Yeah, when I researched how it actually worked I had to raise my eyebrows at it.

I mean, maybe it could help with data, but not battery life...

POKEMON GO PLAYERS:

PLEAAAASE for the love of God utilize some common sense to determine fake offers for free coins just for sharing:

1. With any offer, anywhere, ever - think "is this too good to be true?" If the answer is "probably" then assume it is a scam. Giveaways do happen but they are uncommonly rare.

2. Make sure the site is the official Pokemon website (www.pokemon.com), Niantic website (nianticlabs.com) or is being hosted by the OFFICIAL Pokemon Go Social Media outlets. If it's not - it's fake. Nobody apart from Niantic has the power to add Pokecoins to your account.

3. Check for FINE PRINT. If there's no fine print anywhere detailing the offer - IT'S A SCAM. There is ALWAYS fine print.

4. If it has "testimonials" on a page, check the links. They are usually fake. They'll go underline when you mouse over them but won't lead you anywhere. If the testimonials are "real" the accounts are often fake or paid for testimonials.

5. Giveaways with "limited offer" counters. These are meant to make you panic and go as fast as possible. Watch them. I guarantee you most of them will drop super fast but hang out around 4- 14 without moving any further down. If they are out there's no more incentive for you to do it so that's as low as they often go.

Please... be sensible and safe peoples...

i think the reason they've given is something about servers? plus this was developed by an american company i think? so it's not like they made it all in japan and just haven't released it there

but man i'm annoyed, i wanted to ignore the app telling me to go outside and thinking it could overcome my apathy for life

So me and the girlfriend decided to spend most of the day walking around looking for pokémon, coupled with an hour or so in a local pub for food and a few drinks. Was expecting it to be a rather fun day out with her. However servers went down around 2pm cutting short our little pokéventure resulting in returning home early for some sexy fun times.

Day ruined amirite?

I wanted that Hitmonchan!

So my friend finally got Pokemon Go a couple of days ago and let me tell you playing PKMNGo with a friend is a 1000x more fun.

Also she managed to get 2 levels higher than me and has somewhere around 20k Stardust. WTF. I barely manage to keep 1k stardust on me at most.

So, are we positive that the footprints correspond to how far away a Pokemon is? Cause I just checked my game, saw a charmander was 3 footprints away, got dressed and went hunting. As soon as I got off the elevator, he showed up for me and I caught him. My apartments right next to the elevator, so I didn't really travel more than 15-20 feet or so. I can't imagine that height has any effect on it.

The footprints were highly indicative of distance and which Pokémon was closest for the first week. For whatever reason, the "Nearby" list has meant absolute shit these past couple of days beyond (at most) letting you know something is in the relative vicinity.

Lately I've had Pokémon at the bottom of the list appear right beside me, or -- most frustrating of all -- finding that no matter what direction I go in the silhouette of a new Pokémon moves further away, even when I return to the same starting point to try a new direction.

This has been my problem with search for Gastly.

...though my friend has joked that since it's Gastly I'm looking for, it's just moving away from me because it likes to see me walk around in circles in the middle of the night. (I wonder if Go gave pokemon AI travel patterns.)

Gastly you're a fucking dick. :@

Unless Kadabra, Golbat, Scyther, Pinsir and Eevee can all do it too, I doubt that's it. =P

I have finally caught a Scyther (he has his entire CP Curve yet to develop), Pinsir and 11 Eevees, but those others are fucking with me. I need more Eevees so I can get all three evolutions -- have Flareon so far. :monster:

- If it wasn't for all these useless Pokéstops I would at least be Level 2 by now. Am I supposed to somehow contribute to Pokéstop info by taking photos of the site and writing descriptions? I don't see how else the game would get relevant information for some of these obscure sites and shops.

- I heard that gyms only become relevant when you reach Level 5, but the closest gym I have is right smack dab in the middle of a construction site, in an area I can't physically reach. Derp.

So far my experience with this game is mostly frustration. =/

Are you swiping the picture? Pokestops are insanely important, if you don't want to spend real money. By swiping the picture you get items. Pokeballs, eggs, lures, incubators, etc.
There's only one that's close to me without a trek, and I'm feeling the effects of not having enough pokeballs.

I do swipe, but I get nothing 9 times out of 10. The giant disc that you spin by swiping is usually blank white and nothing loads. No images, no descriptions etc. The only thing I get is a "try again later" message, after having waited 30-60 seconds for anything relevant to load from the Pokéstop.

It's really bloody annoying.

There is so much about this game that is only hearsay/rumors/speculations at this point. It feels like gaming in the 90s. Everybody is in the dark and are trying their best to learn and use word of mouth to spread suggestions.

Pokémon spawns in Pokémon Go are random, so it could just be bad luck if you don't have any near you, and you might want to try again later. However, the spawn locations are also weighted based on population density. Much like in Niantic's other game Ingress, Pokémon Go uses Google Traffic to get the traffic density in each area by tracking the GPS locations of Android phones. The more people that frequent an area, the more Pokémon there will be there.

Ironically, the best way to find wild Pokémon is to go to the city, not the wild.

I suppose that explains why there are no Pokémon near me?

While almost all the Pokéstops I have explored are blank and useless, with no real data attached to them and spinning the disc does nothing, at least I don't have it as bad as this guy.

I had that happen to me. I'm sure you've already tried it. But I shut down the game, restarted, and it loaded up fine.

Holy frickity frack paddy whack--I FINALLY caught my first Evee!

Elusive little bastard.

I've caught 4 in the last 24 hours, in addition to my other 2, and vaporeon that's almost maxed out in cp. Meanwhile, I have 2 rattata. Eevee are my second most common pokemon, behind pidgey

Eevee are fairly common near me as well, but it's mostly Rattatas, Pidgeys and Spearow (in that order). Eevee do take a little bit of effort, whereas the other three just require walking out the door.

The relative elusiveness of Eevee in my neighborhood is the subject of much annoyance amongst my peers and I.

Eevee, Eevee
(to the tune of Daisy, Daisy (Bicycle Built For Two))

There is a splinter within my mind
Eevee, Eevee
One little furball I cannot find,
One evolution to go.
Keep getting closer and if you could,
Show up, it would be swell.
Been walking in circles for hours now,
and you can go to hell.

Chorus:

Eevee, Eevee, please come within my view.
I look crazy, running around for you.
Oh, wouldn't it just be dandy?
I only want your candy.
Please turn into, Vaporeon,
Already got the other two.

You're really fun but you cause me strife,
Eevee, Eevee
This silly game has consumed my life,
But I control a gym.
When it get darks out, we have to dodge.
Policemen and cars as well.
And if my gun nut neighbor catches me,
I have to run like hell.
(Chorus)

I will keep playing Pokemon Go
Eevee, Eevee
Yes I'm addicted, it's clear, I know.
Haters just gonna hate.
Someday I'll die and then at my wake,
The people all will tell.
Of a dirty damn cheater who rode the brakes,
and plays the game in hell.
(Chorus)

Servers are kinda unreliable TBF, so, meh :monster:

Pokemonz distribution is probably equal to that of the flying little energy balls in Ingress, which means that, like poke stops and shit, they'll occur the most in more densely populated areas. Which is kinda stupid and arbitrary in this case, Ingress' shallow storyline has something to do with controlling the population or something, of which most reside in cities and shit.
