Oh definitely. I would love for different skins and gear. Like how Dissidia 012 had the Amano design skins for Cloud and Tifa. I also would love to see Costa Del Sol outfits and winter gear for the Northern continent. And maybe they’ll get to keep their Cargo Ship disguises as skins. I could also see them getting “Wutai themed” outfits as an excuse for the developers to give the party Japanese/East Asian inspired outfits. And maybe they will even have the Wall Market outfits as skins.

I'm coming at this from the perspective of a person who grew up on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. As far as I'm concerned Tifa can sit at a dressing room table for 3 hours baking on layers of make-up and then kill 40 monsters without breaking a sweat. Because she's a superhero in a fantasy game. The prettier while doing so the better, because it subverts the trope.

Sure. But I chose Waterson because she is a former model. Literally the kind of person who curls her eyelashes. Also a tough as hell fighter.

Yes but she's also Strawweight. Real street fighting doesn't have weight divisions.

What would happen if she fought Cris Cyborg? She'd be dead in a few minutes. Worth pointing out that she also looked very different when she was a model. She's must have nearly double her body mass to become a fighter.

Yeah she has Elemental twinned with Lightning materia on her gloves, because cyborgs are normally weak to lightning.

I would like to see a scar or something from Sephiroth's Nibelheim strike. But beyond that bit of detail, it's really just not that important to me if she's video game gorgeous.

Wow, thank you for mentioning that! That’s a detail I totally forgot about because she actually has no scar in the OG...or any of the compilation or Dissidia games. Seems like this has been a developmental oversight for the past three decades. Sephiroth then didn’t just scratch her, he sent her flying. Seems like the kind of wound you couldn’t fix with basic scar cream. Maybe we should mention it to the development team just Incase they forgot to add it. Haha.

Also, I have no idea why we are talking about Tifa curling her eyelashes lmao. But FWIW, I always envisioned Tifa as the kind of girl who would do that. From what we see of Tifa’s childhood in the OG, she was quite popular and trendy. Aerith, I’d say, is our resident “tomboy” in this game in terms of personality.

Plus, you know, it's been in her design since day 1 to be attractive.

Yeah, I always think of it from when Cloud describes her as being hurt really bad. He thinks she's "a goner."

My entire rationale for preferring her to be a bit rougher is precisely that she's not a superhero like Buffy is. Within the lore of the game world, she's supposed to be a normal person who just happens to have good fighting skills.

But she's also a normal person who makes her living in a profession where looking super attractive is beneficial.

So ...

She should be attractive, I wasn't arguing against that.
She just shouldn't be "pretty".

Granted maybe everyone means something slightly different by "pretty". But I would say as an example, someone like Lulu in FFX is attractive but not pretty. Obviously if you disagree with that characterization then we're just disagreeing about semantics.

tifa is gonna look like the best because tifa is the best and i trust the developers to deliver.

i really think it's gonna be fine. as force said, we'll likely get renders pretty close to to ac and dissidia. idk. i for one will be too over the moon seeing tifa in a trailer at all to be fixating on whether or not she's got lipgloss on come june.

Lol, I can't be the only one who thinks there are multiple types of attractiveness.

"Beautiful" and "pretty" are surely used to mean different things. At least that's how I'd always used them.

The witch in Return To Oz said it. It must be true:

Well, sure. I'm just not sure how it relates to Tifa?

I'll bite, though, and rephrase my previous comment: "But she's also a normal person who makes her living in a profession where looking super pretty is beneficial.

It related to Tifa because I was suggesting the Advent Children design is less "pretty" than the Dissidia one but I think it's better suited to the character because she looks buffer and more physically capable.

I would say both designs are "attractive", but the Advent Children one is less "pretty" because I tend to use that word for a kind of petite feminine quality (which maybe is just how I use it and other people use it differently, I don't know).

Are we really arguing whether or not making a character pretty is unrealistic when the game takes place in a fantasy world where people can equip magical little orbs to set everything on fire, wield weapons that physically impossible to wield, powerbomb a kaijuu with their bare hands, summon magical creatures to fight said kaijuu, jump 50 feet in the air and do triple backflips with no problems, have naturally impossibly cool hair, etc, etc?

Cloud's also supposed to have a big old stab scar in his chest from when Sephiroth stabbed him in Nibelheim, but then again, we never see him shirtless, so hmmm.

Perhaps Tifa's scar is hidden by her shirt like Cloud's is, so who knows?

.....SO I GUESS WE NEED BEACH DLC OUTFITS IN FFVII TO CONFIRM SCARS ON TIFA AND CLOUD WOOO

Tifa has to be as beautiful as Aerith, otherwise there is no justice in the world.

I was complaining a while back about how their faces didn't look exactly realistic and was properly schooled in the fantastical nature of this game. Tifa should be an absolutely fucking stunner of a natural beauty who has naturally curly eyelashes. She should not look like some kind of thicc street brawler just because that would be more 'realistic'. Who cares? Her power comes from her soul.
