First I wandered for an hour with nothing but a barren landscape. No Pokéstops, no Pokémon, no nothing! I couldn't even use Incense no matter how hard I tried! The Incubation also never advanced from 0.63km, even though I wandered somewhere between 2-4km on the way.

Then the bright idea struck me to exit the game and log in again. The game now loaded in a nighttime setting as was proper, and suddenly there were loads of Pokéstops and a decent amount of Pokémon!

Pokéstops finally decided to load, even those that had not loaded before. I have finally been able to play the game properly! Wandered for 1 1/2 hours with a functional game. Progressed from Level1 to Level5, caught a total of 16 different Pokémon, joined Team Mystic and then got my ass kicked at a Lv1 Gym.

I am now home and I have a nasty blister on my left heel (only a really small blister on my right heel). This was a good opportunity to properly use the shoes I bought this weekend, but man did my feet and most of all my heels hurt for that last hour of wandering. XD I need to "heal" (LOL) before I can walk around for any longer period of time again.

Discovered something yesterday and put it into motion today: Charity Miles. Was running it while playing Pokemon Go. You can choose one of 37 charities (I chose Habitat for Humanity) for each activity you do and you earn .10 / mile for biking or .25 / mile for walking and running. I earned .50 for H4H today catching the Pokeymans. There's even PokemonGo Teams you can join (not to mention tons of others!)

Maybe we should make a TheLifestream Team and track each other's exercise!

- If it wasn't for all these useless Pokéstops I would at least be Level 2 by now. Am I supposed to somehow contribute to Pokéstop info by taking photos of the site and writing descriptions? I don't see how else the game would get relevant information for some of these obscure sites and shops.

That information was accumulated before the game was released.

So I got a text from my coworker that a pikachu showed up in our office as soon as I left.

There's this really annoying bug where every Pokemon is shown as being the maximum distance away (three footprints) even if they're right next to you right now. It makes hunting for Pokemon random and not as fun. s: I've lost my chance at a Jynx, a Psyduck, a Pikachu and a couple of Eevees because of this thing. I got lucky today and caught an Eevee but it doesn't make up for it.

My town is LOADED with Eevees. Gyms are all taken over by Flareons and Vaporeons, kind of annoying actually. I got on the whole forcing the Eeveelution thing quickly though and exploited some gyms with a newly evolved Jolteon (didn't actually take over though, because everyone else has cars and time and are OP as fuck -.-). Then everyone else had Jolteons.

Eevee's are pretty common at my house, I'm about one away from evolving my second evo. But so are Pidgeys as I'm about to evolve my second Pidgeot. I didn't realize Pikachu was classified as a starter cause it was the second one I caught at home so naturally its CP is so shit.. so was the Haunter I was once stoked about.

Most Gyms in the area are full of Eevee-evo's and Hypno's with a couple randos sprinkled in. My 10 km egg hatched yesterday and it was a Lapras and I was so happy ;-;

I was gonna go out to the park today after work and try socialize/meet people but the server's been borked since noon, so... that's fate I guess.

inorite, it messed up all my plans to hatch my eggs while I rode the bus (it moves slow enough between stops) and did my shopping. I hatched one egg and caught a few Pokemon along the way and then kaput goes the server.

I do walk about 10 km every day anyway by taking my dog for walks, so I kill two birds with one stone by hatching eggs. Today I hatched two 5 km eggs and got two Voltorbs. Yay. :I

My mom, a woman who has never played a Pokemon game in her life (and hasn't played many video games at all) downloaded this game and has started playing. Now if only Final Fantasy had an AR tile...

Spoiler: Side note regarding my parent's history with video games, which while fascinating to me is probably too boring for most so I shall hide it under spoiler tags - hwacha!

My folks were teens in the 70s so they were not completely absent from the video game craze. They played Pong and Space Invaders, and had an Atari 2600. My dad's favorite game from that time was Haunted House, though there were a few other good ones like the always popular Combat and Yar's Revenge (Yar's Revenge is my favorite Atari game).

Then came the NES which we first got when I was about 6 years old. My mom used this primarily to play Othello, and my dad got me hooked on this amazing game called Pirates! which was way ahead of its time. In all ways but graphically it could pass for the sophistication of an SNES title. And they both loved Tetris, but honestly who doesn't?

Since then there really haven't been too many video games that hold either of their attention, though they absorbed some of the culture through us kids. Of the more interesting and noteworthy exceptions to this rule:

1. My dad actually really enjoyed SSX Tricky. We were playing it out in the living room and the game's personality got him laughing so he gave it a try. He wasn't very good but the game's design is such that even if you're doing poorly you still have fun.

2. My mom sat down with us a couple of times to play Dokapon Kingdom, the RPG party game.

3. Everybody - and I mean everybody - plays Wii Sports. We break out the bowling game to this day.

Japanese fans have been spamming ingress with bad reviews because this game is still not out and there is no definite date set. 20th was rumoured or leaked with news of a McDonald's collaboration then it goes to 21st then just shrugging shoulders ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So I downloaded the uk one while I was updating my bank app and will start it when I get home (or on the bus home?)

Don't plan on putting a lot of time into it though

i got a charizard and a beedle, saw three pokestops and decided to go to a cash machine just to walk past them

(the cash machine then eat my card because i forgot it was expired)

i don't get how eggs work yet

The beta was in Japanese, so I think that most of that work was done already, it was just them having to significantly ramp up their servers to deal with it.

Insofar as Eggs: Go you your Pokémon, swipe right to get to the eggs. Choose one and incubate it, and then walk for the required 2/5/10km, and it'll hatch.
