What about Sonic Chronicles, was that its own universe?

At least Unleashed was a massive step in the right direction... i have high hopes for this Sonic 4, but I can't let myself get my hopes up TOO high.

That's what ALMOST frustrates me about this. I think it has the potential to be awesome and I won't complain. But as I said earlier in this topic, they just came SO CLOSE with Unleashed and NOW they wanna go back to 2D. People have been begging for it for years between Shadow the Hedgehog and such.
But they make a 3D game which has awesome speed levels, all they needed to do was make a game of just Unleashed-style speed levels and NOW they go 2D. lol

Spinball was all right. As for the most recent link(s) posted, the video has been taken down, and I missed it =(.

If they're gonna use the same boss fights from earlier games, it doesn't even make sense in the story of the game.

Robotnik: "I'mma defeat you with this very same machine I tried to defeat you with before, but failed miserably with."
Sonic: "Riiight."

Heard some people who have played the alpha game not liking it too much, saying it was basically Sonic Advanced. I haven't played Sonic Advance, so I dunno what they mean by that, but hell, I'll buy it anyway. Apparently it won't change much from what they've played either, because Sega have already sent the game away to be rated etc, which means they can't change it too much.

People are complaining it might be too much like Advanced or Rush but looking at the reviews, the 2D games always did pretty good. So I don't know what's bad about it. o.o

Meh, unpleasable fanbase is unpleasable. I just want an enjoyable game, period.
And who knows. I kinda have the feeling there might be a twist to that boss fight. As in, it looks like the Green Hill boss at first, but then Robotnik uses different attacks that you don't expect or something like that.

Looking at walk-through of Sonic Rush on youtube, it didn't impress me much. The game didn't remind me much of the original Sonic Games, like there wasn't as much effort put into making it. Seemed very basic looking. Given that the DS is more powerful than the Genesis, you'd be hoping for a better quality game :P. The 3D boss fights looked gimmicky.

I like the high-def graphics that I see in the Sonic 4 screen-caps n' all, but I hope that the classic feel is there. Another complaint from the alpha testers was that the physics were different. They said gaining and keeping momentum was a big part of the buzz of the original games (a point I agree with), and for some reason (I forgot why), they said the alpha didn't have that. I hope this gets rectified.

Well the latest news is that there are some leaks out there and some videos of the leaks. You can't find them on youtube but they're at various other places.

I didn't want to spoil myself, but finally decided what the hey? I watched two of them... Mad Gear Zone, and Lost Labyrinth Zone. Here was my reaction afterwards:

No really they should NOT have called this Sonic 4. I mean I wanted NEW stuff, not just rehashed levels. And FFS what is with that mine cart? Holy shit if they don't fix this, it's definitely going to be the end of Sonic for me.

Anyone else seen this crap?

I will say this, it's a very early prototype that was leaked, so maybe... MAYBE they will fix it. Play rehashed levels could be fun I guess. but... I dunno I'm just surprised that they aren't even TRYING to be creative.

I just don't know what to do at this point except wait and see but if those glitches aren't fixed... man i dunno WHAT sega is thinking.

Been playing Sonic 4 today. At first, I didn't like the physics. Takes a lot to get used to and feels very sluggish and slow at first. I still would like them to be more like the old games. But aside from that, it's a fun old-school platformer imo. I'm actually enjoying a modern Sonic game! D:

I've completed two zones so far and then tried speedrunning Splash Hill Act 1 for the silver trophy. Got the trophy, only came in #76 on the leaderboards though. :P

Honestly, if they made the physics like the old games, I think it'd be near perfect. Even then, it's still fun so far.

Downloaded the demo. I don't like the physics either, honestly, but the full game might be fun. I don't know if the full game has the full shebang with special stages, Super Sonic and the like, but I might buy it and see if I like what I hear.

Yeah, full game has special stages and Super Sonic. :monster:
The special stages can be quite tricky though.

I finished the game yesterday with only one Chaos Emerald. I really enjoyed it once I got used to the change in physics (still want the old ones back though). Just wish there would've been one or two more zones.

Eitherway, this one was mostly a homage to the old games seeing as the zones were mostly Sonic 1 and 2 reloaded so I hope Episode 2 will have more original content.

Also, I never watched any of the leaked beta videos before so I never knew what this stuff about the minecart in Lost Labyrinth Act 2 was all about.
Now that I did, I'm really glad they changed that shit for the console versions.
