Plots should be simple to follow, and as contrived as humanly possible so they are comfortable for players and familiar. Original content makes people feel dumb and confused. See Shadow of the Colossus, Dead Space, and Uncharted.
Having a token nigra partner keeps the blackers in check, while also ensuring they have something nice to look at since black people love asses and tits. As long as she has that, her character is of low priority. Jill Valentine isn't really important in the big scheme of things.
Co-op, as long as it exists is justified in all circumstances. Multiplayer is the wave of the future. Especially in a game like this where the enemies use well coordinated attacks and strategies to attack and stealthfully and frightfully attack the player from all directions.
