I love Anne Hathaway, and I'm willing to give her a chance in this because 1) she's awesome, 2) Chris Nolan is awesome, and 3) who knows how it will turn out until they do it?

I liked his analysis. He's right on many points. Especially on why/how a re-imagining would satisfy his view, but dissatisfy the fans. Also, I didn't think that Selina would be... just Selina and NOT Catwoman... interesting...

And here's Jeremy's opinion. Quite the... optimist, he is. Still, I have to dig his argument, that Nolan is "fixing" the characters other shitty movies made.

Yeah I don't really give a shit about opinions from internet personalities.

That said there's rumors going around that Robin Williams could play Hugo Strange, which would be fucking awesome.

His looks in Insomnia(I think it was?) were right on the mark for Hugo Strange too.

It took me by suprise at first, I mean Robin Williams in a Batman movie? But Yeah, he could do an amazing job. His best performances are when he's doing serious roles and he's shown he could pull off a obsessed character pretty well. (1 Hour Photo)

He's wanted to be in a Batman movie for YEARS.

It'd be awesome for him to finally get the chance.

Christopher Nolan's cinematographer Wally Pfister has answered a few questions posed by Bleeding Cool writer Brendon Connelly as part of the Kevin and Josh Movie Show and the comments have now hit the web, hinting that we will, indeed, see Anne Hathaway suit up as Catwoman next summer in The Dark Knight Rises (as opposed to just appearing as Selina Kyle).

"Yeah.. She's phenomenal," said Pfister when asked if he shot the Catwoman screentest, "This is something she wanted and wanted to show Chris, 'I'm the one for this job' and she did an incredible job... and she looked phenomenal in the wardrobe. It's going to be amazing with her."

Later, Connelly tried to clarify that the test did, indeed, involve Catwoman and not just Selina Kyle, but was unable to achieve confirmation.

"I'll get fired and I won't even get to shoot the picture!" Pfister laughed, "I can't really [say], but I definitely want to be around next year."

Pfister also addressed various rumors, including shooting down the idea that any the production would take place in New Orleans and also commented on the recent internet rumor that Robin Williams would be joining the cast in the part of Hugo Strange.

"I haven't even heard that," he said, genuinely surprise, "Look, they have to keep a lot of secrets from me anyway... I don't really know. They can turn around and surprise me, too. When I saw the list of girls that we were going to be screen-testing before they cast Anne, I didn't know myself who was real and who wasn't until about two days before the test..."

I still don't like this, but I've said that before, we'll see what comes from it though.

I have to agree, I like Hathaway alright but I just don't see her for Catwoman. But, stranger things have happened and actors have definitely surprised me in roles I thought they'd suck at in the past. It could work out.

You people are so pessimistic.

What does pessimism have to do with not liking an actor in a certain role?

I don't think anyone ever said HURR DURR THIS FILM WILL SUCK. Which we know it won't. I just don't like Anne Hat in this role. The character of Rachel Dawes was portray by two shitty actors in both films but it didn't detract from them much.

Also, now that I think about Hugo strange did a lot of experiments with steroids and shit to try and create superhumans. Maybe that's how they'll fit Bane into the film. I just hope whatever happens he retains his intelligence.

Surely they wouldn't turn him mute/retarded like Batman & Robin the film we never speak of. Nolan is on the ball with that at least. I almost worry too much emphasis will get placed on his intelligence over his brutality and strength, much as the Joker got too much emphasis on his nihlistic social experiment type behavior and not enough random batshittery that makes me laugh even as it chills my blood.

And yes, I actually am rather pessimistic a goodly deal of the time, as it is better to be pleasantly surprised because you thought something would suck/be meh than to have a fail yank the floor out from under you since you thought it would be awesome. That said, Bats is right, I am not saying this movie will suck, and I am gonna give Annie a fair shake at the role. Just not gonna be surprised if she is one of the worst parts of an otherwise enjoyable film. :monster:

Long rumored to play a part in Christopher Nolan's Batman sequel after his turn in the director's Inception last year, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is now reported by Deadline to be in talks for a role in The Dark Knight Rises.

Currently filming Rian Johnson's Looper, Gordon-Levitt has not officially been cast and, as of yet, there is no studio confirmation that he is even being sought to appear. That said, the actor has preemptively been the subject of much internet speculation regarding who he might play in the DC Universe and, as such, has certainly proven himself popular with Nolan fans.

The Dark Knight Rises is slated to feature the return of Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman, reprising their characters from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Newcomers confirmed to appear include Anne Hathaway in the part of Selina Kyle and Tom Hardy (who also appeared in Inception) in the role of Bane.

The film is planned for regular and IMAX release on July 20, 2012.

Hmm..Interesting. I remember a conversation where who could pick up Ledger's baton as the Joker and I put Levitt forward, he could pull off the look and he is a damn good actor. However there's plenty of other roles he could have in a film like this. Will be interesting if he makes it.

Maybe one or two people have expressed a dislike for Anne, but most simply state that they greatly doubt her acting chops. Hence pessimism. Derp @ you.

And lol, I love how my one sentence made you go on to think that I thought people implied that the film will suck. No.

Having doubts about an actor's ability in a role is not pessimism, it's simply an opinion based off of previous observation. Which is mostly what I've seen in that regard. Though, unsurprisingly this opinion is less common than that of cautious optimism it seems.

And lol, I love how my one sentence made you go on to think that I thought people implied that the film will suck. No.

Without any specific reasoning sighted, what more am I to do than assume the comment is directed at the film itself when such is the subject of the thread?

Adri got pWnzOr'd, imho.

I'm tired people saying they should leave the Joker out of the film just to honor Ledger's performance. If they can find an appropriate role for the character in the film and proper actor to portray him, there's no valid reason not to. Levitt has the talent.
