The fact that it dedicates a sizeable portion of the announcement video to a concept of Skyrim on-the-go is especially significant on multiple levels as to where their priorities lie. It's a statement that the console is no slouch in terms of power especially for a portable system and even as a home console.
this and losing the little controls is what concerns me most about thisLots of sliding parts. Wonder what wear and tear will be like :p

I'm not sure I agree or maybe I just misunderstand your point =/
But being able to play Skyrim is not a huge accomplishment. I'm sure PSVita could have done it as well. I mean the freaking PS3 could "Play" Skyrim, and that thing has like 512mb of Ram. Half of which is IIRC Reserved for OS, so realistically they got that to play on 256 lol.
Idk. I see Skyrim and I think of an old game with really bad default textures, stiff/nonexistant animations and a game built around being able to work sub 1gb ram limitations.
Even if its the remastered version that doesn't really impress considering it doesn't look all that much better and it's only big selling point is that its no longer restrained by being a game built around 32bit architecture and can use a more relevant version of DX.
I mean the remastered versions graphics are still limited by the outdated at release specs of the current console generation.
So tl;dr I have no clue how showing Skyrim showcases it isn't slouching in the power department. To me it actually kinda does make me feel worried. IDK.
You probably already know this, but Skyrim was not the best-performing game on any console upon release (and didn't perform all that well on the PS3), especially under load. Given optimization I suppose it could have worked on the Vita as well ie. a playable standard at best? Even though it's ugly as sin, it was a technically demanding game for rigs that want to play it at its best quality and I'd personally rate last-generation console versions as passable as best.
Also need to note that this is looking to have the highest-resolution screen we've seen in a dedicated portable console so far, judging from its bullshots, at least greater than the 544p of the Vita or (god forbid) the 240p screens on the 3DS.
At face value it's not an amazing accomplishment, no, but I think it's more complicated than that (not to mention the other aspects of the announcement I mentioned). I mean, people used Crysis as a benchmark for games long after it looked graphically impressive by more modern standards.
I said:Also, does that mean the next Pokemon games are gonna be proper console games?
