I mean what do you expect. T & A are some of the most beloved characters in all of final fantasy. Jessie even taking 10% off them is huge.

Well, it's just that I wish more people wouldn't follow the traditional likings and straight, preprogrammed lines about this but actually try thinking outside the box for once. That more would try liking someone other than the most popular but actually allow themselves to like another just as much and not stick simply to what they know and are familiar with just because it's how the original was. I just wish more people would be open to something new and unexpected like Jessie, is all.

If she were playable, it would probably be a different story and the numbers would be higher. I think there's an automatic, subconscious tendency to put NPC's on a lower tier simply because of what they are, no matter how significant they are. I just wish more people wouldn't be so attached to the familiar that they won't take the risk of liking something or someone new just as much.

That's true, if she was playable people would like her more. NPCs tend to get the shaft a lot in these polls. I still think she did pretty good all things considered.

It shouldn't make a difference, though. Hopefully Part 2 will remedy that. She should have a chance to have the starring role she's always wanted.

I know you like to think big, but right now we don't even know if she's alive. I'd keep your Hope's focused on that, because I don't think she's ever going to be playable.

You never know, and it's still a good possibility that she's alive. Making her playable would be just the kind of thing that absolutely nobody would see coming but which a lot of people would be happy about, so SE can't really lose by doing it. And why would they lay the groundwork for her to have the reasons and connections to make a journey away from Midgar if they weren't going to follow through with it?

Also, by the end of FFVII's traditional story route, there are only two women left in the group. Tifa has only one female friend left, Yuffie, but the age difference and her brash personality might not make it easy for her and Tifa to ever be very close. Letting Jessie join the group ultimately adds another girl to the endgame cast, someone Tifa can relate to more easily because she's already been friends with her for a long time, and allows us to still be able to have a choice for Cloud's love interest after Aerith's gone so that it doesn't feel like the only reason Tifa may have ended up with him was because she just happened to be the last woman standing.

I understand, I just don't think there's anything wrong with being aware of the possibilities, either.

Just hold on tight, okay?
i seriously agree that if she was playable she'd get even more popular. i would love to use that cool gun of hers!
and if it makes you happier jairus, jessie actually beat both girls in a small twitter poll once :mon: i'll try to find it if you're interested.

Jessie would be good in remake due to her ranged attacks and arsenal of other weapons like her grenades, but I feel like there would be too much overlap with Barret and Vincent.

I'd be interested in seeing that poll. How often does square do their own popularity polls? I'd be curious to see how jessie would do on a series-wide poll now.

Not if their playstyles were done differently, Ody. Vincent and Barret typically only use one firearm at a time while Jessie could use two, Yuna/Cassie Cage style, for a different approach, potentially allowing her to hit multiple targets every time she attacks. And they don't use explosives, but she does. Cloud and Tifa are both melee fighters but their styles are very different. I'm sure SE could come up with a unique approach for Jessie to set her apart from Barret and Vincent.

she could be faster with her guns since she's significantly smaller than both men? there could also be bomb attacks, maybe even chains from her back pocket to drag the enemy in and then roundhouse kick (since she is a physical fighter as well). idk just throwing things out there. and i'll try to find the poll. it's was really small, at least by the time i went to it, there were like 10 votes. but even with votes that small tifa always dominates so i was glad to see it regardless.

EDIT found it, take it however you will

Another possibility for Jessie's playstyle could be that she might be able to switch stances like Cloud, except hers would switch between ranged and melee attacks, with abilities like Cloud's Disorder which can cause damage and switch her stance at the same time. But yeah, chewie, I agree she'd probably be faster than Barret. I don't know about Vincent, though, because of his enhancements. But she could be, if his abilities are more strength-based. She could be a fast fighter like Tifa.

Okay I actually dig that idea a lot.

Nice she was acknowledged, but T & A shouldn't be called unbeatable. That's an indirect put-down and an indicator of inherent bias. PC's are always going to have an unfair advantage, so something should've been done with the poll to offset that.
