You know, I don't even disagree thay keeping Biggs alive and potentially also Jessie diminishes any sense of loss or tragedy from plate fall, it just that I also don't particularly care 
. If Square has some ideas for using them further in the future, I'm much more interested in seeing where that's going than slavishly upholding the original story.

I understand, Ry, but
the entire point of beating the Whispers was to be able to change fate and thus, not be stuck with the OG's version of events but rather to break free of them. Jessie and Wedge surviving along with Biggs would be an example of such fate being defied and allow for new story opportunities and character growth for them. Plus more fun times with them like we had in Chapter 4. So I'm all for it, and I believe that her glove there is an indication she's alive. They showed it before they showed Biggs, after all, ensuring people would think of her, see him alive, and then immediately begin to wonder and hope about her.

That's kind of in line with what I was saying to Makoeyes about the chip bag with a different looking Spot on it. There are so many other logical reasons for the glove to be there, but logic isn't the most, well, "logical" thing to be applied here. Its art, its film making. Everything on screen has to communicate something to the audience. Putting her glove on that desk and then following it with seeing Biggs alive made me immediately think "OH FUCK JESSIE'S ALIVE!" I didn't think "some rescue volenteer who saved Biggs also decided to strip a glove off of Jessie's corpse and leave it on a desk for Biggs to find, because that requires too much thinking for such a short scene. Does this make sense?

Yeah, it seems more likely to me that she may have recovered sooner than Biggs and had left the slums for some reason. But before doing that, she must've put her glove on the dresser to let him know she was okay since she'd have had no way to know when he would wake up. Maybe she heard Cloud and the others were leaving Midgar and had left to go meet them in Kalm or somewhere else. And leaving her glove behind would seem to imply that when and if we do see her again, she'll look different than she did in Part 1. Different outfit, maybe even different hairstyle if that was her headband on the dresser and not Biggs'.

Although Jessie was outwardly embarassed at Cloud having to carry her inside the bar, inwardly I'm sure she was loving every minute of it. And it's a nice payoff from her flirt in Chapter 1 about how he'd be the first to know if she couldn't walk.
Speaking of Chapter 1, I realized a while ago that how her legs get pinned down in the reactor by the debris is actually a bit of foreshadowing about what eventually happens to her in the pillar when she's buried under the rubble in the explosion. Either the Whispers made the grenade go off early or kept her from getting out of its blast radius. I do wonder why the helicopter didn't just start shooting as soon as the pilot saw her, but maybe he was as surprised as she was.

the fact that the look on her face (which is definitely a variation of jessies theme) is mainly played by a flute makes me want to play it... But on the other hand I'd probably start crying while playing it

Conventions have been a yearly outing for me since 2012. Tragically the big local one was cancelled this year thanks to Covid 19.I've only gone to one game convention, and I'll have to look out for em next time. I just went because I wanted to see what kind of art, people were selling
