This is VERY much what Guillermo Del Toro's films are like visually, and they're all just been DAMN gorgeous. I believe that Pan's Labyrinth & both Hellboy films are pretty easy to see as having this esthetic.

in 2012, they gave us Avengers. I hope this baby will unleash the epic battles of giant monsters vs. robots, one that Evangelion has failed to step up till now in the big screen.
Also I hope hope hope hope they crossover with Godzilla (the 2014 version or hell even the Final Wars version) . Prototype Jaeger and the living Legend who was never stopped vs. swarms of Kaiju will have me swoon. :')

My appreciation for this production just went up a lot. I love practical effects and the fact that they bothered to build the cockpits amazes me.

Guillermo Del Toro is awesome when it comes to his ability to marry practical and CG effects, and he does LOTS of both and knows what works best in camera. It's a big reason I've been so stoked about this film, and it's nice to get a better look at it.
