Which is why Tifa gave a foxy look to Cloud at the end of AC/C, RLY. As in, "Good job, you're getting some tonight :awesome:"

But yeah basically, what Nojima said was: Cloud and Tifa are in a relationship, although it's not going too well at this point. Maybe it could have worked well with Aerith, but there is a great burden from Aerith [implied: so it probably wouldn't have worked well either].

The burden probably is a reference to Zack.

I think that the conclusion is so obvious that it doesn't even need to be said, and that this thread will never reach 7 pages, let alone 700.

Is someone bitter that his thread go closed? It really was a large, cumbersome thing, you know. :P

But Mako should have let hito make this thread.

Also pizza delivery discussion at the end of the previous thread should be its own thread, imho. I never got a chance to discuss it and I feel that it is a vital aspect of the whole debate. :wacky:

But wow...by saying that alone, he has just admitted to the fact that...Cloud and Tifa are in a marriage/relationship situation. Which mean's they're together.

Wow. Epic.
ding ding ding :awesome:

I'm a little confused about the Aerith reference though ... it might have gone better with her, but there's a burden associated with her? I thought the burden was her death? So if we're talking about hypotheticals and what might have been, then ... she wouldn't have been dead? Anyone see what I'm trying to say?

Yup, I definitely think so too, because she saw Zack in Cloud and wasn't over him.

But since he says nothing about Zack, we can only speculate about this, really. In the end, both relationships would have displayed some troubles. The thing is, only one is canon and worked over their problem :monster:

I voted for Tifa because I believe that he and Tifa are together...only because she is alive and not dead. That and she gives him sex. :monster: Clearly a winner in my opinion.

Hito had his chance. It's my turn now :awesome:

But seriously, that quote there from that interview is gold. I don't know how much more clearer the creator's could make it, save for saying "Cloud and Tifa fuck each night on Tuesday after watching 'My Favorite Cactuar' on Channel 3 Midgul Television."

Is there any doubt now as to what relationship and the "feelings" they shared under the Highwind?

there's the premise that things won't go well between Tifa and Cloud, and that even without Geostigma or Sephiroth this might be the same.

Because of the guilt Cloud has over Aerith's death? Or maybe he just felt they wouldn't get on because of who each of them are as people.

I don't really intend to go about my views on love or marriage or family (laughs).
Interesting how he jumps straight to that when talking above Cloud and Tifa's relationship. It feels pretty unconnected otherwise.

After ACC, I guess Denzel and Marlene could help them work it out.
In other words nothing was resolved between them in ACC? Well okay, I guess they may still have awkwardness issues after ACC despite everything but they seem perfectly happy and normal in Dirge of Cerberus 1 year later.

Maybe things would have gone well with Aerith, but I think there is a great burden from Aerith.
So Cloud and Aerith were compatible but I also don't understand what the 'burden' is. Is it just talking about his guilt over her death?

Oh, I just remembered. I wanted to write Cloud as a person, seen through Tifa's eyes. But he really isn't the type to open up (laughs).
Which affirms what I originally thought, that the distant and possibly negative attitude Tifa sees isn't conveying the true thoughts and intentions of Cloud himself because it's from her slightly paranoid point of view (she starts off the novella by wondering why it was he left and for the rest of the novella she then explores this, hence how depressing it can seem at times).

Just curious.

They both have trouble communicating their feelings. It's something they both need to work on. I like to think their separation made them both acutely aware of this, however.

I wondered that too, but in this hypothetical situation she wouldn't be dead, so the burden must be something else. Perhaps Zack? You KNOW Cloud would feel guilty about getting with Zack's girl, all considered.

There's that rascally 3rd person limited narrative again. Just because character and/or narrator describe it one way doesn't mean it's the whole truth. :monster:

That's definitely true. ACC seems to knit up where they were falling apart in that Cloud is no long being distant and she can reach him again. After ACC Denzel and Marlene probably would have helped them with everything else. Marlene can be pretty pushy for example, so I wouldn't be surprised if she did most of the work.

I wondered that too, but in this hypothetical situation she wouldn't be dead, so the burden must be something else. Perhaps Zack? You KNOW Cloud would feel guilty about getting with Zack's girl, all considered.
That would all make sense except it's never been indicated that Cloud felt guilty over fancying Zack's ex. Although, maybe that's because he never fancied her in the first place.

It's slightly annoying how that can be used on Tifa being intelligent though. Just because Nanaki describes her as such it doesn't necessarily mean she is. But yeah, that's slightly irrelevant to the LTD.

Also where in the game was there a section devoted to "Who is cloud imagining his wang in?"

It's all wrapped up in the treasure trove of Cloud guilt. He wouldn't have been aware of the Zack/Aerith thing until post-Lifestream, and by that point his letting her die superceded any other guilt he might feel with regards to her. But if she had survived, it wouldn't surprise me if it became an issue.

It's slightly annoying how that can be used on Tifa being intelligent though.
I haven't seen a lot of evidence of Tifa being unintelligent, though. I don't think we need Nanaki to tell us she's smart. But she's also insecure, and that can play with perception when it comes to the person we love.

You're the one trolling telling us to stop discussing factors of the story and the characters, so you get off your high horse. :monster:

If you're not gonna discuss the subject, then leave the damn thread. Seriously.

@Isabella

I think the burden could be referring to Aerith though. Maybe there would be a burden with Aerith and her feelings too. I mean, that's another facet that not many people seem to look at. Would Aerith really be that comfortable after she would have learned the truth of Cloud's existence and how Zack died and all?

That's a good point. I'm one of those who doesn't believe Aerith was as over Zack as she tried to pass herself off as, and I think the whole truth might've weighed on her as much as Cloud. It's all so hypothetical. How would real Cloud and a fully aware Aerith have gotten on? We'll never know.

Nineteen for Tifa, and only one for Aerith? Madness. Mako must have rigged the poll.

I wanted to write Cloud as a person, seen through Tifa's eyes. But he really isn't the type to open up (laughs).
This part confuses me a bit. It's been stated that he opened his heart to Tifa, yet here it says that he isn't the type to open up? Can someone explain this?

EDIT:

Where the hell is the LTD thread? Has the name been changed again?

I think people might be misreading this/I wasn't very clear. I think the burden from Aerith refers to the fact that she's dead and Cloud makes an emu farm over it. I think the hypothetical ended at the first part "maybe thing would have..." and the second is talking about how it is now.

At least that's how I read it. But what would a butcher like me know? :awesome:

Not really, as it wasn't past tense. I assumed he meant he wasn't going to start talking about his views on love/marriage/family in this interview.

Although I did really intend to put 'go on about' (as in talk about) there :awesome:
