And Ody, I like Aerith okay so far, but she's no substitute for Jessie imo. She does have one line in Wall Market that I really like, though:

I feel like my foreknowledge of Aerith's death has always hampered my ability to form a connection with her. I knew she died before I knew anything else about FFVII. You could argue Jessie is the same, but not to me she isn't.

I'm the opposite. Knowing that their death is coming, makes me want to have a connection to them even more. That way their death doesn't leave me emotionless when it does happen

It's possible. Their roles as "not the main characters" make them easier to relate with by default. I've also always been fond of the underdogs, and Avalanche certainly is that for the FF7 fan base (maybe not anymore though.)

I hope the remake's changed that, yeah - them being underdogs, I mean. What we've been given of them (that I've seen) has been great, especially the Clessie moments. I just beat Hell House a while ago so I'm still in Chapter 9, but my stomach's literally in knots about what's to come, especially with Jessie. I don't know if I can do it...

I will. Just been bogged down in Wall Market with sidequests. Every time you think you've got them all done, more pop up. Johnny's a riot, though.

I wish we could've seen Jessie in a dress (there were those pictures on the wall, but it's not the same as seeing the actual model in a cutscene), but maybe when we get to Gold Saucer later in the series, there'll be a flashback to her time on stage and we'll see it then. I hope so, anyway. And I wonder, since Cait Sith knows people there, if he ever met her? And through him, Reeve? That would be great if they did know each other. Maybe Cait helped her get her career started and they became friends while she was there. I'd love that and it would expand her story as well, and give her more connections to the main cast.

Just started Chapter 11. I'm almost there. I think I have to stop for a little bit, my emotions are already wound up. I just don't know if I'm ready for it yet.
