Squenix will only do remakes if the games are incredibly old and lack content. This prevents them from doing any real effort or spending a ton of money. It's all good business to squenix. This locks the remakes solely between ff1 and ff4 for the most part since 5 actually has a bit of meat on it's bones but isn't as popular as 4.

I believe this means any ff from 6 onwards will never get remade. Only reissued every few years. Maybe they will do minor editing but that's about it. A better translation here and there if you will. Throw in a new dungeon and act as if we should be grateful.

I'd imagine if they did do a remake of any game from 6 and up they'd release the game in installments that you would have to pay 50-60 bucks if it's ff13 style or they'd remove a ton of content and port it to psp/ds.

This just shows how lazy and money centric squenix has truly become since the spirits within bombed and the merger happened. I hope they don't remake anything now honestly. And I'm sick and tired of squenix as a whole.

On the subject of the towns nonsense: just look at the tales series. Sure there stuck in anime land and need to do so something original but at least they don't need 10 years to make a town and environments that you can actually explore. Screw this new all graphics and no content game design.

Or Bioware for that matter. I love bioware.

Yes. Kitase did actually want jenova to pop out of her tube and fight Zack... in the actual storyline of the game. Not even as a optional secret boss in one of the missions...

What's amazing about crisis core is it's inability to build on the characters in any meaningful way that actually adds to the canon and the original characters. Or the rest of the complication for that matter. All the complication does is create new characters for each piece of media and builds on them rather than focusing on any of the originals. I'll save my moaning for somewhere else though.

I've never heard about the idea of having her do it in the original game. Kitase did want it to happen in CC, though, until Nomura shot the idea down because it didn't happen in the first game.

Yeah, it's true. I may be over exaggerating a bit when I say pop out, but she was supposed to be involved somehow. But then Nomura of all people put his foot down and said no because it didn't happen in the original game.

That's not exactly a retcon that can be explained away anyway.

I don't know, I somehow get the impression that Kitase is the one who doesn't seem to care that much about continuity. :/ I wonder how many of the staff really feel the way he does on this whole issue or if they have no choice but to comply. They can't exactly go behind his back to the media, I don't think. No company would allow that.

Quite frankly part of me does wish he would just stop talking about a remake. All of them, really. I think it mainly all boils down to having a shit ton of other projects. There's no time for a remake!
