They're not being thrust into anything. I have faith in Hathaway/Hardy's competance and Nolan's choices.

Being cast into a role that an actor hardly seems appropriate for based off appearance and filmography isn't being thrust into a role? Ok then. I hardly see her as much of a competent actor.

I'll give you hardy though. I'd have preferred they stuck with the character's original ethnicity however. But at least the man can act, and is good at being a badass.

Anne Hathaway was nothing short of fucking amazing in Rachel Getting Married. If you doubt her general acting skills, go watch it, nao.

Since I'm not really a Batman fan, I can't comment on if she's 'appropriate' for Selina, but she is damn good actress.

WHOA! Ledger was a fucking fantastic actor! One look at his filmography should have prevented you from ever doubting his talent prior to Dark Knight's debut. The man was legend.

I remember a great deal of people who just didn't know what to expect.

This situation ain't the same, sure some folks don't get it, but I don't see anywhere near the reaction Ledger got on any level. A few nerd circles are surprised but for the most part I don't see anyone caring as much as they did about the Joker situation.

I think that probably has a lot to do with the reverence Nolan now has online thanks to The Dark Knight and Inception. The man has earned the trust of the hard to please nerd circles.
