I did! I am so pleased right now. The way he opens the Sith Holocron is just like Tom Bombadil toying with the One Ring. I love it. Also, here's all of Filioni's art about that last conflict with Ahsoka & Vader that's got me infinitely curious about what's in store with the Convoree showing up like this, because it was clearly leading Ahsoka somewhere. (The top 5 were in the episode, but the bottom 5 are something entirely new & cryptic).

I almost wonder if Ahsoka is becoming the new Daughter & Ezra is becoming the new Son.

After watching that clip a few times, I finally know what's so scary about it. The big Imperial threats all have a VERY different presence, and typically have really sinister music to accompany them:

• Palpatine: He's got foresight, vast control, orchestration, & grand design.
• Vader: He's just raw power & unassailable brute strength.
• Tarkin: Pure military leadership and tactical genius.

All of those are easy to portray and cower down from, but Thrawn is just outright terrifying. The music he has is soft and even a little beautiful. He doesn't raise his voice but everyone listens to him with no objections. It's like he's ALWAYS looking through everyone like an open book, and you can't slip anything by him. Every meeting or confrontation feels like it serves some purpose of his, and any cards you know he has are only because he's letting you know.

God DAMN he is perfect, and I can't believe that Season 3 starts this weekend already.

The new story direction changed Filoni’s decisions, too. “In the first season of Rebels there are big pillar episodes that connect, but there are also a lot of side adventures,” he said. “I feel in season two there were more episodes that connected directly and less side adventures. Now as we get to season three, there’s definitely becoming more and more of a throughline as the characters really become who they’re meant to be. There’s more of a sense of this is starting to be one bigger story.”

Fewer side adventures sounds good. That's my biggest issue so far, never been too big on standalone episode stuff. Gimme long story arcs.

The main reason I was never able to get through the CG "Clone Wars" series. I know there are good stories in the later seasons, but it starts out so badly.

That (& the initial villain-of-the-week issues) are why it took Mortis & Maul's return to properly pull me in to that series. I like the quick evolution of Rebels a lot more for that, even if it starts of a little shakier.

I'm watching the first episode now. Around the 26 minute mark, I noticed that Sabine has a convor painted on her left shoulder plate in the colors of the daughter.

I'm sure it was apparent before now but I only just noticed it. Here's a Google image:

So with that and the convor sitting on the bendu's shoulder...should we be playing spot the convors this season?

Yes. Yes we should be playing that game. Also, this season is so solid already. The small time skip's done really well.

There aren't enough screen grabs in the internet so I'll have to rewatch the episode again. I was working from home today so I didn't have my eyes on the screen the whole time.

With the Clone Wars, (I'm not sure about this, but....) my guess is that they were dipping their toes in the water first to see how people received the show. It did get a lot better towards the end. And Ahsoka for example was not very admirable in the first episodes, she was even dressed ridiculously; it took a few seasons but they changed her for the better...or maybe she evolved / matured. It's not just Ahsoka though; I feel like the whole series progressed that way.

I'm seeing speculation on the internet that Benicio Del Toro is going to play Ezra in Episode 8....? It's total chisme but part of me kind of hopes it's true.

Obi-Wan & Maul have some SERIOUSLY unfinished business, and if he's getting his hands on that holocron, it just leaves me even further convinced that we're getting Obi-Wan in the S3 finale.
