest - which is the same place they hit each other in the original Battle of the End. Not to mention the Naruto Rendan move to kick Sasuke into the air. Also, Naruto tripping is just like the First Hokage.

When a battle between the two most powerful shinobi is reduced to exhausted taijutsu, you know you're doing it right.

They revealed sketches of a new character, who apparently kidnaps Hanabi -- so Naruto, Hinata, Sakura, Sai & Shikamaru have to go rescue her ( in addition to the whole crashing moon thing). Personally, I'm 99% sure that this means that the movie is gonna round out the last unanswered part about Kaguya's other son who had the Byakugan.

I don't think anyone's suggesting that the character IS Hamura, since he's as long gone as Hagoromo. I have ta say that their lineage's connection to him seems likely -- Hyuga is Konoha's strongest clan and rigidly strict about their bloodline and lineage, plus it's the one big hook left unexplained piece of Kaguya's children and it involving the moon and kidnappings Hanabi (the main branch's head, since she passed up Hinata), it seems heavily likely.

People who see The Last: Naruto the Movie in theaters are getting a limited edition official movie book, Naruto Hiden Retsu no Sho, which is a spin-off to the Naruto: The Official Character Data Book series & contains an exclusive manga drawn for the movie, so keep an eye out for that to show up online.

Also a new trailer for the The Last: Naruto the Movie is gonna be shown in Japanese theaters this Saturday (hopefully online soon after). And last, but NOT least -- a book version of the movie is scheduled for release on December 8th, two days after the movie’s theatrical debut, so even without an international release, we'll still get to check out the story.

Taking into account that the original work (manga) and the new film are connected as much as possible, I would appreciate it if you are going to see the movie after you finish reading the manga. The quick tumblr translations were correct. Saiyanisland condensed them as follows:

A new scan for the movie shares new details. The Last: Naruto the Movie takes place during a Winter Festival in the Hidden Leaf Village. Ever since she was little, Hinata wanted to give Naruto a scarf as a personal gift from her to him. However, a mysterious man has appears, with the intent to kidnap Hinata. He fails on doing so and instead captures the wrong person instead – Hinata’s sister, Hanabi!

The scan also mentions the mystery man’s true identity is Toneri Otsutsuki, a descendant of Kaguya Otsutsuki, the progenitor of chakra who once took on Naruto and Sasuke in a battle of life and death. He appears with a team of puppets to in front of Naruto and friends and dominates them with overwhelming power. He then captures Hinata as a battle to protect Earth from the crashing meteorites is reaching its limits. As with all scans, we’re left with a tease! The scan mentions a “True End Plan” is in works, but what does it entail!? And what is the sorrowful destiny between the Otsutsuki clan and Hinata’s Hyuuga clan!? As the last day of Earth nears, everyone’s feelings will crash across time!

Well... being that the tagline for the film is, “The Final Story, The First Love” and Kishimoto explicitly said that's it's about romance, I'd be surprised if they DIDN'T have an official pairing by the end of it all.

"恋愛" is the word used in Kishimoto's message, which is specific to the story being about romantic love. A loose retranslation of that sentence is, "This film is, to be blunt, about romantic love." That's the great thing about Japanese being a very specific language for some things. I can get a better translation of his whole message now that more of the internet has had a crack at it if anyone's interested.

I dunno, the last time I so ardently shipped something in a shounen series, I was terribly, terribly, let down. <_<;;*coughsYGO5DScoughs* The NaruHna shipper in me wants to so believe that it will happen, but that really skeptical part of me thinks that it's Toneri who falls in love with Hinata, hence the attempted kidnapping. :monster:

I see Kakashi's face carved in the Hokage Monument. ...I wonder if they carved his face without his mask on. :awesome:

Well...

Aside from it explicitly being a story about romantic love, there're all the flashbacks to Naruto & Hinata as kids, the element about her wanting to give him a scarf for the winter festival back then and attempting to do it now (which he's shown wearing in the art), the heavy emphasis on the two of them in the trailer, along with the quote from Naruto, "Remember, about that time. There&#8217;s something I have to tell you, no matter what. Please wait for me." makes me pretty certain the the story is designed towards Naruto & Hinata. Plus, the two of them are the only characters featured on the cover for the soundtrack. I'd say that speculation that the movie DOESN'T follow that relationship is pretty sketchy at best.

Also, as for Toneri being the love interest? Everything about Toneri's dialogue in the trailer is centered around the same general conflict that Kaguya was pursuing - not to mention that if he's a descendant of Hamura Otsutsuki like everything seems to suggest, he & Hinata would be related. Plus, Hinata's one piece of dialogue to Toneri is, "You won&#8217;t be allowed to end this world!"


Sooo... I'm not saying it's 100% but.... :awesomonster:

Hahaha. Ino/Sai was something that was hinted at in the Ultimate Ninja Storm series for the exact reason that he's "Sasuke Lite" actually (since Sakura & Ino used to fight over all that way back when).
