Wentos said that the next Sonic will be in the style of the daytime levels in Sonic Unleashed, have an increased focus on platforming, and will be Sonic only.

They are, if you're a Sonic fan that wants a an actual 2D platformer that brings Sonic back to his roots and strips away the shitty gimmicks that have chained down the Sonic franchise to mediocrity for the past two generations of game consoles.

Sorry, not every fan is as jaded as you, and there's definitely a market of fans who want Sonic to go back to his original game formula. That's the entire reason Sega's doing this in the first place.

Well yeah it's good to not get your hopes up too high, I mean me frankly, I'd rather see some game play before I fully judge. But there's no reason to say the game will suck right off the bat either. It's a wait and see scenario.

Sonic stole my childhood from about ages 10-12 . I thought the Sonic games got better and better up to Sonic & Knuckles, then they went shit. The Sonic Rush series, or whatever its called doesn't look too impressive from the youtube walkthroughs I've seen either (compared to the first 2D games).

I'm disappointed its only gonna Sonic in whatever this new game is. Hopefully its gonna be him versus Robotnik, in a game with plenty of levels (more than what came with the average Sonic game of yesteryear), and perhaps something more than just a Metal Sonic and Death Egg bosses at the end.I'd have preferred they continued where they left off with Sonic and Knuckles, but it don't look like it.

I've never played a Sonic game that wasn't on the Genesis. Never really wanted to.

Wait, I did play Sonic CD once, but does that even count as not being part of the Genesis crew?

No Tails or Knuckles? I agree I could do without Amy, the Chaotix, or *shudder* Cream and Cheese, but I like Tails and Knuckles. I mean, I can live with just Sonic but you know.

I also must say, the only 3D Sonic game I've really hated was Sonic and the Secret Rings, that one blew chunks all over my screen. I traded it for something less made of suck. I enjoyed the rest of them, some more than others.

My biggest desire for a new Sonic game? Let Eggman/Robotnik be a decent villain again, just once let him not have some partner/fake servant like Chaos/Shadow/Dark Gaia backstab him and take over the show, let him be his old final-boss evil self for a change.

I actually like the American explanation for the name Eggman, where Robotnik is his real name, and Sonic and Co. called him Eggman as an insult due to his weight problem and obsession with egg-themed names for his robots and vehicles. Then Eggman adopted it as his own, taking all the sting out of it. One of the smartest things Robotnik ever did, that.
