The excuse of it being a fantasy game only goes so far. That's like saying Jar-Jar Binks isn't a bad character because he fits in the universe he was designed for. I don't visciously attack every questionable aspect of every game, I do decide "just go with it" a lot because yes, it is a fantasy game with its own rules and science and the like. Like the Gunblade, it doesn't bug me, I don't mind it. You do have to just accept some stuff and not question it or else it'll drive you mad like Spoony acts like he is.
But you can't just handwave everything like that and pretend its fine, sooner or later you have to draw the line and admit "okay this is getting a little *too* outrageous." That doesn't mean yell and scream that it is stupid, but the suspension of disbelief *can* stretch too far and thats when the questioning begins. Like the hair. Cloud, Squall, strange but acceptable, Ultimecia, a bit further out there but okay. But Seymour with his blue horn antlers? That's where my suspension of disbelief stretches too far and snaps. Yes, Seymour is a guado. But if the concept art of guado is an indication, Seymour's hair is still strange even by their standards.
